Analysis of WLAN Performance Depending on ARF Scheme with TCP and UDP Protocols (TCP와 UDP 프로토콜 상에서 ARF 기법에 따른 무선랜 성능 분석)

  • The IEEE 802.11b WLAN supports multiple transmission rates and the rate is chosen in an adaptive manner by an auto rate control algorithm. This auto rate control algorithm deeply affects the total system performance of the IEEE 802.11b WLAN. In this paper, we examine the WLAN performance with regard to the auto rate control algorithm especially the ARF scheme. The experimental results indicate that the ARF scheme works well in the face of signal noise due to node location. However, the ARF scheme severely degrades system performance when multiple nodes contend to obtain the wireless channel and the packet is lost due to signal collision. In addition, TCP prevent the performance degradation due to ARF scheme by retaining number of active nodes. However, some applications, such as transporting multimedia data, adopt the UDP. Therefore, the TCP cannot be an optimal solution for all WLAN applications.

  • The CCD camera is easily deteriorated by radiation, and an integrated camera using an image pickup tube is used in a high radiation area. We implemented a radiation camera system which is divided into a camera head using radiation-resistant electronic components and a remote control using weak radiation-resistant electronic components such as TR, IC, etc. According to the experimental results, the first damage of the electronic parts was IC for horizontal and vertical sync generation, and it was confirmed that if the radiation of $2{\times}10^5{\sim}10^6rad$ is accumulated, the normal function is lost. In addition, the signal transmission cable for remoteization has added an input/output buffer circuit and reduced the closed loop area of the shield and the cable to eliminate signal loss correction and noise. Therefore, it is expected that the maintenance cost will be greatly reduced and practical because only the camera head part can be used instead of replacing the entire system.

  • The international gnss service (IGS) provides real-time service (RTS) orbit and clock correction applicable to the broadcast ephemeris of GNSS satellites. However, since the RTS correction cannot be received if the Internet connection is lost, the RTS correction should be predicted and used when a signal interruption occurs in order to perform stable precise point positioning (PPP). In this paper, PPP was performed by predicting orbit and clock correction using a long short-term memory (LSTM) algorithm in real-time during the signal loss. The prediction performance was analyzed by implementing the LSTM algorithm in RPI (raspberry pi), the processing speed of which is not high. Compared to the polynomial prediction model, LSTM showed excellent performance in long-term prediction.

  • Time-delay estimation between two receivers is a technique that has been applied in a variety of fields, from underwater acoustics to room acoustics and robotics. There are two types of time delay estimation techniques: one that estimates the amount of time delay from the correlation between receivers, and the other that parametrically models the time delay between receivers and estimates the parameters by system recognition. The latter has the characteristic that only a small fraction of the system's parameters are directly related to the delay. This characteristic can be exploited to improve the accuracy of the estimation by methods such as Lasso regularization. However, in the case of Lasso regularization, the necessary information is lost. In this paper, we propose a method using Elastic Net that adds Ridge regularization to Lasso regularization to compensate for this. Comparing the proposed method with the conventional Generalized Cross Correlation (GCC) method and the method using Lasso regularization, we show that the estimation variance is very small even for white Gaussian signal sources and colored signal sources.

Analysis on Installation Criteria for Scrambled Crosswalks Considering Vehicle and Pedestrian Traffic Volume (교통량과 보행량을 고려한 대각선 횡단보도 설치기준 정립 방안 연구)

  • Nowadays, interest in safety of pedestrians who are relatively weak when compared with vehicles increases. Also, concern for pedestrian accidents on crosswalks increases. For these reasons, scrambled crosswalks which are considered to contribute pedestrian safety by reducing conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians are actively discussed and there are also a few intersections where they are actually installed. However, scrambled crosswalks must include all-red phase for all vehicle traffic flows, which inevitably leads to increase of lost time per cycle. Therefore, evaluation in terms of efficiency should be done before installation of scrambled crosswalks. This research suggests installation criteria for scrambled crosswalks so that it is possible to judge whether installation of scrambled crosswalks is appropriate only by surveying vehicle traffic volume and pedestrian traffic volume. This research derives optimum cycle length from signal optimization models which considers both vehicle traffic volume and pedestrian traffic volume. From this optimum cycle length, this research compares total delay time before and after installation of scrambled crosswalks. From an analysis, two research results are derived. Firstly, there is critical traffic volume above which installation of scrambled crosswalks can not efficient. Secondly, appropriate areas for installation of scrambled crosswalks are different by each signal intersection or by each signal system and those difference vary. From these results, this research suggests installation criteria for scrambled crosswalks which consists of two steps. The delay time of the pedestrians may be increased after the diagonal crosswalk is installed, but it may be desirable to install in consideration of the appropriate traffic level to ensure safety.

