Effect of improvement of the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma system on the inactivation performance of bacteria were investigated. The improvement of plasma reactor was performed by combination with the basic plasma reactor and UV process or combination with the basic plasma reactor and circulation system which was equipped with gas-liquid mixer. Experimental results showed that tailing effect was appeared after the exponential decrease in basic plasma reactor. There was no enhancement effect on the Ralstonia Solanacearum inactivation with combination of basic plasma process and UV process. The application of gas-liquid mixing device on the basic plasma reactor reduced inactivation time and led to complete sterilization. The effect existence of gas-liquid mixing device, voltage, air flow rate (1 ~ 5 L/min), water circulation rate (2.8 ~ 9.4 L/min) in gas-liquid mixing plasma, plasma voltage and UV power of gas-liquid mixing plasma+UV process were evaluated. The optimum air flow rate, water circulation rate, voltage of gas-liquid mixing system were 3 L/min, 3.5 L/min and 60 V, respectively. There was no enhancement effect on the Ralstonia Solanacearum inactivation with combination of gas-liquid mixing plasma and UV process.

Mass transfer coefficients were measured for water vapor absorption into a LiBr-Water solution of 60wt% flowing down an absorber of vertical tube type. The absorber is copper tube of 25mm inner diameter and 1000mm length. The film Reynolds number were varied in the range of 35~130. The solution is fed from the top of the pipe, and the conditions of solution are supercooled liquid and superheated liquid. As results, the flowrates of LiBr solution which takes peak value of average absorption mass flux exist. Mass transfer coefficients decrease with increasing the flowrate of LiBr solution, and the decrease rate in the case of supercooled liquid is large as compared with that in the case of superheated liquid. But the absorption rate of supercooled liquid is decidedly superior to that of superheated liquid.
In the present work, a series of experiments have been performed on electro-hydrodynamic atomization of non-conducting liquid using a charge injection type nozzle. Effects of liquid flow rate, input voltage, and distance between the needle and the ground electrode (nozzle-embedded metal plate) have been examined. For fixed electrode distances, total and spray currents increase with increase of liquid flow rate and input voltage. When the distance between the needle and the ground electrode becomes closer, total, leakage and spray current increase, but the onset voltage for dielectric breakdown decreases. When the electric field strength of the liquid jet exceeds that for the air breakdown, a portion of the electric charges in the liquid jet is dissipated into the ambient air, and the charge density shows a limiting value. Atomization quality can be improved by increasing the flow rate because the higher charge density is achieved with the larger liquid velocity in addition to the enhanced aerodynamic effect.

The characteristics of gas-liquid Taylor (Slug) flow in a square micro-channel of $600{\sim}600{{\mu}m}$ were investigated experimentally in this paper. The test fluids were nitrogen and water. The liquid and gas superficial velocities were 0.01~3 m/s and 0.1~3 m/s, respectively. Bubble and liquid slug length, bubble velocity, and frequency were measured by analyzing optical images using a high speed camera. Bubble length decreased with higher liquid flow rate, which increased dramatically with higher gas flow rate. However, slug length did not vary with changes in inlet liquid conditions. Additionally, bubble velocities and frequencies increased with higher liquid and gas flow rates. It was found that measured bubble lengths were in good agreement with the empirical models in the existing literature, but slug lengths were not.

Vertical falling liquid film is extensively used in heat and mass transfer processes of many applications, such as evaporative coolers, cooling towers, and absorption chillers. In such cases, it is required that the falling film spreads widely in the surface forming thin liquid film to enlarge contact surface. An addition of surface active agent to a falling liquid film or hydrophilic surface treatment affects the fluid physical properties of the film. Surfactant addition not only decreases contact angle between the liquid and solid surface but also changes the surface from hydrophobicity to hydrophilicity. In this study, the effects of contact angle on falling film characteristics over a vertical surface have been investigated experimentally. The contact angle is varied either by an addition of surfactant to the liquid or by hydrophilic surface treatment. It is found that the wetted area is increased and film thickness is decreased by the hydrophilic treatment as compared with those of other surfaces. With this hydrophilic treatment, the falling liquid film spreads out widely in the surface. As surfactant concentration is increased, wetted area is also increased and the film thickness is substantially decreased.
The improvement of cooling ability for the air conditioner is the most efficient method of application of its system. Therefore, this study has been investigated the improvement of cooling ability for the air conditioner using automotive by attached of a thermoelectric module. According to the result of test, capacity of the thermoelectric module make temperature range from $-75^{\circ}C$ to $+300^{\circ}C$ possible to cooling and exothermic. In addtion to, the reduction effect of energy revealed and the effect of liquid hammer remained with safety by attached the thermoelectric module. It was found that the air conditioner system by attached thermoelectric module have better cooling ability than the air conditioner system of existing vehicle.
Non-contact transportation of a large-sized glass plate using air cushion for the vertical sputtering system of liquid crystal display (LCD) panel was considered. The objective of the study was to design an air pad unit which was composed of multiple injection and exhaust holes and mass flow supplying pipe. The gas was injected through multiple small holes to maintain the force for levitating glass plate. After hitting the plate, the air was vented through exhaust holes. Complex flow field and resulting pressure distribution on the glass surface were numerically studied to design the air injection pad. The exhaust hole size was varied to obtain evenly distributed pressure distribution at fixed diameter of the injection hole. Considering the force for levitating glass plate, the diameter of the exhaust hole of 30 to 40 times of the gas injection hole was recommended.

The breakup processes and spray plume characteristics of liquid jets injected in subsonic air cross-flows were experimentally studied. The behaviors of column, penetration, breakup of plain liquid jet and droplet sizes, velocities have been studied in non-swirling cross-flow of air. Nozzle has a 1.0 mm diameter and Lid ratio=5. Experimental results indicate that the breakup point is delayed by increasing air momentum, the penetration decreases by increasing Weber number and the split angle is increased by increasing air velocity or decreasing injection velocity. SMD increases according as increasing height or decreases in accordance with increasing air velocity. This phenomenon is related to the momentum exchange between column waves and cross-flow stream. Droplet vector velocities were varied from 11.5 to 33 m/s. A higher-velocity region can be identified in down edge region at Z/d=40, 70 and 100. Lower-velocity region were observed on bottom position of the spray plume.

Many theoretical and experimental studies have been conducted to investigate elements of the hydrodynamic process, such as variations in liquid film thickness or air core diameter. From these studies, some theoretical relationships have been established through an approximated analytical solution of flow hydrodynamics in a swirl nozzle. However, experimental studies on elements such as internal flow have not produced conclusive results. In this study, the variations and stability of the internal flow were examined by visualizing the air core and measuring the liquid film thickness.
