There is growing interest in CBTC(Communication Based Train Control) system in accordance with the development of the communication technologies. The CBTC system, which adopts the moving block, has advantages such as headway and installation cost reduction compared with the existing system with fixed block. For the moving block system, it is required to locate the trains in real-time. Based on EPLRS(Enhanced Position Location Reporting System) technology, the train position can be provided only through the communication between radios. This paper introduces EPLRS based train detection method and verifies its effect by instance.

This research aims to develop practical location-based services that provide users with personalized theater guide services on smart phones. In this research, we have designed and implemented a smart theater guide system for Deahakro, Seoul based on smart phones incorporating GPS. This system first identifies the current position using GPS, and maps the current position onto the map. It is designed and implemented to provide users with personalized information service about the plays and the theaters nearby the current position. It is also optimized to be useful effectively by performing on-site experiments.
This paper investigates the performance of the hyperbolic position location(PL) technique in CDMA system. Hyperbolic PL systems are such technology that can provide accurate PL information using the existing cellualr/PCS infrastructure and without requiring additional hardware/software implementation within the mobile unit. The channel simulation is obtained by applying AWGN and multipath fading. The effect of the mobile position within the cell and the number of base stations on the accuracy of the hyperbolic PL technique is investigated.
This paper presents a system for estimating the position of a magnet using a magnetic sensor. An algorithm is presented to analyze the waveform and output voltage values of the magnetic field generated at each position when the magnet moves and to estimate the position of the magnet based on the analyzed data. Here, the magnet is sufficiently small to be inserted into a blood vessel and has a micro-magnetic field of hundreds of nanoteslas owing to the small size and shape of the guide wire. In this study, a highly sensitive magneto-impedance (MI) sensor was used to detect these micro-magnetic fields. Nine MI sensors were arranged in a 3×3 configuration to detect a magnetic field that changes according to the position of the magnet through the MI sensor, and the voltage value output was polynomially regressed to specify a position value for each voltage value. The accuracy was confirmed by comparing the actual position value with the estimated position value by expanding it from a 1D straight line to a 3D space. Additionally, we could estimate the position of the magnet within a 3% error.

Recently, With the development of smart devices of interest in the intelligent indoor positioning service with a smart terminal it is increasing. The BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy) is an indoor location positioning technology has attracted the attention. However, there is no way to check the reliability of the position information collected by the smart terminal receiving a big location data. This is because the reliability of an indoor position information because of a signal interference to drop. In this paper, we propose a method of managing big data collected in order to obtain reliable position information from the position information of iBeacon.

This paper describes a system for location tracking wireless sensor nodes in an indoor environment. The sensor reading used for the location estimation is the received signal strength indication (RSSI) as given by an RF interface. By tagging users with a mobile node and deploying a number of reference nodes at fixed position in the room, the received signal strength indicator can be used to determine the position of tagged users. The system combines Euclidean distance technique with signal strength obtained by measurement driven log-normal path loss model of 2.4 GHz wireless channel. The experimental results demonstrated the ability of this system to estimate the location with a error less than 1.3m.

In future domestic context aware applications the location of mobile devices is often required. Ultrasonic technology enables high resolution indoor position measurements. A disadvantage of state-of-art ultrasonic systems is that several base stations are required to estimate 3D position. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of using UPS as a 3D free-hand writing or drawing tool. The processes include the design and testing of UPS as an efficient 3D free-hand writing or drawing tool in the air. The paper will further explain the system architecture of the UPS and how to use GPS as 3D free-hand writing or drawing tool. The efficiency and effectiveness of the system was confirmed by a computer software simulation. The software will further display the result of drawing or writing from the user by graphics. As a result, it is possible to implement UPS as a 3D free-hand writing or drawing tool in the air.
In fingerprint-based wireless positioning, it is necessary to establish a DB of the unmeasured area. To this end, a method of estimating the position of a base station based on a signal propagation model, and a method of estimating the information of the received signal in the unmeasured area based on the estimated position of the base station have been investigating. The purpose of this paper is to estimate the position of the base station using the measured information and to analyze the performance of the positioning. Vehicles equipped with a GPS receiver and signal measuring equipment travel the service area and acquire location-based Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) measurements. We propose a method of estimating the position of the base station using the measured information. And the performance of the proposed method is analyzed on a simulation basis. The simulation results confirm that the accuracy of the positioning is affected by the measured area and the Dilution of Precision (DOP), the accuracy of the position information obtained by the GPS receiver, and the errors of the signal included in the RSRP. Based on the results of this paper, we can expect that the position of the base station can be estimated and the DB of the unmeasured area can be constructed based on the estimated position of the base stations and the signal propagation model.

Most car navigation systems(CNS) estimate the vehicle's location using global positioning system(GPS) or dead reckoning(DR) system. However, the estimated location has undesirable errors because of various noise sources such as unpredictable GPS noises. As a result, the measured position is not lying on the road, although the vehicle is known to be restricted on the road network. The purpose of map matching is to locate the vehicle's position on the road network where the vehicle is most likely to be positioned. In this paper, we analyze some general map matching algorithms first. Then, we propose a map matching method using compensation vectors to improve the performance of map matching. The proposed method calculates a compensation vector from the discrepancy between a measured position and an estimated position. The compensation vector and a newly measured position are to be used to determine the next estimation. To show the performance improvement of the map matching using compensation vectors, the real time map matching experiments are performed. The real road experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed map matching.
Smart care surveillance system can take the position information of the user and monitor by controlling neighbor CCTVs using GPS receiver built into smart device. But because the position information contains a significant error, in general smart device, it is necessary to be corrected for precise monitoring. In previous smart care system, this error is corrected by using a plurality of CCTV. But it has disadvantage that two or more CCTVs pointed toward the same point at the same time. In this paper, we propose the method to correct error of the GPS location information by using only one CCTV. With experiment result, we find that the accuracy of GPS location information corrected with only one CCTV is as improved as two CCTVs.
