  • With the rapidity of the development on electronic technology, various mobile devices are produced to make human life more convenient. The user is always in constant search of middle with ease of deployment. Therefore, the development of infrastructure and application with ubiquitous nature gets a growing keen interest. Recently, the number of pervasive network services is expanding into ubiquitous computing environment. To get desired services, user presents personal details about this identity, location and private information. The information transmitted and the services provided in pervasive computing environments (PCEs) are exposed to eavesdropping and various attacks. Therefore, the need to protect this environment from illegal accesses has become extremely urgent. In this paper, we propose an anonymous authentication and access control scheme to secure the interaction between mobile users and services in PCEs. The proposed scheme integrates a biometric authentication in PKI model. The proposed authentication aims to secure access remote in PCE for guaranteeing reliability and availability. Our authentication concept can offer pervasive network service users convenience and security.

  • Structural model of laminated composite plates based on the first order shear deformable plate theory and subjected to a combination of magnetic and thermal fields is developed. Coupled equations of motion are derived via Hamilton's principle on the basis of electromagnetic equations (Faraday, Ampere, Ohm, and Lorenz equations) and thermal equations which are involved in constitutive equations. In order to obtain the implications of a number of geometrical and physical features of the model, one special case is investigated, that is, free vibration of a composite plate immersed in a transversal magnetic field. Special coupling effects between the magnetic and elastic fields are revealed in this paper.

  • Recently, a pixel-chaotic-shuffling (PCS) method has been proposed by Huang et al. for encrypting color images using multiple chaotic systems like the Henon, the Lorenz, the Chua, and the Rossler systems. All of which have great encryption performance. The authors claimed that their pixel-chaotic-shuffle (PCS) encryption method has high confidential security. However, the security analysis of the PCS method against the chosen-plaintext attack (CPA) and known-plaintext attack (KPA) performed by Solak et al. successfully breaks the PCS encryption scheme without knowing the secret key. In this paper we present an improved shuffling pattern for the plaintext image bits to make the cryptosystem proposed by Huang et al. resistant to chosen-plaintext attack and known-plaintext attack. The modifications in the existing PCS encryption method are proposed to improve its security performance against the potential attacks described above. The Number of Pixel Change Rate (NPCR), Unified Average Changed Intensity (UACI), information entropy, and correlation coefficient analysis are performed to evaluate the statistical performance of the modified PCS method. The simulation analysis reveals that the modified PCS method has better statistical features and is more resistant to attacks than Huang et al.'s PCS method.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the financial status of Korean elderly households to make a financial plan for retirement preparation. The sample obtained from 1997 KHPS, consisted of 326 households of 55-64 aged and 210 households of 65 and over aged. Statistics employed for the analysis were frequencies, percentile, univariate analysis and logistic analysis. And Lorenz curve and Gini coefficient were used to compare the financial status. The results could be summarized as follows. First, total income, total expenditure, total debt and net worth of 55-64 aged group were higher than those of 65 and over group, while total asset of 55-64 aged group was similar to 65 and over group's Second, total expediture to total imcome ratio(R1) and total asset to total debt ratio(R4) of 55-64 aged group were higher than 65 and over group's, but net worth to minimum cost of living ratio(R2) and financial asset to monthly expenditure ratio(R3) of 65 and over group were higher than 55-64 aged group's . Third, R4's Gini coefficient was the highest and R1's Gini coefficient was the lowest among all Gini coefficients. Also, R1's and R4's Gini coefficients of 55-64 aged group were greater than 65 and over group's. ourth, variables affecting R1's stability of 55-64 aged group were household head's age, educatonal attainment and family type, while those of 65 and over group were household head's age, past economic experience and the number of children. There was no significant variable affecting R2's stability of 55-64 aged group, but there was only household head's pst economic experience affecting those of 65 and over group. The variable contributing to R3's stability of 55-64 aged group was residence while the variables of 65 and over group were household head's educational attainment, past economic experience and the number of children. The variables contributing to R4's stability of 55-64 aged group were the number of children and residence, and the number of children was one variable of contributing to R4's stability of 65 and over aged group.

  • With technological development including digitization, movie demand and supply in digital online movie market are increasing. This study aims to explore demand concentration of the digital online movie market, which is characterized by product variety compared to cinemas. Major findings of the empirical analysis on the TV VOD data during the recent seven years(2013 ~ 2019) are as follows. First, the analysis on 1,137 titles reveals that movie demand of theatrical market is more concentrated than that of TV VOD. Second, absolute long tail index of TV VOD, measured by the download number of indie & artistic movies(niche product), is increasing as more such movies are released in the market. However, both relative long tail index, measured by the share of indie & artistic movie demand, and top-ranked movies' share do not show consistent increase or decrease trend. Third, regression analysis exhibits that the relationship between demand concentration and market size is insignificant for TV VOD market. This study might have usefulness in that it provides empirical evidence for the nature of the Korean digital online movie market.

  • Twitter has been continuously growing since October, 2006. Especially, not only the users and the number of messages have been increasing but also a new concept in social networking called 'micro blogging' has diffused. Within Korea, service such as 'me2day' has already been introduced and the improvement of internet accessibility within mobile devices is expected to expand the 'micro blogs'. In this point, this research is executed to study the new medium, 'micro blog'. To do so, we collected and analyzed Twitter logs of Korean users. Especially, we were curious about the extreme heavy users using Twitter, despite of the linguistic and cultural barrier of the foreign service. Who they are, why and how they use the 'micro blog'. First, we reviewed the general aspect of followers and messages by collecting a certain number of random samples. Using the Lorenz curve we found out that there was the imbalance within the users and based on this phenomenon we deducted an extreme heavy user group. In order to perform further analysis, log analysis was performed on the extreme heavy users. As the result, the users used multiple mobile and desktop 'Twitter' clients. The usage pattern was similar to that of internet usage time but was used during their "micro" time. The users using 'Twitter' not only to spread messages about important information, special events and emotions, but also as a habitual 'chatting tool' to express ordinary personal chats similar to SMS and IM services. In this research, it is proved that 68% of the total messages were ordinary personal chats. Also, with 24% of the total messages were retweets, we were able to find out that virtually connected 'people' and 'relationships' acted as the dominant trigger of their articulation.

  • This study was conducted to assess the equity in the regional insurance scheme through analysis of the computerized data from one regional insurance society and National Federation of Medical Insurance. We analysed the insurance contribution and benefit by the classes based on total and income-related contribution per household. The major findings of this study are as follows : 1. The average proportion of income-related contribution among the total was 39.2% and the upper classes show higher proportion of the income-related contribution. 2. The upper classes show higher health care utilization rate than the lower classes. It suggests that the lower classes have relatively large unmet medical needs. 3. The analysis through the Lorenz curve reveals that there exists transference of contributions from the upper to lower classes. But the cumulative percentage of insurance benefit is smaller than that of the number of the insured. It implies that regional medical insurance scheme in Korea has still some inequity in the context of social security principles.
