As an increasing amount of Korean animation is being produced for Hollywood films, and/or winning prizes at international animation festivals, Korean animation is proving its growth potential and competitive power. In order for such domestic cartoons and animation to stably develop and maintain firm competitive power in international markets, cartoonists and animators need programs to support their creations, and locations where they can create their works. They also keenly demand the development of various programs and support policies that fit Korea's situation. In addition, if independently produced cartoons and animations have stable locations where they can be shown and commercialized, they can receive public benefits, beyond short-term commercial effects. Based on these views, this study sheds light on the concept, formation, and vitalization of a creation space and resident program, through the intentions of a studio where young and would-be artists create their works. In addition, this study has a significant meaning in that it offers a more effective and positive policy direction, as well as more opportunities to re-educate artists. As a result, it is expected that this study will contribute toward recovering the identity of cartoons and animation, which have been recognized as commercial genres, and to firm up their competitive power in international markets. It also demonstrates that these creation spaces, beyond the simple logic in which a creation space only motivates an artist's desire to create, will help in developing Korean cartoons and animation through cultural and personal exchanges with artists of foreign countries, and through an understanding of other cultures, offer communication programs to connect Seoul and other local communities, and establish the cultural identity of local communities where such creation facilities are located. In this way, the public can more easily understand and access cartoons and animation in their daily lives through these creation spaces.
Seoul metropolitan public transport reform results in the introduction of the semi-public operation and distance-based fare policies. With implementation of these policies, public transport revenue allocation has been (will be) evolved very complicated because the existing revenue allocation issues have not only been clearly solved, which is generated by the combined relationship among Korea Railroad Corporation (KRC). Seoul Metropolitan Subway Corporation (SMSC). Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation (SMRTC), and Incheon Rapid Transit Corporation (IRTC), but also the revenue allocation problem between bus and urban railroad-related organizations need to be considered in this combined framework. On top of that. based on the future plans such as the private sector's railroad construction plan(s), the light rail transit construction plans of several local governments and the join of remained bus lines of Seoul metropolitan areas, it is understood that the revenue allocation among public transport operating organization will become one of main issues of operation organization as well as local and central governments. As a basic approach for revenue allocation of public transport operation organizations, the purpose of this paper is to propose an integrated model applicable to estimate degree of service contribution in passenger carriage in the combined public transport network. With a hypothesis that the complete electronic card system is deployed, this paper supposes every passenger's loading and alighting stations is recordable. Thereby, this paper limits research scope as to Seoul metropolitan railroad area since used route(s) between origin and destination stations can not be traceded because transfer stations each passenger path through is not recorded. Each model proposed in the paper is as follows: 1. a generalized cost reflecting passenger's transfer behavior; 2.a K path model for determining similar routes between O-D; 3.an assignment model for loading O-D trips onto the detected similar routes using Logit Model.

Purpose. The actual status of wearing toric soft contact lenses was investigated to learn why it is not used although it is required. Materials and Methods. This study has studied 64 contact lens wearing the local college students, Gyeongsangnam-do who are 20.17(${\pm}0.70$)years old, by measuring their refractive power and over-refractive power with auto refractometer(HRK-8000A, Huvitz, Korea). In addition to that, a survey was done to figure out why they do not wear toric soft contact lenses, the purpose of using toric soft contact lenses, whether they have astigmatism or any knowledge about it, the kinds of contact lens, whether they are willing to buy corrective lenses, and how they are satisfied after purchasing them. Results. 17 students (21.9%) said they experienced light-spread; 9 students (14.1%)said that they have dizziness when they wear contact lens all day long. In the survey to see whether they had astigmatism or not, 37 students (57.8%) said they had it. For the reason they do not wear toric soft contact lenses, 33 students (51.6%) said that "they were prescribed regardless of astigmatism in the optometrist." To the question asking if they are willing to buy toric soft contact lenses according to the existence of astigmatism, 51 students (79.6%) answered they are. 31 students (48.4%) said they heard a description about astigmatism at the time of purchase for contact lens. Conclusion. As the ways for any people who need to correct astigmatism to wear corrective lens, enough education about astigmatism and consistent follow-up management are needed, where the role of optometrist is considered important.

