Research on the Assembling Process of 7 tonf Class Small Liquid Rocket Engines (7 tonf 급 소형 액체로켓엔진 조립 체계 연구)

  • Liquid rocket engines (LREs) are very complex systems that include combustion chambers, turbopumps, gas generators, ducts and tubes, valves and etc. Most components of the LREs require higher than or equal to level 6 IT (ISO Tolerance). The components along with pipe line and/or tubing must dispose not to interfere each other. In addition, effectiveness of maintenance and service after assembling should be considered when the allocation of the components are determined. Especially at the stage of the development, tolerance accumulations or unpredictable errors may result in misalignment and/or mismatches at interfaces of the parts. Namely, it is the engine assembling process that many inherent risks are realized and crises or incidents occur. Therefore, a rapid reaction system should be prepared. In this research, 7 tonf class liquid rocket assembling process was studied and actual building steps were introduced.

Reflective LIquid Crystal Television Display (액체결정을 사용한 텔레비젼 디스푸레이)

  • 새로운 반사형 텔레비젼 디스푸레이를 소개한다. 이 방법에서는 선상의 액체결정의 다이나믹 스캣터링 모오드(Dynamic Scattering Mode, DSM)를 이용하며 주위가 밝은 곳에서도 볼 수 있다. 6∼12μm 두께의 액체결정은 뜯을 수 있는 음극선관 위에 와이어-모자의 훼이스 프레이트를 사용하는 전자속으로 실시간에 번지선택된다. 두가지 종류의 액체결정물질-Anasyliden Para-Amino Phenyl Acetate(APAPA)와 RCA 특유의 실온액체결정-을 시험했는데 동작온도(APAPA는 82°∼110℃이고 다른 것은 실온)를 제외하고는 비슷한 결과가 나왔다. 사방 3.1cm의 디스푸레이에서는 해상도가 적용 텔레비젼에 필요한 150line 보다 약간 떨여졌는데 그 원인은 액정결정 때문이 아니고 모자익의 구조에 의한 제한 때문이다. 더 나은 해상도를 얻으려면 디스푸레이를 좀더 크게하면 된다. 콘트라스트는 최적화(7.5:1)하지 않았다. 그러나 이 값을 정적인 디스푸레이에서 본 바와 같이 15∼20대 1로 개선하기 위해서는 몇가지의 기술을 사용할 수 있다. 이 디스푸레이 방법의 매력으로는 적당한 외부조명하에서는 약 ±45°의 넓은 관람각을 갖는데 있다고 하겠다. 액체결정내에서 DSM이 일어나도록 하는데 필요한 전류, 전압치들을 보면 평평한 텔레비젼 화면에 적합한 완전한 번지선택법에의 근사방법이 발견될 수 있으리라는 희망을 갖일 수 있다.

  • 본 연구에서는 액정디스플레이의 전기광학특성 분석에 사용되고 있는 두 가지 모델링 방법인 벡터접근법과 텐서접근법에서, 각각의 지배방정식을 시뮬레이션 함으로써 두 접근법의 결과를 비교 및 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 1차원적 시뮬레이션과 함께 측면전장효과 및 disclination line등의 영향을 모두 고려하기 위해 3차원적 액정분자배열 분포를 동일한 조건에 대하여 시뮬레이션 하였다. 두 접근방법에 대한 동적 특성은 단위화소 내의 국부 점에서 많은 차이를 보임을 확인하였으며, 이에 따라 네마틱액정의 방향자에 대한 네마틱 대칭성이 고려된 텐서접근법이 물리적으로 의미가 있으며 실제 현상도 명확하게 설명할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Selenium-containing proteins were separated from selenium-enriched yeast (SEY) using Trizol$^{(R)}$ reagent followed by anion exchange (AE) chromatography. This method is simpler and less time consuming than electrophoresis. Five selenium containing proteins were identified by on-line AE HPLC-ICP/MS (high performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma/mass spectrometry). Each protein was enzymatically hydrolyzed to seleno-amino acids and separated with RP (reverse phase) HPLC for the identification of selenoproteins.

