  • Metabolic acidosis is commonly encountered issues in the management of critically ill neonates and especially of preterm infants during early neonatal days. In extremely premature infants, low glomerular filtration rate and immaturity of renal tubules to produce new bicarbonate causes renal bicarbonate loss. Higher intake of amino acids, relatively greater contribution of protein to the energy metabolism and mineralization process in growing bones are also responsible for higher acid load in premature infant than in adult. Despite widespread use of sodium bicarbonate in the management of severe metabolic acidosis, use of sodium bicarbonate in premature infants should be restricted to a reasonable but unproven exception such as ongoing renal loss. Despite concern about the low pH value (<7.2) which can compromise cellular metabolic function, no treatment guideline has been established regarding the management of metabolic acidosis in premature infants. Appropriately powered randomized controlled trials of base therapy to treat metabolic acidosis in critically ill newborn infants are demanding.

  • Only do we have an earth! It is crucially important to improve our living environment and keep the sustained development of a city in the limited space. Some concrete examples will be analysized in the paper, elaborating upon how to make full use of roof space and various plants to create a better green-space. To create different activity space with unique characteristics for people, various plants, roof-space, water and buildings in the style of garden should be use when local conditions and design requirement should be considered.

  • There has been growing agreement that geotechnical reliability-based design (RBD) is necessary for establishing more advanced and integrated design system. In this study, resistance factors for LRFD pile design using CPT results were investigated for axially loaded driven piles. In order to address variability in design methodology, different CPT-based methods and load-settlement criteria, popular in practice, were selected and used for evaluation of resistance factors. A total of 32 data sets from 13 test sites were collected from the literature. In order to maintain the statistical consistency of the data sets, the characteristic pile load capacity was introduced in reliability analysis and evaluation of resistance factors. It was found that values of resistance factors considerably differ for different design methods, load-settlement criteria, and load capacity components. For the total resistance, resistance factors for LCPC method were higher than others, while those for Aoki-Velloso's and Philipponnat's methods were in similar ranges. In respect to load-settlement criteria, 0.1B and Chin's criteria produced higher resistance factors than DeBeer's and Davisson's criteria. Resistance factors for the base and shaft resistances were also presented and analyzed.

  • This study was aimed to establish different drainage types of soil media on the plant growing in rooftop. For this study, experiment plots were installed on the roof of Social Science building, Chongju University, from April, 1998 to September, 1999. (1) Sand and sandy loam as base and check soils, (2) vermiculite as a inorganic soil media (3) "humus sawdust" and "burned rice hull" as organic soil media were used by various mixing ratio Zoysia japonica, was selected for the experiment. The results of this study are as follows : L5B3S2 and L5H3S2 of bad drainage character with a plastic drainage plate combination caused good growth effect on Zoysia japonica examined in 3 types of drainage layer with 5 types of soil media. From this result, it could be suggested that combined design of plastic drainage plate with 2 soil types - L5B3S2 and L5H3S2 - be desirable composition for regarding weight load and plant growth.

  • Due to growing demand on wireless data traffic, a large number of different types of base stations (BSs) have been installed. However, space-time dependent wireless data traffic densities can result in a significant number of idle BSs, which implies the waste of power resources. To deal with this problem, we propose an active state control algorithm based on semi-Markov decision process (SMDP) for a heterogeneous network. A MDP in discrete time domain is formulated from continuous domain with some approximation. Suboptimal on-line learning algorithm with a random policy is proposed to solve the problem. We explicitly include coverage constraint so that active cells can provide the same signal to noise ratio (SNR) coverage with a targeted outage rate. Simulation results verify that the proposed algorithm properly controls the active state depending on traffic densities without increasing the number of handovers excessively while providing average user perceived rate (UPR) in a more power efficient way than a conventional algorithm.

  • As for the software development, it is complicated, and size of software is growing larger. And contraction of a software development period is required acutely because it is short a period of software life cycle. Also, it becomes harder development and a maintenance because it is short a life cycle of developed software. According to this an effort is increased in order to reduce a development cost and time as using a component to have been implemented previously in development of software. A current component technology is developing into a very fast speed and is bringing a large change into development of a Web base system in addition to existing software development method. In this paper, we were handling a related technology for Web system development of a CBD base systematically and derived an issue to apply it to development of a Web system and presented an efficient practical use method of a component technology. First of all we looked into a component technology and a CBD methodology systematically and described a component technology in Web. Also, we proposed a method to increase development and efficiency of practical use of a Web system based on a component. The this study result can decrease a development cost of a Web system and a load of maintenance management through the re-use of a code.

  • We can foresee the rapidly growing of users by development of VoIP service what can transmit a audio traffic with low cost among a lots application using internet. VoIP needs a standardized protocol that is able to do signaling for offering high quality of services such as mobility, universal number, multiparty conference, voice mail, automatic call distribution. At the present time, a base composition elements of SIP(Session Intiation Protocol) are developing for offering VoIP based SIP in the inside and outside of the country, because SIP of IETF which has a strength from 'fast connection', 'parsing' & 'easy to compile' points of view. This paper suggests a type of Hybrid SIP Server for providing some services as 'a reducing load of SIP server that process a request method from users', 'efficiency of managing networks', 'offering services to many users'.

  • At present, wind power is the fastest growing technology in the world. The domestic market depends heavily on imports for wind tower lift. so it manage through the overseas maker. The lift manufacture, establishment and maintenance utility is increasing, localization development of one wind tower lift is necessary with domestic fundamental base technique. In this paper, we will study the components necessary for the development of onshore offshore wind tower elevators, which are currently dependent on total imports, in line with the high growth of the wind market and the enlargement of the wind power generators. First of all, endless winders and cabins, which are the core components of the offshore wind tower lift, were examined for the components that affect the structural safety. Structural analysis was performed on Sheave, which is responsible for most of the lift lifting loads, and Block Stop, a safety device that prevents the cabin from falling in an emergency. The structural suitability was evaluated by comparing with the safety factor. In addition, the on-board control panel combines the control panel of the elevator and the drive motor driving the endless winder for efficient control of the offshore wind tower lift. The addition of features improves ride comfort at departure.

  • Recently, interest in monitoring health and sports is growing because of the emphasis on wellness, which is accelerating the development and commercialization of smart clothing for biosignal monitoring. In addition to exerciseeffect monitoring clothing that tracks heart rate and respiration, recently developed clothing makes it possible to monitor muscle balance using electromyogram (EMG). The electrode for EMG have to attached to an accurate location in order to obtain high-quality signals in surface EMG measurement. Therefore, this study develops monitoring clothing suitable for different types of human bodies and aims to extract suitable range of EMG according to movements in order to develop self-fitness monitoring clothing based on EMG measurement. This study identified and attached electrodes on six upper muscles and two lower muscles of ten males in their 20s. After selecting six main motions that create a load on muscles, the 8-ch wireless EMG system was used to measure amplitude value, noise, SNR and SNR (dB) in each part and statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 20.0. As a result, the suitable range for EMG measurement to apply to clothing was identified as four parts in musculus pectoralis major; three parts in muscle rectus abdominis, two parts each in shoulder muscles, backbone erector, biceps brachii, triceps brachii, and musculus biceps femoris; and four part in quadriceps muscle of thigh. This was depicted diagrammatically on clothing, and the EMG-monitoring sensing locations were presented for development of self-fitness monitoring.