Study on the Improved Target Tracking for the Collaborative Control of the UAV-UGV (UAV-UGV의 협업제어를 위한 향상된 Target Tracking에 관한 연구)

  • This paper suggests the target tracking method improved for the collaboration of the quad rotor type UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and omnidirectional Unmanned Ground Vehicle. If UAV shakes or UGV moves rapidly, the existing method generates a phenomenon that the tracking object loses the tracking target. To solve the problems, we propose an algorithm that can track continually when they lose the target. The proposed algorithm stores the vector of the landmark. And if the target was lost, the control signal was inputted so that the landmark could move continuously to the direction running out. Prior to the experiment, Proportional and integral control were used in 4 motors in order to calibrate the Heading value of the omnidirectional mobile robot. The landmark of UGV was recognized as the camera adhered to UAV and the target was traced through the proportional-integral-derivative control. Finally, the performance of the target tracking controller and proposed algorithm was evaluated through the experiment.

Packet Loss Concealment Algorithm Based on Robust Voice Classification in Noise Environment (잡음환경에 강인한 음성분류기반의 패킷손실 은닉 알고리즘)

  • The quality of real-time Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network is affected by network impariments such as delays, jitters, and packet loss. This paper proposes a packet loss concealment algorithm based on voice classification for enhancing VoIP speech quality. In the proposed method, arriving packets are classified by an adaptive thresholding approach based on the analysis of multiple features of short signal segments. The excellent classification results are used in the packet loss concealment. Additionally, linear prediction-based packet loss concealment delivers high voice quality by alleviating the metallic artifacts due to concealing consecutive packet loss or recovering lost packet.

Utilization of Phase Information for Speech Recognition (음성 인식에서 위상 정보의 활용)

  • Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients(: MFCC) is one of the noble feature vectors for speech signal processing. An evident drawback in MFCC is that the phase information is lost by taking the magnitude of the Fourier transform. In this paper, we consider a method of utilizing the phase information by treating the magnitudes of real and imaginary components of FFT separately. By applying this method to speech recognition with FVQ/HMM, the speech recognition error rate is found to decrease compared to the conventional MFCC. By numerical analysis, we show also that the optimal value of MFCC components is 12 which come from 6 real and imaginary components of FFT each.

  • Fiber fracture is one of the dominant failure phenomena to determine total mechanical properties in composites. Fiber fracture locations were measured by optical microscopic method and acoustic emission (AE) as functions of matrix toughness and surface treatment by the electrodeposition (ED), and then two methods were compared. Two AE sensors were attached on the epoxy specimen and fiber fracture signals were detected with elapsed time. The interfacial shear stress (IFSS) was measured using tensile fragmentation test and AE system. In ED-treated case, the number of the fiber fracture measured by an optical method and AE was more than that of the untreated case. The signal number measured by AE were rather smaller than the number of fragments measured by optical method, since some fiber fracture signals were lost while AE detection. However, one-to-one correspondence between the x-position location by AE and real break positions by optical method was generally established well. The fiber break source location using AE can be a valuable method to measure IFSS for semi- or nontransparent matrix composites nondestructively (NDT).

Comparison of Images Using Optimized Grid and Images Using Grid Supperession Software in the Diagnosis of Micro Lesions (미세병변 진단에서 Optimized Grid을 사용한 영상과 Grid Supperession Software를 사용한 영상의 비교분석)

  • Quantitative analysis was performed to confirm that moire artifact was removed without loss of image when using grid suppression software in the diagnosis of micro lesions. we showed that grid suppression images can be morphologically different from original images as they are significantly lower than those of the optimized grid in the similarity analysis with reference images in mammographic phantom images. We were confirmed that images of microcalcification with smaller signal than noise were lost because the pixel values of all lesions increased significantly after the grid suppression, The change in contrast using the NORMI 13 X-ray test phantom was reduced to 30% of the reference image, This result was significantly lower than the 90% when using the optimized grid. In conclusion, the use of grid suppression software in clinical images should be carefully considered because of the possibility of misdiagnosis due to micro lesion loss and morphological changes.
