  • Direct Load Control(DLC) system is a load management program for stablization of electric power supply-demand. It is a series of acts limiting the demand of selected demand side at peak load or other time periods. Recently, power supply-demand instability due to dramatic increase in power usage such as summertime air-conditioning load has brought forecasts of decrease in power supply capability. Therefore heightening the load factor through systematic load management, in other words, Direct Load Control became necessary. By examining the composition and operation of the DLC system, this paper provides conceptional understanding of the DLC system and help in system research.

초기우수 관거유입계수 산정 및 오염부하 기여도 평가 (Evaluation of First Flush Rainfall Inflow and Pollution Loads into Manhole against Combined and Sanitary Sewer Overflows)

  • Some data into combined and sanitary sewer system were collected in order to find out the characteristics of discharge from first flush rainfall inflow. The inflow ratios of combined and sanitary sewer system were 0.46 and 0.27 during rains from various survey data. The average inflow ratio 0.31 was appropriate for general application because many watersheds were not classified clearly as combined or sanitary sewage treatment areas. The percentage of first flush loads in the whole BOD load was about 10%. This result was thought some meaningful, comparing with similarity of first flush pollution load contribution previous surveyed by KECO (2004).

  • There are 3 systems in incentive-based normal load management in Korea; day or hour-ahead, week-ahead, months-ahead. These are originally similar in their operational implementation, but differ in their pre-notification period. Therefore the incentive of these systems should be different according to prenotification period. This is the key problem in implementing these load managements. Customers participating in these load managements feel their economic differences, depending on the risk by prenotification dates. The shorter prenotification period, the more risk take the customers. This paper proposes the method of incentive variation in prenotification difference, by using the theory of financial yield curve, which is used in analysing short and long duration bond interesting rates and is reflecting risk premium in their period.

  • 본 연구는 등산로의 물리적 특성과 등산시 운동강도와의 관계를 밝히고 이를 이용자관리에 적용할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하고자 수행되었다. 설악산국립공원과 계룡산국립공원을 대상으로 운동부하에 영향을 미치는 등산로의 물리적 특성을 조사한 결과, 경사도가 주요원인이며, 등산시 짐의 무게도 운동부하 증감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 급경사지에 위치한 등산로의 이용을 억제시킬 수 있는 방안으로 등산로의 연령대별 운동강도를 추정하여 제시하였다. 제시된 홍보자료는 체력이 낮거나 나이가 많은 탐방객의 이용을 억제시킬 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Agent-Based Load Balancing Method for Web GIS Services; Web-Based Forest Fire Management System

  • The prototype of forest fire management system on Web was studied. In the architecture of this system, one of the most important concerns is to handle load upcoming to Web Server so that it provides Web service without any delay or failure. In order to solve this problem, the agent is designed on dispatcher in a Web server cluster and implemented to distribute load dynamically by considering the information related to load coming to the Web Server such as the number of connection to the Map Server. The proposed forest fire management system has user-friendly interface with the GIS mapping functionality by selecting Map Objects Internet Map Server (MO IMS) as Map Server and is implemented using Java as programming language.

양식계 오염원 배출량 산정을 위한 원단위 설정 (Evaluation of Pollutant Load Unit Factor for Calculating Pollutants Emission in Aquacultural Farms)

  • This research was conducted to investigate pollutant load unit factor from aquacultural farms. Pollutant load unit factors were investigated on the 13 kinds of fish type, i.e., Trout, Leather Carp, Eel, Carp, Cartfish, Freshwater Eel, Crucian Carp, Colored Carp, Sturgeon, Marsh Snail, Sweetfish, Pond Snail, Eriocheir Sinensis. Water qualities in aquacultural farms were investigated wide range of values by fish type and pollutant items. High BOD and COD values were observed at the Leather Carp (Ponded water system), Cartfish (Ponded water system) and Freshwater Eel (Recirculating System). TOC and DOC values were relatively high at the Freshwater Eel (Recirculating System) and Eriocheir Sinensis (Extensive). Eel (Ponded water system) and Freshwater Eel (Recirculating System) produced high concentrated nutrient pollutants, i.e., T-N, T-P. Pollutant load unit factors are dependent on fish type, aquacultural type, water quality items, etc. If some fishes have similar basic unit values, those could be applied for TMDLs as a group of fish having same pollutant load unit. The water quality concentrations of post treatment facilities' (mainly reservoir tank) effluent were higher than those of fish raising bath because of extracting pollutant from sediment in the reservoir tank. Therefore, it needs to the management and regulations about post treatment facilities.

  • 최근 전력계통의 대형화와 중조류 설비의 증가 등으로 계통내부에서 소모되는 무효전력 급증에 따라 계통전압관리차원에서 부하역률 관리의 중요성이 새롭게 대두되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 최소자승법(Least Square Method)을 이용하여 변압기 무효전력 손실량을 산출하였으며, 유량평균법(Average Flow Method)을 사용하여 부하특성에 따른 지역별, 계절별, 시간대별 부하역률 대표모델을 수립하였다.

  • The temporal trends of the prioritized toxic water pollutants generated and discharged from the industrial facilities in the Geum-River basin, Korea were analyzed with the results of the nationwide Water Pollution Source Survey conducted in 2001 - 2012. The statistical results indicated rapid increase in the volume of raw toxic wastewaters whereas the amount of each toxic pollutant kept fluctuating for 12 years. Serious discrepancies in the survey data of the same type of industries demonstrated a low reliability of the survey result, which stemmed from several error factors. A unit-load for each type of industrial facility was devised to estimate the amount of prioritized toxic water pollutant based on the total volume of industrial wastewater generated from the same type of industrial facilities. The supplementary measures with an effective permit issuance policy and adding survey parameters of terminal wastewater treatment plants to use them as references to the Water Pollution Source Survey were suggested as means to minimize the errors associated with the false reports from the industries.

  • 최근 4차 혁명과 연계하여 많은 선박 분야의 연구들이 수행되고 있으며, 그 중 하나로 에너지 관리시스템 (EMS: Energy Management System)이 관심을 받고 있다. 에너지 관리시스템은 선박의 에너지를 관리하기 위한 시스템을 통칭하며, 다양한 시스템을 포함한다. 본 논문에서는 선박에서의 에너지 절감 분야를 분석하고, 기관실에서 에너지 절감이 가능한 개별 부하 제어 시스템을 포함한 선박 전력 에너지 관리 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 EMS는 PCS (Pump Control System), ERFCS (Engine Room Fan Control System), LCS (Load Control System), HVACS (Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning Control System)의 개별 부하 제어 시스템을 포함한다. 1차적으로, 제안하는 EMS는 기관실의 개별적인 부하 시스템에서 에너지를 절감한다. 2차적으로는 통합 모니터링 및 제어 시스템을 통해 발전 시스템과 전력 부하 시스템을 적절히 제어하여 에너지를 절감한다.

Load Balancing Strategy for P2P VoD Systems

  • In a P2P (Peer-to-Peer) VoD (video-on-Demand) streaming system, the nodes' load is an important factor which affects the system performance. In the system, some nodes may receive too many requests, which leads to overload. On the other hand, some other nodes may receive too few requests, which leads to low utilization. Therefore, designing a reasonable load balancing strategy is important. However, existing related studies cannot handle this problem effectively, because they don't have an efficient dynamic load information management mechanism, and they don't distinguish the difference of requests when transfer the nodes' load. In this paper, to manage the dynamic load information efficiently, we design a load management table for each node. Based on the load information, we propose a load balancing strategy which uses a request migration algorithm (LBRM). Through simulations, our scheme can handle the load imbalance problem effectively and improve the users' playback fluency.
