Optimal current angle control method of interior permanent magnet Synchronous Motors (매입형 영구자석 동기전동기의 최적 전류각 제어)

  • Recently, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) drives are widely used for industrial applications due to its high efficiency and high power factor control strategy. PMSM generally have two classifications such as the SPMSM(Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) and IPMSM(Inter Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors). IPMSA has economical merits over SPMSM in higher speed range, mechanical robustness, and higher power rate by the geometric difference. The maximum torque operation in IPMSM is realized by the current angle control which is to utilize additional reluctance torque due to a rotor saliency. In traction, spindle and compressor drives, constant power operation with higher speed range are desirable. This is simply achieved in the DC motor drives by the reduction of the field current as the speed is increased. However, in the PMSM, direct control of the magnet flux is not available. The airgap flux can be weakened by the appropriate current angle control to demagnetize. In this paper, the control method of optimal current vector in IPMSM is described in order to obtain the maximum torque or maximum output with the speed and load variations. The applied algorithm is realized by the proto system with torque and speed control Experimental results show this approach is satisfied for the high performance servo applications.   • To operate a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) at a maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) operation point, the exact values of machine parameters such as inductances and back-EMF constant, which are sensitive to motor phase currents and temperature respectively, should be blown. An adaptive estimation method for on-line estimation of the machine parameters is not suitable for practical applications since it has difficulties in estimating exact values and requires complex mathematical calculations. The purpose of this paper is to present a simple MTPA operation point tracking control strategy for vector controlled PMSM drives with slow dynamic loads. The proposed method searches MTPA operation points by modulating current phase angle and observing the variation in command power. The current angle modulation strategy is designed to sense the effect of load variations in the command power. Therefore, the proposed method can track the MTPA operation points of the PMSM regardless of load variations. Computer simulation and experimental study is also presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we deal with some numerical analyses of a re-entry vehicle in a 2-dimensional plane as an optimal control problem. To reduce the dynamic load, the heat load and the oscillation in the trajectory, we researched the trajectories in which the load factor or the rate of flight path angle was minimized during re-entry. In addition to that, taking advantage of the monotonous subarc method and the folded time-axis method, we tried to find the heat-less and load-less trajectory with combinations of some sectional functionals so that we can achieve more comfortability.

  • The gas-turbine generator of Seo-Incheon combined-cycle plant was tested for derivation of a model for dynamic analysis. Load rejection and AVR step test was performed to get the dynamic response of generator. The parameters of generator/control system model were determined by these measured data. No-load saturation test was performed for the saturation characteristics of the generator under steady state. V-curve test was also performed so as to find exact generator parameters. Q-axis parameters of generator was derived by measuring power angle. AVR and governor constants have been tuned by their oscillatory period and setting time characteristics. The derived parameters of generator control system is verified by one-machine infinite bus system simulation. (author). 7 refs., 20 figs., 5 tabs.

  • Samsung Electronics has developed high performance velocity and position controller for induction motors, and succeeded in mass production for the first time in Korea. Dynamic performance and final control accuracy of the controller are equivalent to those of AC servo motor controller. At present, we adopted the controller as spindle motor drive for Samsung CNC systems, and expect its wide use in industry as general purpose velocity and position controller for induction motor.

  • We are able to find many materials of pendulum dynamic/analysis using linearized model. Usually, analysis of pendulum is to calculate for velocity, period and angle by linearized model on Newton's law. In this paper, analyzed periodical movement of pendulum using nonlinear load model. That is, analyzed load value according to location of moving pendulum at real time. And for the shake of maneuver for pendulum's location, found load control value and compared result of linearized mode with nonlinear model. The result makes know that it is possibility of nonlinear load control model to apply to various model of movement object including flight object, pendulum and etc.

  • This paper contains the test method to obtain aerodynamic hinge moments acting on the control surface of air vehicle wing. During the flight, hinge moments make difference between actual control surface angle and control angle which is measured by sensor of actuator. The hinge moments can be obtained by using this difference. Static ground load test and calibration test were conducted to obtain torsional stiffness of control surface actuation system. This results are used to calculate hinge moments. In addition, the mechanical errors of actuation system such as slip angle of mounting point and backlash could be estimated. Using flight test results, this experimental measurement method of hinge moment acting on control surface is conducted. The results of this method are similar to those of numerical simulation method, and the validity of this method is proved.

  • In this paper, a new fuzzy-logic anti-swing control scheme is proposed for a three-dimensional overhead crane. The proposed control consists of a position servo control and a fuzzy-logic control. The position servo control is used to control the trolley position and rope length, and the fuzzy-logic control is used to suppress load swing. The proposed control guarantees not only prompt suppression of load swing but also accurate control of trolley position and rope length for the simultaneous travel, traverse, and hoisting motions of the crane. The effectiveness of the proposed control is shown by experiments with a prototype three-dimensional overhead crane.

Wide-range Speed Control Scheme of BLDC Motor Based on the Hall Sensor Signal

  • This paper presents a wide-range speed control scheme of brushless DC (BLDC) motors based on a hall sensor with separated low- and normal-speed controllers. However, the use of the hall sensor signal is insufficient to detect motor speed in the low-speed region because of low sensor resolution and time delay. In the proposed method, a micro-stepping current control method according to the torque angle variation is presented. In this mode, the motor current frequency and rotating angle are determined by the reference speed without the actual speed fed by the hall sensor. The detected torque angle is used to adjust the current value in a limited band to control the current value in accordance with the load. The torque angle is detected exactly at the changing point of the hall sensor signal. The rotor can follow the rotating flux with the variable torque angle. In a normal speed range, the conventional vector control scheme is used to control the motor current with a PI speed controller using the hall sensor. The torque characteristics are analyzed on the basis of the back EMF and current shape. To adopt the vector control scheme, the continuous rotor position is estimated by the measured speed and hall sensor position. At the mode changing point between low and normal speed range, the proper initial current command and reference rotor position are calculated. The calculated current command can reduce the torque ripple during transient mode. The proposed method is simple but effective in extending the speed control range of a conventional BLDC motor with hall sensor without the need for a high-resolution encoder. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by various experiments on a practical BLDC motor.

An anti-swing control for 2 axis overhead cranes (2축 천정 크레인의 무진동 제어)

  • This paper proposes an anti-swing control law for a 2 degrees of freedom overhead crane. The dynamic model of a 2 degrees of freedom crane is highly nonlinear and coupled. The model is linearized and decoupled for each degree of freedom of the crane for small motions of the load about the vertical. Then a decoupled anti-swing control law is designed for each degree of freedom of the crane based on the linearized model. The control law consists of a position control loop and an swing angle control loop. The position loop,. is designed based on the loop shaping method and the swing angle loop is designed via the root locus method. Finally, the proposed anti-swing control law is implemented and evaluated on a 2 degrees of freedom prototype crane.
