Currently, composite lining mountain tunnels in China are generally classified based on the [BQ] method for the surrounding rock grade. Increasingly, tunnel field construction is replicated indoors for scale down model tests. However, the development of analogous materials for model tests of composite lining tunnels with different surrounding rock grades is still unclear. In this study, typical Class III and V surrounding rock analogous materials and corresponding composite lining support materials were developed. The whole processes of excavation-support dynamics of the mountain tunnels were simulated. Data on the variation of deformations, contact pressures and strains on the surrounding rock were obtained. Finally, a comparative analysis between model tests and numerical simulations was performed to verify the rationality of analogous material development. The following useful conclusions were obtained by analyzing the data from the tests. The main analogous materials of Class III surrounding rock are barite powder, high-strength gypsum and quartz sand with fly ash, quartz sand, anhydrous ethanol and rosin for Class V surrounding rock. Analogous materials for rockbolts, steel arches are replaced by aluminum bar and iron bar respectively with both shotcrete and secondary lining corresponding to gypsum and water. In addition, load release rate of Class V surrounding rock should be less than Class III surrounding rock. The fenestration level had large influence on the load sharing ratio of the secondary lining, with a difference of more than 30%, while the influence of the support time was smaller. The Sharing ratios of secondary lining in Class III surrounding rock do not exceed 12%, while those of Class V surrounding rock exceed 40%. The overall difference between the results of model tests and numerical simulations is small, which verifies the feasibility of similar material development in this study.
A DC-DC converter is being widely used for various household appliances and for industry applications. The DC-DC converter is powered from single battery, and the voltage is varied according to the purpose. In the vehicle, various accessories whose electric power is different are being used. Thus, plural number of DC-DC converter should be provided, so these situations bring complicated circuits, and accordingly, higher cost. Under such backgrounds, in this paper, we propose a novel buck-boost chopper circuit with simply configuration which can supply to two or more different output loads. The propose chewer circuit can control output voltages by controlling duty ratio by using typically two switching devices, which is composed by single boost-switch and single buck-switch. The output voltage can be controlled widely. A few modified circuits developed from the fundamental circuit are represented including the general multi-load circuit. And all this merits and appropriateness was proved by computer simulation and experience.
In this study, the design method of filament wound composite pressure tanks was established by using finite element analyses. Pressure tanks were designed with and without a load sharing metallic liner. A GUI(graphic user interface) program was developed to increase the efficiency of analyses. The replacement ratio was defined in order to replace a metal pressure tank with a composite one. Finally, the best design model that is satisfied with design requirements was suggested.
Recently, the occurrence of typhoons and heavy rainfall is increasing due to climate change. This causes increase in possibility of landslide damages in rural areas. However, in reality, the precise engineering stability assessment studies are still insufficient. Therefore, in order to reduce the landslide damages and effectively manage mountainous areas, the development of disaster prevention techniques is needed. In this study, to analyze the shock absorbing effect of the buffer-spring during application of dynamic impact load in the debris flow protection system, numerical analysis is carried out for each free field of the buffer-spring and the load sharing ratio of the buffer-spring is also examined. In addition, the field applicability is verified by comparison of the tensile strength of the conventional buffer-spring and the wedge type buffer-spring on various magnitudes of dynamic impact load. As a result of the study, it is found that the net-type debris protection system is effective to mitigate loss of properties and human lifes during landslide.

In this study, the structural analysis is performed on the method of shallow block and deep cement mixing pile, and then their characteristics and associated behaviors were analyzed. In the case of continuous beam analysis, the predicted settlement was very small, and shear force and bending stress are somewhat overestimated. The frame method is similar to numerical analysis in the internal force shallow block and long pile, but because the settlement of pile is underestimated, the additional calculation using the reaction of the long pile is necessary. For soil arching method and piled raft foundation method, the excessive axial force of long pile was predicted because the load sharing of pile is very large compared to the other methods. In the behavior of the shallow block and deep pile method, the settlement of shallow block and contact pressure are much in the center than the edge. In the estimating method considering the interaction between improved material and ground, the load sharing of the soil-cement pile ranges from 20% to 45%, and the stress ratio is 2.0~5.0 less than piled DCM. The maximum member forces at the boundary conditions of pile head are similar, but in fixed head the axial force and vertical displacement are different in accordance with pile arrangement.

