  • It is generally recognized that Video On Demand (VOD) service will become a promising interactive service in B-ISDN. We consider a hierarchical two level network architecture for VOD service. The first level consists of connected Local Video Servers(LVSs) in which a limited number of high vision programs are stored. The second level has one Central Video Server(CVS) containing all the programs served in the network. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the network traffic and to propose the storage policy for LVSs. For this purpose, we present an analysis of program storage amount in each LVS, transmission traffic volume between LVSs, and link traffic volume between CVS and LVSs, according to changing the related factors such as demand, the number of LVSs is also presented on the basis of the tradeoffs among program storage cost, link traffic cost, and transmission cost.

반조리 냉동 육류제품의 저장 및 재가열 방법에 따른 지방 산화율 측정 (Measurement of Lipid Oxidation Rates in Semi-prepared Frozen Muscle Foods During Various Storage and Reheating Conditions)

  • Semi-prepared frozen muscle foods purchased from local industry were tested for lipid oxidation. The effects of various storage conditions, cooking methods, defrosting methods and reheating methods on rancidity were examined using TBA assay and sensory evaluation. TBARS values were increased faster in cooked samples than in uncooked ones during storage periods. During refrigeration of cooked samples, TBARS values were increased significantly for 15 days (p<0.001). In defrosting experiments, refrigerated defrosting was proven to be better compared with room temperature or microwave defrosting (p<0.05). For overall explanation, stepwise regression analysis was done and the results are in this order: storage conditions, cooking methods, moisture content, and lipid content. Using these 4 variables, TBARS values could be explained by 40~53%.

  • iSCSI is a block-oriented storage access protocol that enables a user to recognize a remote storage as their own local block device through general TCP/IP networks. This paper presents an alternative approach to overcome the limited storage space of mobile devices based on the iSCSI initiator driver in IPv6 environment, which was originally designed for wired networks.

Optimization of Layout Design in an AS/RS for Maximizing its Throughput Rate

  • In this paper, we address a layout design problem for determining a K-class-based dedicated storage layout in an automated storage retrieval system. K-class-based dedicated storage employs K zones in which lots from a class of products are stored randomly. Zones form a partition of storage locations. Our objective function is to minimize the expected single command travel time, which is expressed as a set function of space requirements for zones, average demand rates from classes, and one-way travel times from the pickup/deposit station to locations. We construct a heuristic algorithm based on analytical results and a local search method, the methodology deveolped can be used with easily-available data by warehouse planners to improve the throughput capacity of a conventional warehouse as well as an AS/RS.

아파트 부엌의 수납실태와 거주자 만족도 (The storage space and the degree of residents' satisfaction for kitchen in apartment house)

  • The purpose of this study was to supply the basic data for the plan of the storage space in the kitchen by investigating the actual condition of the use and residents' satisfaction. The questionnaires were distributed to 136 families of the local apartment in South Chung-Cheong Province of Korea. The results were summarized as follows; first, among the furniture for storage, the upper and lower space have been installed in every furniture. The general tablewares were stored in the upper part of the kitchen and the frequently used goods for cooking were largely stored in the lower part. Second, in the method of reforming the kitchen space, it showed highest figure in case of purchasing the shelf and there were many cases of storing things by using the subsidiary storage furniture and boxes and it came to the conclusion that the housewives have a tendency to solve the storage problem by using the less expensive, simple and passive ways. Third, in the degree of satisfaction for the space for storage, it showed that the respondents were a little bit dissatisfied with the size of storage space, the position of furniture for storage, the convenience for using and the storage rapacity. Among the furniture for storage in the kitchen, the degree of satisfaction for the upper and lower parts was a little bit low, but it is higher for the others. For the plan of storage space, the aesthetic appreciation reflects visually being in order was considered to be the important factor.

Experimental study on the cryogenic thermal storage unit (TSU) below -70 ℃

  • Over the past four years, as the COVID-19 pandemic has struck the world, cold chain of COVID-19 vaccination has become a hot topic. In order to overcome the pandemic situation, it is necessary to establish a cold chain that maintains a low-temperature environment below approximately 203K (-70℃), which is the appropriate storage temperature for vaccines, from vaccine suppliers to local hospitals. Usually, cryocoolers are used to maintain low temperatures, but it is difficult for small-scale local distribution to have cryocooler due to budget and power supply issues. Accordingly, in this paper, a cryogenic TSU (Thermal storage unit) system for vaccination cold chain is designed that can maintain low temperatures below -70℃C for a long time without using a cryocooler. The performance of the TSU system according to the energy storage material for using as TSU is experimentally evaluated. In the experiments, four types of cold storage materials were used: 20% DMSO aqueous solution, 30% DMSO aqueous solution, paraffin wax, and tofu. Prior to the experiment, the specific heat of the cold storage materials at low temperature were measured. Through this, the thermal diffusivity of the materials was calculated, and paraffin wax had the lowest value. As a result of the TSU system's low-temperature maintenance test, paraffin wax showed the best low-temperature maintenance performance. And it recorded a low-temperature maintenance time that was about 24% longer than other materials. As a result of analyzing the temperature trend by location within the TSU system, it was observed that heat intrusion from the outside was not well transmitted to the low temperature area due to the low thermal conductivity of paraffin wax. Therefore, in the TSU system for vaccine storage, it was experimentally verified that the lower the thermal diffusivity of the cold storage material, the better low temperature maintenance performance.

