  • The high-strength rockfall net developed in this study is to replace the fallout prevention net method using PVC coating net made of core wire thickness 3.2 mm and tensile strength 290-540 MPa class steel wire. General PVC coating net have low performance, and in the event of falling rocks or surface loss, they cannot withstand the load and are torn, which rather adds to the damage. Developed rockfall net was manufactured using steel wires with a core wire thickness of 2.8 to 3.2 mm and a tensile strength of 1,000 to 2,000 MPa. Test method was referred to the international standard Steel wire rope net panels and rolls-Definitions and specifications (ISO 17746:2016), and was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the punching test. Through indoor punching tests, the load-displacement curves of the general PVC coating network and the developed high-strength capture net (1,000 and 2,000 MPa) were compared, and the maximum Pull-out load was analyzed to be improved by 324.47% (2,000 MPa high-strength net).

  • In this paper, an IRD (internal read data) circuit preventing the reentry into the read mode while keeping the read-out DOUT datum at power-up even if noise such as glitches occurs at signal ports such as an input signal port RD (read) when a power IC is on, is proposed. Also, a pulsed WL (word line) driving method is used to prevent a DC current of several tens of micro amperes from flowing into the read transistor of a differential paired eFuse OTP cell. Thus, reliability is secured by preventing non-blown eFuse links from being blown by the EM (electro-migration). Furthermore, a compared output between a programmed datum and a read-out datum is outputted to the PFb (pass fail bar) pin while performing a sensing margin test with a variable pull-up load in consideration of resistance variation of a programmed eFuse in the program-verify-read mode. The layout size of the 8-bit eFuse OTP IP with a $0.18{\mu}m$ process is $189.625{\mu}m{\times}138.850{\mu}m(=0.0263mm^2)$.

  • Herein, an S-band internally-matched power amplifier that shows a power capability of 300 W in a Long Term Evolution(LTE) band 7 is designed and fabricated using a CGHV40320D GaN HEMT from Wolfspeed. Based on the nonlinear model, the optimum source and load impedance are extracted from the source-pull and load-pull simulations at the fundamental and harmonic frequencies, and the harmonic impedance tuning circuits are implemented inside a ceramic package. The internally matched power amplifier, which is fabricated using a thin-film substrate with a high relative permittivity of 40 and an RF35TC PCB substrate, is measured at the pulsed condition with a pulse period of 1 ms and a duty cycle of 10%. The measured results show a maximum output power of 257~323 W, a drain efficiency of 64~71%, and a power gain of 11.5~14.0 dB at 2.62~2.69 GHz. The LTE-based measurement shows a drain efficiency of 42~49% and an ACLR of less than -30 dBc(excluding 2.62 GHz) at an average power of 79 W.

  • This study evaluated the bonding property of fiber and flexural behavior of fiber reinforced concrete. Amorphous steel fiber, hooked steel fiber and polyamide fiber was used for evaluation of bonding property and flexural behavior. As a result, the hooked steel fiber was pulled out from matrix when peak stress. However amorphous steel fiber occurred shear failure because bonding strength between fiber and matrix was higher than tensile strength of fiber. Polyamide fibers occurred significantly displacement to peak stress because of elongation of fiber. After that peak stress, fiber was cut off. Amorphous steel fiber reinforced concrete had a greater maximum flexural load compared with hooked steel fiber reinforced concrete because bonding performance between fiber and matrix was high and mixed population of fiber was many. However flexural stress was rapidly reduced in load-deflection curve because of shear failure of fiber. Flexural stress of hooked steel fiber reinforced concrete was slowly reduced because fiber was pulled out from the matrix. In the case of polyamide fiber reinforced concrete, flexural stress was rapidly lowered because of elongation of fiber. However flexural stress was increased again because of bonding property between polyamide fiber and matrix. The pull-out properties of the fiber and matrix has effect on the deformation capacity and flexural strength of fiber reinforced concrete.

  • The use of materials for modern lightweight auto-bodies is becoming more complex than hitherto assemblies. The high strength materials nowadays frequently used for more specific fields such as the front and rear sub frames, seat belts and seats are mounted to the assembled body structure using bolt joints. It is desirable to use nuts attached to the assembled sheets by projection welding to decrease the number of loose parts which improves the quality. In this study, nut projection welding was carried out between a nut of both boron steel and carbon steel and ultra-high strength hot-stamped steel sheets. Then, the joints were characterized by optical and scanning electron microscope. The mechanical properties of the joints were evaluated by microhardness measurements and pullout tests. An indigenously designed sample fixture set-up was used for the pull-out tests to induce a tensile load in the weld. The fractography analysis revealed the dominant interfacial fracture between boron steel nut weld which is related to the shrinkage cavity and small size fusion zone. A non-interfacial fracture was observed in carbon steel nut weld, the lower hardness of HAZ caused the initiation of failure and allowed the pull-out failure which have higher in tensile strengths and superior weldability. Hence, the fracture load and failure mode characteristics can be considered as an indication of the weldability of materials in nut projection welding.