The enhancement of leaf photosynthetic capacity can have the potential to improve the seed yield of soybean. Key targets for the increase of leaf photosynthetic capacity remains unclear in soybean. Peking, Chinese local variety, has been the useful material for soybean breeding since it shows various resistances against biotic and abiotic stress. Sakoda et al., 2017 reported that Peking had the higher capacity of leaf photosynthesis than Enrei, Japanese elite cultivar. They identified the genetic factors related to high photosynthetic capacity of Peking. The objective of this study is to elucidate the physiological basis underlying high photosynthetic capacity of Peking. Peking and Enrei were cultivated at the experimental field of the Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan. The sowing date was July 4, 2016. Gas exchange parameters were evaluated at the uppermost fully expanded leaves on 43, 49, and 59 days after planting (DAP) with a portable gas exchange system, LI-6400. The leaf hydraulic conductance, $K_{leaf}$, was determined based on the water potential and transpiration rate of the uppermost fully expanded leaves on 60 DAP. The morphological traits related to leaf photosynthesis were analyzed at the same leaves with the gas exchange measurements. The light-saturated $CO_2$ assimilation rate ($A_{sat}$) of Peking was significantly higher than that of Enrei at 43 and 59 DAP while the stomatal conductance ($g_s$) of Peking was significantly higher at all the measurements (p < 0.05). It suggested that high $A_{sat}$ was mainly attributed to high $g_s$ in Peking. $g_s$ is reported to be affected by the morphological traits and water status inside the leaf, represented by $K_{leaf}$, in crop plants. The tendency of the variation of the stomatal density between two cultivars was not consistent throughout the measurements. On the other hand, $K_{leaf}$ of Peking was 59.0% higher than that of Enrei on 60 DAP. These results imply that high $g_s$ might be attributed to high $K_{leaf}$ in Peking. Further research is needed to reveal the mechanism to archive high $g_s$ on the basis of water physiology in Peking. The knowledge combining the genetic and physiological basis underlying high photosynthetic capacity of Peking can be useful to improve the biomass productivity of soybean.
Specular reflections provide the visual feedback that describes the material type of an object, its local shape, and lighting environment. In photorealistic rendering, there have been a number of research available to render specular reflections effectively based on a local reflection model. In traditional cel animations and cartoons, specular reflections plays important role in representing artistic intentions for an object and its related environment reflections, so the shapes of highlights are quite stylistic. In this paper, we present a method to render and control stylized specular reflections using projective textures based on principal curvature analysis. Specifying a texture as a pattern of a highlight and projecting the texture on the specular region of a given 3D model, we can obtain a stylized representation of specular reflections. For a given polygonal model, a view point, and a light source, we first find the maximum specular intensity point, and then locate the texture projector along the line parallel to the normal vector and passing through the point. The orientation of the projector is determined by the principal directions at the point. Finally, the size of the projection frustum is determined by the principal curvatures corresponding to the principal directions. The proposed method can control the position, orientation, and size of the specular reflection efficiently by translating the projector along the principal directions, rotating the projector about the normal vector, and scaling the principal curvatures, respectively. The method is be applicable to real-time applications such as cartoon style 3D games. We implement the method by Microsoft DirectX 9.0c SDK and programmable vertex/pixel shaders on Nvidia GeForce FX 7800 graphics subsystems. According to our experimental results, we can render and control the stylized specular reflections for a 3D model of several ten thousands of triangles in real-time.

The object segmentation approach has the merit of reducing the processing cost required to detect moths of interest, because it applies a moth detection algorithm to the segmented objects after segmenting the objects individually in the moth image. In this paper, an object segmentation method for moth detection in pheromone trap images is proposed. Our method consists of preprocessing, thresholding, morphological filtering, and object labeling processes. Thresholding in the process is a critical step significantly influencing the performance of object segmentation. The proposed method can threshold very elaborately by reflecting the local properties of the moth images. We performed thresholding using global and local versions of Ostu's method and, used the proposed method for the moth images of Carposina sasakii acquired on a pheromone trap placed in an orchard. It was demonstrated that the proposed method could reflect the properties of light and background on the moth images. Also, we performed object segmentation and moth classification for Carposina sasakii images, where the latter process used an SVM classifier with training and classification steps. In the experiments, the proposed method performed the detection of Carposina sasakii for 10 moth images and achieved an average detection rate of 95% of them. Therefore, it was shown that the proposed technique is an effective monitoring method of Carposina sasakii in an orchard.
This paper aims to describe the rapid growth of the one-person households in terms of the socio-economic demographic perspectives during the period of 1995-2005 and to analyze the spatial distribution patterns based on different characteristics of one-person households. The increase in the divorce ratio in the middle-aged, the growth of unmarried people the young generation, and the increase of life expectancy in the old generation are explanatory factors for the rise and diversification of one-person households in Korea. The rapid increase of one-person households is accompanied by a diversification in their age, gender, marital status, education level. Uneven distribution of one-person households depends on their age, level of education and dwelling type. Highly educated young adults residing in their own apartment are generally concentrated in major cities, whereas senior citizen with their own single house who lives alone are mostly in rural area. One-person households of the highly educated young adults are significantly polarized in the light of their the living standards. In particular, metropolitan area or big cities are mixed with those who have their own apartment and are financially capacity and with those who rent in a detached single house. As such, one-person households have considerably heterogeneous characteristics. Therefore, each local government will face different economic and social problems based on which group of one-person households are increasing and where they are concentrated in. To this extent, the local government should have differentiated welfare policy according to its own respect.