  • This paper develops a multistage scheduling algorithm for the module operation of the LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) production systems and tests the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. The module operation is a multistage form composed of multiple sub operations of processes, and each stage is consists of multiple lines with the same kinds of machines. This paper presents a mathematical modeling reflecting the constraints of the LCD module operation and develops a multistage scheduling algorithm based on tabu search metaheuristic approach. For this purpose, an production order is assigned to a line of the sub operations and a sequence of the assigned order is rearranged to draw an efficient schedule. Simulation experiments test performance measures and show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

  • The popularity of flat-panel display(FPD), including plasma display panel(PDP) and liquid-crystal display(LCD), has given rise to the need to streamline their production. In these days, PDP is one of the most popular display devices because of its expansion of manufacturing process and simplicity. Bus electrodes, sustain electrodes, barrier ribs and RGB phosphors are patterned on PDP panel to display an image. Since a minute damage on the pattern can cause a serious defect to display, it is important to inspect the pattern precisely. In this paper, an automatic inspection system of repeated pattern in PDP panel has been introduced to find the defect, such as open, short, dirt, island, and so on. And the inspection system has been operated in the mass production line of PDP.

  • Applications of LCD panel are getting more increased for motion-image applications. However, when the motion-images are displayed on LCD panels, they may be blurred due to slow response time of liquid crystal (LC). One of the solutions of the problem is overdrive technique. The technique has a lot of memory usage. In this paper, we propose a reduction method of the frame memory that is required for LCD overdrive. Proposed overdrive architecture consists of line-based lifting integer (5, 3) DWT filter for image data reduction and BLI (Bi-Linearly Interpolation) LUT for pixel value accelerating.

Low-dislocation-density large-diameter GaAs single crystal grown by vertical Bridgman method

  • Low-dislocation-density large-diameter GaAs single crystals with low-residual-strain have been strongly required. We have developed dislocation-free 3-inch Si doped GaAs crystals for photonic devices, and low-dislocation-density low-residual-strain 4-inch to 6-inch semi-insulating GaAs crystals for electronic devices by Vertical Bridgman(VB) technique. We confirmed that VB substrates with low-residual-strain have higher resistance against slip-line generation during MBE process. VB-GaAs single crystals show uniform radial profile of resistivity reflecting to the flat solid-liquid interface during the crystal growth. Uniformity of micro-resistivity of VB-GaAs substrate is much better than of the LEC-GaAs substrate, which is due to the low-dislocation-density of VB-GaAs single crystals.

  • When the water jets heated up to the saturation temperature at a high line pressure are sprayed into a reduced (atmospheric) pressure through an air-assisted nozzle, the jets experience sudden exposure into a reduced pressure, get superheated and produce steam bubbles while atomization processes of jets are taking place. This process is called flash atomization. In this study the flash atomization of superheated water jets assisted by air has been studied. Sprays with flash atomization have been photographed at various water and air flow rates and water superheats. It has been found that the spray angle with flash atomization increases with water superheat and water flow rate but decreases with air flow rate. The degree of change of spray angle has been analyzed and correlated as a function of superheat, air and water flow rates.

  • Cryogenic systems are requirement for the operation of HTS power cables. In general, HTS power cables require temperature below 77K, a temperature that can be achieved from the liquid nitrogen at latm or sub-cooled LN2 above latm. HTS power cable needs sufficient refrigeration to overcome its low temperature heat loading. This loading typically cones in two forms : (1) heat leaks from the surroundings and (2) internal heat generation. This paper explains the cooling test system of 10m HTS power cable. This system is composed of storage dewar, auto fill system, core cryostat and cold-box. Storage dewar is a LN2 storage tank and auto fill system is a LN2 supply device to the sub-cooler, Core cryostat is a LN2 flow line. Cold box is a control unit of temperature and flow rate. It is composed of control valve, flow meter, sub-cooler and circulation pump, etc..
