  • As the issue of population decline in rural areas becomes more pressing, long stay tourism has emerged as a potential response, yet research on this topic remains limited. This study aims to examine the effects of long stay tourism attributes on regional image and visitation intention, focusing on the second baby boomer generation reaching the legal retirement age in Jeju Island. The long stay tourism attributes analyzed include natural environment, cultural environment, safety of living, convenience of living, and job environment. The findings indicate that the natural environment, cultural environment, and job environment positively influence the regional image and intention to visit as long stay tourist destinations. However, convenience of living was found to have a negative impact on visitation intention. Unlike existing research on long stay tourism, this study identifies the job environment as a unique characteristic of long stay tourism and confirms its significant influence on visitation intention. Therefore, local governments aiming to promote long stay tourism should focus on developing job opportunities in rural areas and enhancing accessibility to these jobs.

It provides medical information according to each type and recommends customized tourist destinations. User-based collaborative filtering is applied for tourist destination recommendations.

  • This study analysed changes in rural tourism between before and after COVID-19 using LDA topic analysis. In order to understand the changes in rural tourism, blog data including the keyword 'Gochang-gun travel' was used. As a result of LDA topic analysis with blog data retrieved, the study found nine topics in 2019 and 2020. 2019 and 2020 are, generally, consistent in topics, but the three topics related to rural experiential tourism that appeared in 2019 did not appear in 2020. In 2020, three new topics emerged: Beach vacations and campings. New travel activities of noncontact with other people(Untact tourism in Korean context) in the COVID-19 era, and The negative impacts on travel businesses and behaviours from COVID-19. Especially, the adverse effects of COVID-19 have made an enormous decline in rural experience tourism destinations and cancellation of local festivals. On the other hand, new tourism activities have emerged due to COVID-19. Those activities have included camping, drive-thru destinations, and cycling. Ecological and natural tourist sites such as Ungok Wetland, Seonunsan Mountain, Seonunsa Temple, and Gusipo Beach appeared. These tourist destinations have a quiet atmosphere and less density place noncontacting with other people when visiting. Also, because overseas travel has become difficult, long-term stay travel in rural areas has appeared. This study indicates that COVID-19 has less impacted rural tourism than other tourism destinations with these positive and negative impacts.

  • From the migrant care-workers arriving in Japan from the Philippines and Indonesia to support the depleted social support system for the large population of the elderly (Ogawa 2012) to the increasing number of retiring Japanese embarking on long-stay tourism in Malaysia (Ono 2015), the Japanese image of Southeast Asia as an exotic destination offering cheap labor in return for official development assistance seems to be fading away. Yet these changes are not necessarily reflected in the way contemporary Japanese, especially those who belong to the global, "spiritual-but not-religious" (Fuller 2001) population, think of and "consume" Southeast Asia in their daily lives. Using three case-studies, spiritual tours, Thai massage, and an NGO founded by a Japanese spiritual therapist, this paper argues that in Japan's large spiritual market, which targets people seeking alternative ways to express their religiosity, the old-fashioned colonial exoticism of Southeast Asian narratives were integrated in a totalizing discourse, in which Japan remains the exceptional outlier (Tanaka 1993), a country still claimed to be "advanced" both spiritually and economically.

  • The purpose of this research was to develop healing food dishes for the vitalization of forest healing tourism in agricultural areas by enhancing satisfaction of food experiences by visitors to Mount Chungnyeong, Jangseong. Results from site visitation by three professors from food-related departments, association opinions, Jangseong-gun policies, and research materials relating to healing foods were applied for the preparatory experimental cooking, and the final dishes were selected through a food demonstration event. As a result of observation during the site visitation, the main dishes of the subject restaurant appeared to be limited to Samchae Bibimbap, Samchae Ddeokgabi, and Korean set menu items, revealing a limited selection for tourists and referencing a failure to induce customer attraction and long-term stay. Development of a menu conforming to the image of forest healing at Mount Chungnyeong is desperately needed. As a result of applying the results of the surveys from visitors to Mount Chungnyeong, the types of dishes preferred appeared to be Korean table d'hote and Bibimbap, and pork was preferred as the $entr{\acute{e}}e$. The characteristics of preferred dishes appeared to be based on tradition and regionality. Thus, Forest Healing Savory Dish, Yellow Health Dish, and Samchae Kalguksu applying the policy direction of the Yellow City, Jangseong-gun and the image of Jangseong-gun based on Confucianism were developed. Tourists may further enhance the effectiveness of forest healing through foods based on dishes by adding traditional taste using seasonal food ingredients and local specialties, which can contribute to the vitalization of forest healing tourism.