  • In this study, reliability tests of torsion control expansion anchors according to drill bit diameters were performed. The standard deviation and coefficient of variation of the anchor were reviewed through the tests for each variable, and the results were compared and evaluated with the standard test results. As a result of the reliability test of the M12 and M16 anchors with 1.04 times the drill bit diameter, they were within 20% of the ultimate tensile load permissible standard coefficient of variation. It was found that the pulling-out performance of the anchor installed in the large hole was sufficiently secured. However, it was found to be about 253% and 210% of the design strength, indicating that the pulling performance of the anchor installed in 1.04 times the drill bit diameter was sufficiently secured. As a result of the reliability test of the M12 and M16 anchors with 1.02 times the drill bit diameter, the value of the coefficient of variation of the ultimate tensile load limit was within 20%, which satisfies the test standard. It was shown to be about 136% and 168% of the design strength, indicating that the pulling-out performance of the anchor installed in 1.02 times the drill bit diameter is sufficiently secured.

  • The present work was an attempt to investigate the applicability of truncated mooring systems to KRISO's deep ocean engineering basin (DOEB) with ratios of 1:100, 1:60, and 1:50. The depth of the DOEB is 15 m. Therefore, the corresponding truncated depths for this study were equal to 1500 m, 900 m, and 750 m. The investigation focused on both the static and dynamic characteristics of the mooring system. It was shown, in a static pull-out test, that the restoring force of a FPSO vessel could be modified to a good level of agreement for all three truncation cases. However, when the radius of the mooring site was reduced according to the truncation factor, the surge motion response during a free-decay test showed a significant difference from the full-depth model. However, the reduction of this discrepancy was achieved by increasing the radius up to its maximum possible value while considering the size of the DOEB. Especially, in terms of the time period, the difference was reduced from 24.0 to 5.3 s for a truncation ratio of 1:100, 54.1 to 8.6 s for a truncation ratio of 1:60, and 31.7 to 3.9 s for a truncation ratio of 1:50. As a result, the study verified the applicability of the truncated mooring system to the DOEB, and therefore it could represent the full-depth mooring system relatively well in terms of the static and dynamic conditions.

  • Until recently, power amplifiers using LDMOS were Class-AB and Doherty type, and showed 55 % efficiency for narrowband of 60 MHz bandwidth. However, owing to the RRH application of base stations power amplifier module, a bandwidth expansion of at least 100 MHz and high efficiency power amplifiers of at least 60 % power efficiency are required. In this study, a Class-J power amplifier was designed by optimizing an output matching circuit so that the second harmonic load will contain a pure reactance element only and have broadband characteristics by using GaN HEMT. The measurements showed that a 45 W Class-J power amplifier with a power added efficiency of 60~75 % was achieved when continuous wave signals were input at 1.6~2.3 GHz, including W-CDMA application.

  • Distribution of both axial force and skin friction should be investigated in order to estimate pull-out capacity of ground anchors. Numerical method of computing load-transfer characteristics of the ground anchors, however, has not been specified and studies on this area are not sufficient. This study suggested the numerical method of simulating the characteristics of axial force and skin friction distribution against the tension type ground anchors. Also, debonding behaviors of skin friction and axial force were calculated by the suggested numerical method as a function of load levels. As a result of the review, it is confirmed that the distributions of axial force and skin friction by the suggested numerical method are relatively similar to those of field test results.

  • This paper describes the experimental study on the structural behavior of the joint plane between a RC(Reinforced Concrete) wall and a SC(Steel Plate Concrete) wall under out-of plane flexural loads and in-plane shear loads. The test specimens were produced with L and I shape to assess efficiently flexural and shear behavior of the structures. In order to consider dynamic loads such as earthquake, cyclic loading tests were carried out. As results of the out-of plane flexural tests, ductile failure mode of vertical bars was shown under a push load and the failure load was more than nominal strength of the specimen. And the latter test was performed to verify the variation which was composition presence of horizontal bars in the SC member. The test results showed that capacity of the specimens was more than their nominal strength regardless of composition presence of horizontal bars.