In this thesis, a field experience activity support system is designed and implemented for improving social skills of children with developmental disabilities. The proposed system is designed to allow the students to experience various field activities around their local community. The proposed system has the following characteristics. First, it can improve effectiveness of field experience by providing very practical pre-study information to students. Second, the systems provides very practical and real-world problem-solving abilities rather than providing simple experience and superficial information. Third, the system allows students to change the contents according to their local community environments and purpose of use. Fourth, the system can be used as education for living at home as well as field experience study at schools. After applying the proposed system to students with developmental disabilities, the following positive results are obtained. First, the system have good effect on students with severe developmental disabilities when the system is used for prestudy. Specially those students are highly interested and motivated on study subjects. Second, at real field experience study place, students are well adapted and are very interested in their activities. Third, in the light of post-evaluation after field experience, it is reported that lots of study contents remain in their memory.

The occurrence, mineralogical characteristics, and origin of the dolomite ores were investigated from major dolomite mines in South Korea. Mineralogical and textural properties of the ores and associated minerals were analyzed using X-ray diffraction, thin section petrography, and scanning electron microscopy. Dolomite ores were light to dark gray in color and mainly composed of dolomite in varying particle size with minor amounts of calcite, quartz and micas. Calcite, quartz, illite, feldspar, kaolin minerals, and chlorite occurred in local veins, dikes and alteration zones. Sepiolite and wollastonite occurred in the altered part of some mine. Asbestos minerals such as chrysotile and tremolite, however, were not identified in the present study. Reddish brown to yellow clay materials were mainly composed of illite, occasionally associated with kaolin minerals and smectite. These clay minerals might be a product of the local hydrothermal alteration related to the dyke intrusion and subsequent weathering. As well indicated in the previous studies, mineral composition, texture, and occurrence of the dolostone beds suggest their formation through the diagenesis of carbonate sediments deposited in the shallow sea during the Precambrian to Paleozoic period.
Background: For various reasons such as agricultural and economical purposes, land-use changes are rapidly increasing not only in Korea but also in the world, leading to shifts in the characteristics of local carbon cycle. Therefore, in order to understand the large-scale ecosystem carbon cycle, it is necessary first to understand vegetation on this local scale. As a result, it is essential to comprehend change of the carbon balance attributed by the land-use changes. In this study, we attempt to understand accumulated soil carbon (ASC) and soil respiration (Rs) related to carbon cycle in two ecosystems, artificially turned forest into pastureland from forest and a native deciduous temperate forest, resulted from different land-use in the same area. Results: Rs were shown typical seasonal changes in the alpine pastureland (AP) and temperate deciduous forest (TDF). The annual average Rs was $160.5mg\;CO_2\;m^{-2}h^{-1}$ in the AP, but it was $405.1mg\;CO_2\;m^{-2}h^{-1}$ in the TDF, indicating that the Rs in the AP was lower about 54% than that in the TDF. Also, ASC in the AP was $124.49Mg\;C\;ha^{-1}$ from litter layer to 30-cm soil depth. The ASC was about $88.9Mg\;C\;ha^{-1}$, and it was 71.5% of that of the AP. The temperature factors in the AP was high about $4^{\circ}C$ on average compared to the TDF. In AP, it was observed high amount of sunlight entering near the soil surface which is related to high soil temperature is due to low canopy structure. This tendency is due to the smaller emission of organic carbon that is accumulated in the soil, which means a higher ASC in the AP compared to the TDF. Conclusions: The artificial transformation of natural ecosystems into different ecosystems is proceeding widely in the world as well as Korea. The change in land-use type is caused to make the different characteristics of carbon cycle and storage in same region. For evaluating and predicting the carbon cycle in the vegetation modified by the human activity, it is necessary to understand the carbon cycle and storage characteristics of natural ecosystems and converted ecosystems. In this study, we studied the characteristics of ecosystem carbon cycle using different forms in the same region. The land-use changes from a TDF to AP leads to changes in dominant vegetation. Removal of canopy increased light and temperature conditions and slightly decreased SMC during the growing season. Also, land-use change led to an increase of ASC and decrease of Rs in AP. In terms of ecosystem carbon sequestration, AP showed a greater amount of carbon stored in the soil due to sustained supply of above-ground liters and lower degradation rate (soil respiration) than TDF in the high mountains. This shows that TDF and AP do not have much difference in terms of storage and circulation of carbon because the amount of carbon in the forest biomass is stored in the soil in the AP.
