This study investigates English medium instruction (EMI) in an institution of higher education in Seoul, Korea to see whether this course creates cultural correction (reproduction of inequitable relations of power in EMI settings) or cultural continuity (opportunities for transporting students into a third space and enabling them to explore cultural diversity and to create new knowledge for themselves). A single site where EMI is carried out, a class on fairy tales and child education taught by a native English speaking professor, was chosen because it was hypothesized that the professor would display some of her unconscious dominant cultural orientation. The results of the study show that there more cases of cultural correction than there were of cultural continuity. Cases of cultural correction included lack of knowledge about the local context, fixing Korean classroom discourse as if it were American classroom discourse, and reproducing orientalism in the local educational setting. Cases of cultural continuity included using comparison to consider the cultural reality of the milieu, creating new knowledge for the local milieu, and learning as a dynamic ongoing process. Implications of this research are discussed including the important realization that EMI should be managed by subject specialists who are trained in language education and have knowledge of the students' needs and discourse in the L1 and in the local context.

This study developed a structural model to examine the relationships among consumer traits, self-brand connections, and purchase intentions for local fashion brands under "Guochao" consumption in China. An online survey with a self-administered questionnaire was undertaken through Chinese SNS tools to collect the data. A total of 276 usable responses were obtained from Chinese consumers who are residents in China. More females(n=174, +63%) than males (n=102, 37%) participated, and they were aged from 18 to 45 years old. The measurement model was confirmed to be reliable and valid. In the estimated structural model, the consumer traits of ethnocentrism and cultural affinity positively affected the self-brand connection, leading to purchase intentions for the local fashion brands. Specifically, the ethnocentrism factor indirectly affected the purchase intentions by mediating the self-brand connection, while the cultural affinity factor had significant direct effects on purchase intentions. Thus, a partial mediating effect of self-brand connection was found in the relationship between the consumer traits(ethnocentrism and cultural affinity) and purchase intentions of local fashion brands in the cultural "Guochao" consumption context. This study provides insights into extending the cultural theory of ethnocentrism relevant to self-brand connections and discusses the managerial implications for developing strategic global branding in the Chinese fashion markets.

소셜미디어상의 이모티콘처럼 사회·문화적 맥락에 기초한 시각적 커뮤니케이션이 점점 증가하고 있다. 따라서 시각문화 시대의 커뮤니케이션 방식을 올바르게 이해하기 위한 수단으로서 환유의 시각적 표현에 관한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 문화 맥락 안에서 환유가 어떤 방식으로 시각화되는지를 탐색하는 것이다. 구체적으로는 환유 발현의 대표적인 기저 현상인 <현저성(Salience)>과 이를 통해 재현되는 다양한 <이모티콘>의 표현 원리를 문화 맥락과 짝지어 규명하는 것이다. 사회과학 분야의 대표 담론인 맥락이론을 기반으로 고 맥락의 <아프리카TV> 이모티콘과 저 맥락의 <트위치> 이모티콘을 사례연구 대상으로 선정하여 비교하였다. 주요 발견점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 환유가 어떤 과정을 거쳐 시각적 결과물로 재현되는지에 관한 환유의 시각적 적용 모형을 제안하였다. 둘째, 이모티콘 표현방식에 적용된 환유 유형과 현저성 속성을 세부적으로 파악하였다. 셋째, 맥락이론에 기초하여 고 맥락의 시각적 환유와 저 맥락의 시각적 환유의 특성이 어떻게 상이한지를 제시하였다. 향후, 현지화 전략 구사가 필요한 디자인 개발과정에서 디자인 결과물의 현지 수용성, 현지 적합도 등을 판단하는 기준으로서 본 연구 결과를 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

The aim of the research is to focus on the cognitive principles and to achieve human-level intelligence in referring context based browser history and the Windows history. One of the major problems faced by today's computer users is insufficient and single exclusive context based reference of the browser history and the Windows history. Today we search for the browser history and Windows history in different places even though the context is the same. For e.g., When working on a research paper or preparing a business presentation, a user may require to refer many web sites on the internet and various documents on the local computer. The browser can provide only time based history. The windows document history is also time based and limited to list only few documents. Hence, we propose a tool "Cognitive Based Context Aware Reference History Management Tool" which helps to access the exclusive reference of context and time based history in one place. The tool also proposes to store image history with urls and classifies images of a specific topic accessed in different time, bookmarks management and cross browser history management. These features are very useful as we can access all related documents (doc, docx, ppt, pptx, pdf, txt, and html), web pages, images and bookmarks in one place. The tool uses the cognitive principles like classification and association to achieve the purpose.

