  • The first part of this two-part paper discussed some basic considerations on bond strength and its effect on strain localization and plastic deformation capacity of cracked structural concrete, and analytically evaluated the impacts of the hardening behavior of reinforcing steel and concrete quality on the basis of the Tension Chord Model. This second part assesses the impacts of the most frequently encountered construction details of existing concrete structures which may not satisfy current design code requirements: bar ribbing, bar spacing, and concrete cover thickness. It further evaluates the impacts of the additional structure-specific features bar diameter and crack spacing. It concludes with some considerations on the application of the findings in practice and an outlook on future research needs.

  • Based on their shift and scale orthogonality properties, scaling and wavelet functions may be used as signaling functions having good frequency localization as determined by the fractional-out-of-band power (FOOBP). In this paper, application of Daubechies' wavelet and scaling functions as baseband signaling functions is described, with a focus on finding discretely realizable pulse-shaping transfer function circuits whose outputs approximate scaling and wavelet functions when driven by more conventional digital signaling waveforms. It is also shown that the inter-symbol interference (ISI) introduced by the approximation has negligible effect on the performance in terms of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Moreover, the approximations are often more bandwidth efficient than the original wavelet functions. These waveforms thus illustrate an example solution of a tradeoff between residual ISI and bandwidth efficiency as a signal design problem.

The importance of ATC device was increased gradually, and also is acting important role in safe train running and efficient use in this reason. Now, railway vehicle that is manufactured or is remodeled are designed to most automatic driving system, and ATC device design direction than other device of railway vehicle influences to whole system in this reason. Also, according as system becomes complicated gradually, importance of fault tracing function fur ATC device is emphasized gradually, and in this reason research about efficient fault tracing method is to act important role heightening reliability of ATC device. In this document, that analyzing about result through examination of automatic train operation system of localization model ATC device(SG-100) and application example, and do so that investigate about efficient fault Bracing.

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of embedded systems and autonomous path generation for autonomous speed sprayer. Autonomous Orchard Systems can be divided into embedded controller and path generation module. Embedded controller receives analog sensor data, on/off switch data and control linear actuator, break, clutch and steering module. In path generation part, we get 3D cloud point using Velodyne VLP16 LIDAR sensor and process the point cloud to generate maps, do localization, generate driving path. Then, it finally generates velocity and rotation angle in real time, and sends the data to embedded controller. Embedded controller controls steering wheel based on the received data. The developed autonomous speed sprayer is verified in test-bed with apple tree-shaped artworks.

  • Single-port video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) has slowly established itself as an alternate surgical approach for the treatment of an increasingly wide range of thoracic conditions. The potential benefits of fewer surgical incisions, better cosmesis, and less postoperative pain and paraesthesia have led to the technique's popularity worldwide. The limited single small incision through which the surgeon has to operate poses challenges that are slowly being addressed by improvements in instrument design. Of note, instruments and video-camera systems that are narrower and angulated have made single-port VATS major lung resection easier to perform and learn. In the future, we may see the development of subcostal or embryonic natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery access, evolution in anaesthesia strategies, and cross-discipline imaging-assisted lesion localization for single-port VATS procedures.

  • Corpora annotated with lots of linguistic information are required to develop robust and statistical natural language processing systems. Building such corpora, however, is an expensive, labor-intensive, and time-consuming work. To help the work, we design and implement an annotation tool for establishing a Korean dependency tree-tagged corpus. Compared with other annotation tools, our tool is characterized by the following features: independence of applications, localization of errors, powerful error checking, instant annotated information sharing, user-friendly. Using our tool, we have annotated 100,904 Korean sentences with dependency structures. The number of annotators is 33, the average annotation time is about 4 minutes per sentence, and the total period of the annotation is 5 months. We are confident that we can have accurate and consistent annotations as well as reduced labor and time.

  • Object detection and tracking using visual sensors is a critical component of surveillance systems, which presents many challenges. This paper addresses the enhancement of object detection and tracking via the combination of multiple visual sensors. The enhancement method we introduce compensates for missed object detection based on the partial detection of objects by multiple visual sensors. When one detects an object or more visual sensors, the detected object's local positions transformed into a global object position. Local and global information exchange allows a missed local object's position to recover. However, the exchange of the information may degrade the detection and tracking performance by incorrectly recovering the local object position, which propagated by false object detection. Furthermore, local object positions corresponding to an identical object can transformed into nonequivalent global object positions because of detection uncertainty such as shadows or other artifacts. We improved the performance by preventing the propagation of false object detection. In addition, we present an evaluation method for the final global object position. The proposed method analyzed and evaluated using case studies.

  • In this study, a remote controller was designed using localization technique. The designed remote controller system consists of infrared transmit/receive module for time synchronization, ultrasonic transmit/receive module for measuring the TOA value, and micro-controller for processing the measured data value. For the position estimation method of remote controller, the Savarese method was used which does not have a problem of diverging solution depending on initial value. The noise included in the measured value was removed by separating the signal and noise with the use of EMD method which is the non-stationary signal analysis technique. The designed system was tested by constructing a simulation environment, and the improvement of accuracy and precision for the application of EMD method was examined.

  • The mechanical behavior of Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites (FRCC) under direct shear is studied through experiment and analytical simulation. The cementitious composite considered contains 55% replacement of cement with fly ash and 2% (volume ratio) of short discontinuous synthetic fibers (in the form of mass reinforcement, comprising PVA - Polyvinyl Alcohol fibers). This class of cementitious materials exhibits ductility under tension with the formation of multiple fine cracks and significant delay of crack stabilization (i.e., localization of cracking at a single location). One of the behavioral parameters that concern structural design is the shear strength of this new type of fiber reinforced composites. This aspect was studied in the present work with the use of Push-off tests. The shear strength is then compared to the materials' tensile and splitting strength values.

  • In the millenium, which will be characterized by its global culture, a strong sense of identity of one's culture is needed to nature one's culture in a way that more people can participate in creating, enjoying and consuming it. In order to respond to both globalization and localization, natural and cultural backgrounds of such should be considered in the conversation of nature, so that the optical and color environment can have local identity while undergoing sustainable development. Therefore, the objective of this research is to enhance the image of a city, which is endowed with beautiful scenery and unique culture, but has lost its identity since industrialization An through a scientific and systematic color planning The Research was conducted as follows. First, color environment which doesn't reflect local characteristics due to modernism which emphasizes on uniformity was examined. Second, standard and analysis of environment color planning were examined. Natural color specimen was use to make a palette of nature colors, from which colors for architecture were extracted to come up with color combination types. Without traditional architecture philosophy, materials and colors, which were once in harmony with the environment, it is impossible to clean up the environment all together. However by using colors to control new city plans, urban redevelpment, construction and renovation gradually, that process can be effective and less costly.
