  • A double-end rod hydraulic cylinder is widely used with a steering valve for the steering control system in large tractors. For the development of automatic steering controller, the feasibility of using a proportional control valve replacing the conventional manual steering valve to control the position of hydraulic steering cylinder was investigated in terms of the max. overshoot, the steady-state error and the rise time. A simulation model for the electrohydraulic steering system with load using AMESim package was developed to be valid so that the proper control algorithm could be chosen through the computer simulation. It could be concluded that the P-control algorithm was sufficient to control the electrohydraulic steering system, where the control frequency should be no greater than 20 Hz at the P-gain of 5. In particular, the performance of the developed steering controller was satisfactory even at the conditions of varying flow rates and loads.

  • The flow signal or spool position signal is used to determine the dynamic characteristics of directional control valves. Alternatively, the signal of spool position or flow can be replaced with the velocity of a low friction, low inertia actuator. In this study, the frequency response of the servo valve equipped with a spool position transducer is measured with a metering cylinder. The input signal, spool displacement, load pressure, and velocity of the metering cylinder are measured, and the theoretical results from the transfer function analysis are verified. The superposition rule for magnitude ratio and phase angle was found to be always applicable among any signal type, and it was found that the load pressure signal is not appropriate for use as the signal for measuring the frequency response of a servo valve. It was confirmed that the frequency response of a servo valve using metering cylinder was similar to the results from a spool displacement signal. The metering cylinder used for measuring the frequency response of a servo valve should be designed to have sufficiently greater bandwidth frequency than the bandwidth frequency of the servo valve.

  • In this paper, we analyzed RF-DC conversion efficiency for the dual -polarization rectenna and the antenna position changing. Dual-Polarization rectenna consist of a two major parts, receiving antenna and rectifying circuits. We made dual-polarization 2.45GHz rectenna using the two dipole antennas and patch antenna. Rectifying circuit is consisted by a Schottky-Barrier diode with a large forward current and reverse breakdown voltage. The results of RF-DC conversion efficiency for the each of designed dual-polarization rectenna has 69.1% with 360$\Omega$(dipole type) and 75.4% with 340$\Omega$(patch type ) optimum load resistor. When the each of dual-polarization rectenna has optimal load resistor, it's conversion efficiency shows of $\pm$20% in dipole type and $\pm$5 in patch type at 0~180。position.

  • In this paper, a nonlinear anti-sway controller for container cranes with load hoisting is investigated. The considered container crane involves a planar motion in conjunction with a hoisting motion. The control inputs are two (trolley and hoisting forces), whereas the variables to be controlled are three (trolley position, hoisting rope length, and sway angle). A novel feedback linearization control law provides a simultaneous trolley-position regulation, sway suppression, and load hoisting control. The performance of the closed loop system is shown to be satisfactory in the presence of disturbances at the payload and rope length variations. The advantage of the proposed control law lies in the full incorporation of the nonlinear dynamics by partial feedback linearization. The uniform asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system is assured irrespective of variations of the rope length. Simulation and experimental results are compared and discussed.

  • Air balancer is a conveyance cargo-handling machine, used in assembly and process lines of car and machining industries. This can lift up an object, the weight of which is from 5 to 200 kg, and moves it to a position. As industrial technologies evolve, it is required to move an object and fit it into a specified position with greater accuracy, rather than performing simple tasks such as lifting objects up and down as conventional ones do. There is also a demand to handle an object with one hand, rather than with two hands,. Through designs of manifold unit for an air balancer function, pilot regulator unit to keep pressure constant, hand unit for an accurate load perception function, and air balancer circuit, this study enables everybody to work it with ease and convenience. Experiments and comparisons were conducted for the performance evaluation of the circuit.

  • This paper proposes performance improvement schemes for sensorless PMSM control drive using a four-switch three-phase inverter (so-called B4 inverter). In the proposed scheme, the back-EMF estimation-based sensorless control algorithm is used to control the brushless PMSM without position sensors. In order to have stable operation, this paper presents a gain adjustment scheme that compensates the reduction of stable sensorless operation range as long as the rotor speed increases. In B4 topology, the center point of dc-link capacitors is connected to 3-phase load, and it is prone to have the load current distortion. Hence, to mitigate this problem, a distortion compensation scheme by modifying voltage commands using measured dc-link potentials is proposed in this paper. The validity of the proposed method is evaluated by simulations and experiments.

  • Because few signals are generated using low resolution position sensor at low speed, rotor position estimation is difficult in drum washing machine application. Besides, inertia of water and drum affect the initial operation load up to two times of rated load. Therefore overcurrent can be occurred at initial operation. In this paper, IPMSM vector control for drum washing machine is proposed by applying I/F initial operating method and sensorless control. And we verify the performance through experiment.

  • A modified mixed mode bending test was performed to investigate the mixed mode delamination for carbon/epoxy composite material. Various mixed mode ratios could be produced by changing the applied load position on the loading lever and the bending load position on the specimen. The modified mixed mode bending test was analyzed to obtain strain energy release rates using beam theory, compliance method and finite element method, This results were in good agreement with the experimental result, which confirmed the validity of this test.

  • In order to improve the performance of a GPS/DR integration system, the error sources of DR sensors should be modeled accurately, This results in the increases in the dimension of the integration filter and, consequently, computational load becomes large. To reduce the computational load, suggested in this paper is a decoupled GPS/DR integration scheme that consists of two cascaded Kalman filters. The GPS velocity output is used in the first filter to calibrate the DR sensor and to fix the velocity as well. The velocity from the first filter is fed to the second filter where the position is corrected using the GPS position output. Experimental results show that the proposed integration scheme has positioning performance comparable to the conventional coupled one, while its computation is reduced to about 2/3.