유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 기술은 유비쿼터스 학습 즉 u-러닝의 출현을 이끌며 미래 학교 교육의 개선 방향으로 제시되고 있다. 유비쿼터스 학습 환경에서는 우선 사용자들이 언제 어디서나 학습을 위해 다양한 내장형 컴퓨터들을 활용할 수 있도록 이러한 기기들을 도처에 편재시키고 네트워크를 통한 상호작용을 지원하는 것이다. 다음 단계는 지능적인 학습 서비스를 지원하는 것으로, 상황 정보를 이해하고 이를 공유하도록 상황 지식과 상황 추론이 가능한 상황 인식 서비스를 도입하는 것이다. 그러나 아직까지 실제 학교를 대상으로 상황 인식 서비스를 지원하기 위한 온톨로지 상황 모델 설계 및 적용에 대한 연구결과는 미비한 상태이다, 이에 본 논문은 상황 인식 기반의 유비쿼터스 학습 서비스를 지원하기 위해, 기존 LAN 환경에서 이루어지는 학교 네트워크를 대상으로 USN을 활용한 유비쿼터스 학습 공간을 제안하고, OWL을 사용해 유비쿼터스학교 환경에대한온톨로지기반의상황모델을설계한다. 또한제안한유비쿼터스학습공간과온톨로지상황모델이 유비쿼터스 학습 환경에 적합함을 확인하기 위해 유비쿼터스 환경에서의 상황 인식 학습 서비스들을 구현한다.

Data envelopment analysis(DEA) has proved to be powerful for benchmarking and has been widely used in a variety of settings since the advent of it. DEA can be used in identifying the best performing units to be benchmarked against as well as in providing actionable measure for improvement of a organization's performance. However, the selection of performance benchmarks is a matter of both technical production possibilities and organizational policy considerations, managerial preferences and external restrictions. In that regards, DEA has a limited value in benchmarking because it focuses on only technical production Possibilities. This research proposes a new perspective in using DEA and a frame-work for benchmarking to select benchmarks that are both feasible and desirable in terms of organizational context. To do this, the concept of local and global efficiency is newly proposed. To show how useful the suggested concept and framework are, a case study is addressed.

최근들어 영상보안 시스템에 관한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 영상으로부터 객체를 검출하고, 객체가 사람인지를 판별하며, 인식하는 기술이 다방면으로 활용되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 객체를 검색하기 위한 적응적인 방법을 제안하며, 이를 위하여 지역적 컨텍스트 기반의 얼굴 특징 검출 방법을 제안한다. 가보 번치를 이용하여 검출하는 이와 함께 베이지안 검출 방법을 이용한 특징점 보정에 따른 특징 검색 방법을 설명한다. 전체적인 시스템은 영상에서 오브젝트 영역을 검색하고, 지역적 컨텍스트 기반의 얼굴 검출, 특징 추출 방법을 적용하여 시스템의 성능을 높인다.

An efficient context-free multiple-object segmentation using attention operator based on modified generalized symmetry transform is proposed and implemented by modifying a radial basis function network. By using the difference of intensity gradient, instead of te intensity gradient itself, in generalized symmetry tranform so as to make the attention operator to preserve the edges of the objects shape, an efficient context-free multiple-object segementation is proposed in which no a priori shape informtion on the objects is requried. The attention operator is implemented by using a modified radial basis function network which can reflect symmetry, and by using te edge pyramid of the input image, both of the local and the global symmetry of the objects are reflected simultaneously to make the multiple-object with different sizes be segmented with a singel fixed-size $n\timesm$ can be done with O(n) complexity. The simulaton results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently be used in context-free multiple-object segmentation even for the low contrast IR images as well as for the images from the camera.

The objectives of this study were to identify the roles of local government for developing community lifelong education, and to suggest desirable directions for upbringing human resource for the future in local community. The roles of local governments have become a more difficult challenge in the context of the ever increasing trends of rural population's moving toward urban areas mainly for the better education for their children. Even though there are regional differences in income level, educational environment, and budgetary constraints. local governments can play an important role in helping community people to build strong community in terms of economic development and enhancing the level of quality of life, and upbringing community leaders. Local governments' priority should be given to provide the better educational opportunities for students as well as community people through community lifelong educational programs.

In this paper, I will review two main theories on presupposition projection and point out their problems, and suggest the directions of a better analysis. Satisfaction theory is based on the single idea that presuppositions must be satisfied in the local context for the interpretation of a sentence. Problems occur because the theory makes only a minimal requirement on the input context for interpretation. They include the problems of weak presuppositions, unmotivated local accommodation, and projection of satisfied presuppositions. Binding theory assumes that presuppositions are anaphoric elements which can be accommodated. I will show that the syntactic notion of binding is not motivated, and claim that presupposition projection is a matter of information. Finally, I suggest the directions for a better analysis.