Steel ribs such as H-beam or lattice girder are often reinforced to secure the stability of NATM tunnel when the ground is in the bad condition. When designing, however, steel ribs are not often taken into consideration on the numerical analysis when they are regarded as temporary tunnel supports until shotcrete shows its best performance or if they are, there are various modeling methods. This study shows behavior and loading capacity of steel ribs and shotcrete through the strength test on the bending, pressure and full-scaled. Also, we conducted and analyzed the experiment of composite member consisting of shotcrete and steel ribs under the same condition. Through the result, we can find the fact that shotcrete and steel ribs do not work as one unit because of slipping on the boundary. Also, when numerical analyzing, it was concluded that steel ribs cover all bending moment and shotcrete and steel ribs share with axial force according to the compressive strength.

In this study, the structural analysis was conducted to the comparison of reaction force and contact pressure on the design truck load (DB-24 and KL-510) of slab bridge supported by MSEW abutment. As a result of the structural analysis, the reaction force acting on the abutment at the continuous bridge was reduced rather than the simple span bridge. The reaction force due to the dead load was estimated to be about twice as large as that of the live load, and the influence of the live load on the total reaction force was relatively small. The contact pressure of the MSEW abutment was estimated to be the largest in the simple span bridge. The influence of contact pressure on the type of live load was relatively small. Therefore, it is considered to be more advantageous to apply the MSEW abutment to the continuous bridge than to the simple span bridge because the contact pressure acting on the abutment on the continuous bridge is estimated to be small. Since the reaction force and the load sharing ratio acting on the MSEW abutment depending on various conditions, it is necessary to examine the contact pressure in various types of bridges and specifications.

This paper presents development of 6kw ZVS(Zero Voltage Switching) boost converter by 4-parallel operation. To realize a high capacity converter with 6 kw, 4-parallel operation of 1.5kW unit module is proposed in this paper. To meet high ratio input to output voltage, isolated type booster converter is designed. To achieve ZVS operation of 4-switches of full bridge and protect a voltage overshoot caused by switch turn-off, simple active-clamp circuit is applied to the primary side. For parallel operation of 4-modules, master-slave control method is proposed to achieve input current sharing of 4-unit converter modules accurately. For performance tests, simulation is carried out. Also, load and experimental tests of the developed booster converter, 230Vdc/6kW, are carried out under various conditions. For field tests, the developed converter is applied for boosting a battery power to high DC_link voltage for a VSI inverter which starts a micro-turbine(MT) installed in vehicle and it's performance is verified through high speed motoring a MT up to tens of thousands of rpm.

To support Internet traffic efficiently over ATM networks, Guaranteed Frame Rate(GFR) has been proposed in the ATM Forum. GFR provides minimum rate guarantees to VCs and allows any excess bandwidth in the network to be shared among the contending VCs in a fair manner. In this paper, we proposed a new fuzzy logic based buffer management algorithm that provides MCR guarantee and fair sharing to GFR VCs. A key feature of proposed algorithm is its ability to accept or drop a new incoming packet dynamically based on buffer condition and load ratio of VCs. This is achieved by using fuzzy logic controller for the production of a drop factor. Simulation results show that proposed scheme significantly improves fairness and TCP throughput compared with previous schemes.
In the previous studies, settlement behaviors of granular compaction piles have generally been analyzed with an evaluation of the settlement reduction factor based on tile load-sharing ratio and the replacement ratio. In this approach, however, since the reinforced ground with granular compaction piles is simplified as the composite ground, only the difference of a relative vertical strength between piles and soils is taken into account without reflecting lateral behaviors of granular compaction piles. In the companion research paper, the method of estimating the settlement of granular compaction piles was proposed by synthetically considering a vertical strength of the ground, lateral behaviors of granular compaction piles, the strength of pile materials, a pile diameter, and an installation distance of the pile. In the presented study, to validate a propriety of the previously proposed method, large scale field load tests and three dimensional numerical analyses are performed. The results are analyzed in detail and compared with the predicted settlements by the proposed method. Finally, a simple method to estimate the settlement of granular compaction piles is suggested for an easy application of the practical design.
