  • During the initial design phases for prestressed concrete structures, the mecessary information concerning the physical properties of the hardened concrete such as creep, drying shrinkage, modulus of elasticity, and Poisson's ratio are obtained from design assumptions or accepted standards. But these assumptions may not totally reflect the actual long-term behavior of the concrete. So they may be of limited use in predicting the actual behavior. The purpose of this paper is to describe the test procedures and methods of evaluation which were used during the long-term study.

  • Generally, it is difficult to predict water quality in a tidal river, because tidal flows make the transport phenomena more complicated. The purpose of this study is to clarify long-term mass transport in a tidal river through suggestion of simulation model. A simulation model based on a Lagrangian coordinate system, which has the advantage reducing numerical dispersion, was used to calculate changes in concentration of chlorides. Several field surveys were conducted to verify calculated results. Concludingly, long-term behavior of mas transport in a tidal river can be represented using the model.

  • Long-term tide-gauge data from around the Korean Peninsula were reanalyzed. Both the coastal water and the open sea surrounding the Korean Peninsula appeared to have been influenced by global warming. The long-term change in relative sea levels obtained from tidal stations showed a general rising trend, especially near Jeju Island. It is proposed that global warming may have caused shifting of the path of the Kuroshio branch (Tsushima Warm Current) toward Jeju Island, causing a persistent increase in the water levels along the coast of the island over the last few decades.

  • In this paper, the status of forest and forestry together with the trend of forest hydrology in Japan are firstly overviewed for the mutual understanding between the Japan Society of Hydrology and Water Resources (JSHWR) and the Korean Water Resources Association (KWRA). Then, Long-Term Ecological Research recently introduced in Asia is briefly explained, and the establishment of Japan-Korea Long-Term Forest Hydrological Research Network is proposed.

  • The construction of large scale civil and building structures which form the base of social economy has been grown greatly. As the increasing of aged and deteriorated structures, it is necessary to evaluate the safety of those structures. The deterioration, safety evaluation, repair and rehabilitation are important problems in the construction area that every country faces. This paper presents the general information on how to conduct a data analysis of long-term monitoring system and evaluate the characteristics of surveying methods.

  • This paper was prepared to have an overview of the Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER ) activities in Korea in order to facilitate further development of Korea LTER Network in the coming 21th century. After the background for the development of the Korea LTER network was reviewed, the network activities of Korea as well as of the world were introduced for sound management and conservation of ecosystems, which can be ultimately carried out by the long-term ecological researches whose results can secure comparability in the dimension of time and space.

  • The long-term light curves of the novalikes TT Ari, KR Aur, AM Her and MV Lyr, were compiled and analysed for solar-like cyclical behaviour. The frequency analysis showed long-term cyclical modulations of the brightness of the stars, which can be ascribed to changes of the radii of the late type secondaries in order of ${\Delta}R/R{\simeq} 10^{-4}-10^{-5}$.

  • In this study, We analyzed that evacuation characteristics of residents, fire safety standards, evacuation facilities and flame retardation, etc to increase the evacuation safety of a long-term care hospital. Therefore, In order to improve of evacuation safety in case of fire, We proposed that an increase in the number of care workers, education, training and an amendment to the law, a change of positions of fire safety controller.

  • The purpose of this study was to be identified the perception toward long-term care insurance system among seniors in health and welfare colleges. The questionnaire was distributed to 207 students in a local area. Data were analyzed by SPSS 22.0ver. The subjects' interest and knowledge level an long-term care insurance system was low, but the attitude was positive. Knowledge levels and attitudes related to lang - term care insurance system were found to differ according to elderly institutional service experience. In conclusion, it will be necessary to develop curriculum and active program of volunteer activities to improve the awareness and interest of lang-term care insurance system in health and welfare colleges.

  • Korean red ginseng (KRG) is prepared by the process of steaming the roots of Panax ginseng. In this study, the feeding effects of KRG-water extract (KRGE) on ethanol-induced liver damage were elucidated by measuring serum biomarkers in rats. Serum ${\gamma}$-glutamyltranspeptidase (g-GT) activity and the concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA) were significantly increased by short-term and long-term ethanol treatment in rats, whereas the activities of serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT) and glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT) did not respond. Pretreatment with KRGE maintained the activity of serum GPT, and the MDA concentration induced by short-term ethanol ingestion remained within the normal range. However, co-feeding of KRGE to rats decreased the concentration of MDA but failed to modulate the serum ${\gamma}$-GT activity induced by long-term ethanol treatment. Our studies suggest that in rats, it appears that KRGE does not sufficiently reverse the physiological response evoked by long-term ethanol ingestion to maintain normal conditions, in view of the serum biomarker ${\gamma}$-GT, regardless of KRGE's favorable antioxidant activity.
