This paper aims to analyse the changes In the living arrangements of the elderly in Chejoo-do for the elderly housing supply by using census data. The conclusions are as follows; The rate of living alone and living with spouse only of the elderly have been increasing. The trend in county was higher than that in city. Living alone rate of the elderly of Chejoo-do was higher than that of Korean average. Even in the oldest old, living alone rate has been increasing in Chejoo-do. It is a unique phenomenon in Korea and similar with U.S. In Chejoo-do, it is strongly required to evolve elderly housing by universal design for living alone elderly in county as well as for living alone elderly in city.

최근의 경제성장과 아울러 우리의 주거 공간이 보다 더 확장되어 가는 추세에 있다. 따라서 PAC (PACKAGE AIR CONDITIONER) 가 종래에는 주로 업소 설치용으로 판매되었으나 최근에는 하절기 상품으로써 생활수준의 향상과 함께 업소용에서 가정용으로 옮겨가는 상태에 있다고 볼 수 있다. PAC는 최근의 기후 온난화 현상에도 영향을 받아 날로 그 수요가 늘어나고 있으며 필수품 화되어 가는 추세에 있다. 본 연구는 국내에 대표적인 가전 업체인 (주)금성사에서 추진 개발되었던 PAC의 제품개발과 DESIGN PROCESS에 대한 사례 연구로서 기업에서의 제품개발과 디자인이 어떠한 연구와 과정을 통해 이루어지는가에 대해 고찰에 보았으며 이러한 연구과정을 토대로 조형화(가사 화) 시키는데 역점을 두었다. 예컨대 우선 하절기 상품인 만큼 기후에 따른 한국인의 체질과 그 특수성을 알아보았으며 고객 환경으로써 PAC의 표적고객을 설정하여 그 수요를 예측해 보았다. 고객 환경으로써 PAC의 표적고객을 설정하여 그 수요를 예측해 보았다. 그리고 PAC와 직접적인 관계가 있는 주거환경으로써 APT 거주지의 거실에서의 행위를 분석하였으며 아울러 거실의 전반적인 INTERIOR IMAGE를 분석하여 PAC의 조형화 작업에 일조를 하였다. 실질적인 조형화 작업에 있어서는 DESIGN CONCEPT을 고객환경, 주거환경, 제품 환경으로 나누어 다음과 같이 추진하였다. 첫째. 성 SPACE화로써 설치공간의 극소화 및 시각적 개방 감을 유도하는 NEW SHAPE(ROUND SLIM)을 구현하였고 둘째. INTERIOR화로써 거실의 분위기와 조화되는 제품의 고급 감을 표출하였다. 셋째. HIGH-TOUCH화로 사용자의 감성을 자극하는 SHAPE 및 표면 처리에 역점을 두었고 넷째로, HI-QUALITY화로써 전자제품에서 보여지는 TECHNOLOGY IMAGE의 과감한 도입적용을 시도하였다.

Nowadays, the color of the interior effects people's thought, behavior and even the psychological state and this led to the presence of emotional design. The color is perceived as the main image of the apartment, and if applied from the early state of designing it can create a more rational and emotional interior. The purpose of this study is to understand the emotional factors by color taste characteristic and the application to living space. The living space of apartments will express people's emotion more aggressively and variously in the coming years.

As a rapid supply of a culture facility the change of living style bring on needs about storage space in the residence space. This study choose Hong Je Dong-Byuk San 4 type apartment house which was built in 1990 as research target and we selected 4type of a total 12house and we choose LDK as a research target that is high in a requirement and utilization other space is excluded in this study. We can expect that the apartment house will be differed with area of living space of apartment house in the requirement of storage space. Small apartment house is requried various storage planning because of confined living space But big apartment houses required storage planning of simple type because it have already storage space. So we have to do efficiency storage planning because of limited space in the apartment house. Base on this results we will show storage space according to the type of pyeong. So this study show proper storage type according to the scale of apartment house,.

The purpose of this study is to recognize the living space and life pattern transition which is expressed in the modernization course with the analysis of the Jeju rural houses. For this study, I choose 72 residences examples in 8 villages as the subjects which are changed by the spontaneous purpose of the inhabitants who live in Jeju area were chosen as the subjects. As for the research method, after visiting the subject residence directly, and the field study such as the actual estimation, observation and interview were performed.The conclusion of the study with these purpose are as follows. First, The opened spatial composition of the sitting-inclination is composed of the form which has the individual opened room and living room with the mechanism to grant the flexibility to the limited space and the structure for enduring the much-humid oceanic climate. Second, The life pattern shows the sitting life which usually uses the an-bang and living room with the seasonal change.

This study aims to analyze needs for living space of residents in a farming retirement community In this study a survey was performed about desire for living space and aesthetic aspects of housing environment. Results of the study are as follows; 1. Most residents desire permanently formed dwelling unit rather than assembled temporary structure so that they comfortable in noise-prevented space. 2 The retirement community residents do not desperately prefer individually separated room because open space provides better observsation function for emergencies. 3. They hope their dwelling units are grouped like regular neighborhood and the units have traditional designs such conventional kitchen and sink and wooden floor. Finally in this study it is proposed that Korean rural retirement community be established with maximum use conventional dwelling resources so that the residents benefit old fashioned living tradition even in the recently moved retirement society.

The changes of social climate in respecting differences and needs of each diverse groups and human equality have caused the disabled to persue quality of life, through enabling their lives more independent. The purpose of this research was to find out adequacy of the residence and living behavior of the hearing impaired. Though this reach it was expected to find out environment features which have become obstacle in maintain their life independent in normal way and the way of improving their environment. Small group workshop with three hearing impaired persons was implemented. Living behavior and physical environmental characteristic of dormitory and interaction between them were identified. The need of non auditorial communication for the hearing impaired found far beyond required guidelines of the disabled Act. Design professionals need more profound knowledge with and ethical and humanistic attitude to find and satisfy the need of disabled.

Even though housing industry has greatly developed through last 4 decades, its main progress only appeared in quantity not quality. To promote housing industry in more sound way and to enhance peoples' life quality through the better housing environment housing plan should be based on living items such as furniture, appliances and etc. Not enough research has been done to find out living items for better furniture & house plan development. This study attempted to find out furniture pattern which people own in their bedrooms and livingrooms. An indept questionnaire survey of 600 households were carried during the year 2000. A variety of furniture pattern were found which indicated not uniform living items within a very similar uniform multifamily apartment complex, indicating of their living. The result of this study will be helpful to develop new concept furniture and also to suggest new space dimension for Apartment plan.

Recently, Smart Home System(SHS) is applied in order to provide comfort, energy efficient and better security to the residence. Thus, by introducing the SHS in the house of elderly people, it is possible to provide a convenient and safe life for old people especially living alone. This paper presents the design and implementation of a low cost but yet flexible and secure smart-phone based SHS. The design is based on inter-working between Arduino board with Bluetooth and Arduino board with Ethernet shield, and the home monitor/appliances are connected to the input/output ports of this board via sensors/relays. In addition, when the old man is put on an emergency, the proposed system will automatically notify it the family. Therefore, we have implemented an inexpensive and efficient SHS for the elderly living alone by inter-working smart phones, internet server and Arduino micro-controller.
