Innovative technical process for Energy Storage System (ESS), Liquid Air Energy Storage system (LAES) is mature technologies based on the gas liquefaction process. In spite of many advantages such as high energy density, no geographical constraints, low investment costs and long useful life, the system has not yet widely commercialized due to low round trip efficiency. To improve RTE and acquire high yield of liquid air, various configurations of LAES process have been considered. In this research, dual refrigerants cycle (R-600a and methanol) for air liquefaction and thermal oil circulation for power generation via liquid air gasification have been applied to improve cycle performance significantly using Aspen HYSYS simulator.

Numerical study of air-blast type injector for low emission aircraft engines was conducted. Volume-of-fluids approach was used to track interface of fuel and air. Primary atomization of fuel stream was visualized, and thickness and mean velocity at the injector exit was calculated. Liquid fuel injected from fuel slots joined together as a thin film on preflimer surface, and interacted with swirling air. As instability on the fuel surface increased, separation of fuel as ligaments and droplets occured. The film thickness and velocity were used to as fuel injection boundary condition for reactive flow simulation. Primary reaction zone was formed in vicinity of the fuel nozzle, creating a stable flame inside the combustor.

The R-134a flow distribution is experimentally studied for a heat exchanger composed of round headers and 10 flat tubes. The effects of tube protrusion depth as well as mass flux, and quality are investigated, and the results are compared with the previous air-water results. The flow at the header inlet is stratified. For the downward flow configuration, the liquid distribution improves as the protrusion depth or the mass flux increases, or the quality decreases. For the upward configuration, the liquid distribution improves as the mass flux or quality decreases. The protrusion depth has minimal effect. For the downward configuration. the effect of quality on liquid distribution is significantly affected by the flow regime at the header inlet. For the stratified inlet flow, the liquid is forced to rear part of the header as the quality decreases. However, for the annular inlet flow, the liquid was forced to the frontal part of the header as the quality decreased. For the upward flow, the effect of the mass flux or quality on liquid distribution of the stratified inlet flow is opposite to that of the annular inlet flow. The high gas velocity of the annular flow may be responsible for the trend. Generally, the liquid distribution of the stratified inlet flow is better than that of the annular inlet flow. Possible explanation is provided from the flow visualization results.
The present study investigates experimentally the characteristics of liquid jet, which is, the spray flow in the normal direction of the air stream under the flow conditions of air velocity $110\sim125m/s$. The present study adopts with the flow visualization technique using a short duration light bulb and the image processing analyse with CCD camera. Two types of injector were used: one is a flat plate type, and the other is backward facing step type, which height are 5, 8, 10mm. Dispersion of liquid jet can be represented by gray level of CCD camera. In the upstream of liquid jet, the backward facing step shows better liquid jet penetration. However, in the downstream. mean droplet size for backward facing step injector is smaller than that for flat plate injector
The jet in crossflow is a spray method used in the various air-breathing engine. In order to understand the spray characteristics in various environments, many prior studies have been conducted. However, there is a lack of understanding of the low-temperature liquid spray characteristics below 273 K. With this in mind, we tried to enhance the knowledge of the low-temperature liquid spray characteristics by identifying the penetration height of low-temperature ethanol. The experiment was conducted under phase pressure, and 273 K of air and 293, 263, and 233 K of ethanol was used. Shadowgraphy was employed to measure the liquid penetration, and Otsu's method was used to analyze the penetration height. The heights tend to decrease as the temperature of the liquid jet decreases. A correlation for the penetration height in the experimental conditions was derived and presented.
A nozzle with vortex generator was used to develop the low pressure nozzle with high atomization performance and the nozzle atomized the liquid by centrifugal shear forces. In order to analyze the atomization characteristics, a shadowgraphy method was used and the measurement of droplet size was performed by using laser diffraction analyzer. The liquid injection pressure was fixed as 0.03 bar which is very low pressure and the gas injection pressures were changed from 0 bar to 2.0 bar. As a result, the breakup was achieved at the air injection pressure of 0.25 bar and over. The nozzle with the orifice diameter of 0.4 mm and the orifice gap of 0.25 mm presented small droplet diameters under 50 at the air injection pressure of 0.75 bar.

LNG is extremely cold, $-160^{\circ}C$ in its liquid state. When it vaporizes, returning to its natural state (re-vaporization), it cools its surroundings. This is cold energy. The manufacturing of liquid air is the first processes developed as the most effective utilization of LNG cold. In this paper, adopting the LNG cold process for manufacturing liquid air was developed and analysed. The result showed that as the higher air pressure and adapting nitrogen precooling, liquefaction rate and cumulative mass was increased.
The Twin-fluid Swirl Nozzles are used in many parts of the industry to produce homogeneous spray. This study is to investigate the effects of outer air swiller and inner water swiller on atomization of liquid.. The experiment was carried out with increasing air-flow rate at constant liquid-flow rate and with changing outer air swiller angle and inner water swiller angle. A Particle Dynamics Analyzer(PDA) was used to measure drop size, mean and ms values of axial velocity, number density and Sauter mean diameter(SMD). The axial mean velocity and SMD of droplets were measured along the center line and radial directions. It was found that the higher air flow-rate resulted in the smaller Sauter mean diameter of liquid spray and the higher axial mean velocity of droplets. This experimental results will be conveniently used for the preliminary design stage of twin-fluid nozzle development.
Several desiccant cooling systems have been developed in terms of cost and performance. In this study a fin-tube exchanger has been used for liquid desiccant dehumidification system. This dehumidifier has been designed to study the absorption characteristic of the aqueous triethylene glycol(TEG) solution which has the flow range from 20 to 50 LPM. The dehumidifier performance characteristic of working factor variables such as inlet solution flow rate, air flow rate, solution concentration, solution temperature, brine temperature, air temperature and inlet air relative humidity has been analyzed. The result of this experiment can provide useful data for hybrid air conditioning system.
Droplet sizes produced from a mist blower should be adequate to get highly biological effects with a reasonable level of work performance. However the droplet sizes from the conventional nozzles of the mist blower were around VMD 95 to 469$\mu$ which were relatively large as compared with the recommended droplet sizes in liquid flow rate of 17.2 m$/ell$s with air flow rate of 16660$m^3$/s on the maximum travel distance of about 4.0 m. The velocity of air stream at the point where two fluids, air and liquid, impact each other, was tried to maximize as much as possible in order to enhance the atomization performance of a newly designed twin fluid nozzles with the same or better level of performance of the conventional mist blower, The configuration of nozzle orifice should be designed to enlarge the contact area between air and liquid to enhance the atomization.