저장방법이 지황 종근 품질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Storage Methods on the Rhizome Quality of Rehmannia glutinosa L.)

  • 지황의 안정적인 저장으로 종근 비용을 절감하고자 재래종과 생육특성이 상이한 지황 1호를 공시하여 저장 후 120일 동안의 저장방법에 따른 종근 특성을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 지황의 저장방법별 온도변화는 움저장에서 7.2∼13.8$^{\circ}C$로 가장 적었고 스치로폼상자내 흙을 충진한 저장에서 높았으며, 습도는 움저장에서 98.2%로 가장 높았다. 당도와 중량 감모율 그리고 부패율은 저장기간이 경과할수록 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 왕겨를 충진한 망사와 스치로폼상자내 저장에서 당도와 중량 감모율이 높았으나, 부패율은 움저장에서 27.5%로 가장 높았다. 저장중 경도의 변화는 저장기간이 경과할수록 표피의 경도는 증가하는 경향이었으나, 내부 경도는 감소하는 경향을 보였다.

  • Optimal operation of a combined sewer network with distributed storage facilities aims to use the whole retention capacity of all reservoirs efficiently before overflows take place somewhere in the considered network system. An efficient real-time network control (RTNC) strategy has been emerging as an attractive approach for reducing substantially the overflows from a sewer network compared to the conventional fixed or manually adjusted gate setting method, but the related concrete framework for RTC development has not been throughly introduced so far. The main goal of this study is to give a detailed description of the RTNC systems via reviewing several guidelines published abroad, and finally to suggest methods for the proper application of RTNC on distributed storage facilities. Especially, this study is focused on emphasizing the importance of hierarchical structure of RTNC system that consists of three control layers (management, global control and local control). Further, with regard to the global control layer which is responsible for the central overall network control, the wide-ranging details of two components (adaption and optimization layers) are also presented. This study can provide the valuable basis for the RTNC implementation in the particular sewer network with distributed multiple storage facilities.

Potential of Initial CA Condition on Quality Maintenance of 'Fuji' Apples during Export Simulation after Long-term Storage

  • Effects of initial controlled atmosphere (CA) treatment on quality maintenance of 'Fuji' apples were assessed and compared with 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatment and continuous CA storage. Apples were harvested twice at different maturity, treated with 1 ${\mu}L{\cdot}L^{-1}$ 1-MCP and then stored for 8 months at $0^{\circ}C$ under 3 conditions: air, CA for the first month followed by air (initial CA), and continuous CA (full CA). CA storage was performed with 1.5 kPa $O_2$ and < 1.0 kPa ($N_2$ balance). Following long-term storage, export simulation, refrigerated shipment and local distribution, were performed by holding apples at $0^{\circ}C$ for 2 weeks and on the shelf at $20^{\circ}C$ for 7 days. Both the application of 1-MCP and CA storage reduced ethylene production and respiration rates. Initial CA storage was also effective on reducing the metabolism although the effects were not as noticeable as full CA. Full CA storage with or without 1-MCP treatment maintained titratable acidity, flesh firmness, and sensory quality at the acceptable to excellent level even after the export simulation following 8-month storage regardless of harvest maturity. In contrast, effects of initial CA storage were limited to the maintenance of firmness and texture in early-harvested apples. Overall results indicated that harvest maturity is the critical factor for export fruit quality after long-term storage when separate treatment of initial CA storage or 1-MCP treatment is applied as a postharvest program.

So followings are recommended: 1) The import restriction policy should be continued to expand the demand for the 10callT manufactured facilities, 2) Training of local people and import of advanced technologies should be encouraged 3) The capacities of the local manufacturing industry should be expanded to meet the: increasing demand for the facilities, 4) Further incentives should be affered to the freezing & cold storage sector for the repla¬cement of the worm-out facilities 5) The marketing channel of marine products should be reorganized into ""cold-chain system"" by providing a legislative supports."
