The recent trend of the hacking deals with all the IT infrastructure related to the profit of the companies. Presently, they attack the service itself, the source of the profit, while they tried to access to the service infrastructure through the non-service port in the past. Although they affect the service directly, it is difficult to block them with the old security solution or the old system and they threaten more and more companies with the demand of money menacing the protection of customers and the sustainable management. This paper aims to design and implement multi-platform network packet scanner targeting the exception handling network intrusion detection system which determines normal, abnormal by traffic. Linux and unix have the various network intrusion detection and packet management tools like ngrep, snort, TCPdump, but most of them are based on CUI (Character based User Interface) giving users discomfort who are not used to it. The proposed system is implemented based on GUI(Graphical User Interface) to support the intuitive and easy-to-use interface to users, and using Qt(c++) language that supports multi-platform to run on any operating system.
The Denial of Service(DoS) attacks, which are done by consuming all of the computing or communication resources necessary for the services, are known very difficult to be protected from. TCP has drawbacks in its connection establishment for possible DoS attacks. TCP maintains the state of each partly established connection in the connection queue until it is established completely and accepted by the application. The attackers can make the queue full by sending connection requests repeatedly and not completing the connection establishment steps for those requests. In this paper, we have designed and implemented the extended TCP for preventing from SYN Flood DoS attacks. In the extended TCP, the state of each partly established connection is not maintained in the queue until the connection is established completely. For the extended TCP, we have modified the 3-way handshake procedure of TCP and implemented the extended TCP in the Linux operating system. The test result shows $0.05\%$ delay more than original TCP, but it shows that the extended TCP is strong for SYN Flood attacks.
The virtualization layer is executed in higher authority layer than kernel layer and suitable for monitoring operating systems. However, existing virtualization monitoring systems provide simple information about the usage rate of CPU or memory. In this paper, the monitoring system using full virtualization technique is proposed, which can monitor virtual machine's dynamic kernel object as memory, register, GDT, IDT and system call table. To verify the monitoring system, the proposed system was implemented based on KVM(Kernel-based Virtual Machine) with full virtualization that is directly applied to linux kernel without any modification. The proposed system consists of KvmAccess module to access KVM's internal object and API to provide other external modules with monitoring result. In experiments, the CPU utilization for monitoring operations in the proposed monitering system is 0.35% when the system is monitored with 1-second period. The proposed monitoring system has a little performance degradation.

It has become more difficult to correspond an cyber attack quickly as patterns of attack become various and complex. However, current security mechanisms just have passive defense functionalities. In this paper, we propose new network security architecture to respond various cyber attacks rapidly and to chase and isolate the attackers through cooperation between security zones. The proposed architecture makes it possible to deal effectively with cyber attacks such as IP spoofing or DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service), by using active packet technology including a mobile code on active network. Also, it is designed to have more active correspondent than that of existing mechanisms. We implemented these mechanisms in Linux routers and experimented on a testbed to verify realization possibility of attacker response framework using mobile code. The experimentation results are analyzed.
SELinux is used for system level security in various systems using Linux, and is now being used for device security such as IoT. However, since SELinux has inherent problems of execution time degradation, various studies have been conducted to solve this problem. In this paper, we show that performance can be improved through policy reconfiguration in the environment where the loadable module policy method, which is a general method using SELinux, is applied. By reconfiguring the access query table through the Priority-TE policy that gives priority to the type, it is possible to provide faster execution time for types requiring faster access query performance. This paper introduces the differences between SELinux policy configuration method in Monolithic environment and performance analysis. This can be used as a reference by security administrators or developers in applying SELinux.

Android file system is vulnerable to the external access of system resources via its arbitrary access mode and need user's control for SD and UMS medias due to its open architecture. In response to the device control, there is a drawback that its controlability is valid only in the case of embedded linux kernel with VDC function. Hence the solution is to directly implement VDC through system call, with another security module for device storage than system module being added to android system. In this paper the new method of android storage access control for personal information is proposed via VDC for mount system of storage. The access method for SD and UMS were implemented using VDC and mount mechanism. This access control system has been designed to control the granted users in kernel level if files are flowed out by copying. As a result, it was proved through testing that the access control system has exactly detected the write access operation.

In a Linux system, a user with malicious intent can acquire administrator privileges through attack types that execute shells, and can leak important user information and install backdoor program. In order to solve this problem, the existing method is to analyze the causes of the elevation of privilege, fix the problems, and then patch the system. Recently, a method of detecting an illegal elevated tasks in which information inconsistency occurs through user credentials in real time has been studied. However, since this credential method uses uid and gid, illegal elevated tasks having the root credentials may not be detected. In this paper, we propose a security module that stores shell commands and paths executed with regular privileges in a table and compares them with every file accesses (open, close, read, write) that are executed to solve the case which cannot detect illegal elevated tasks have same credential.

UART (Universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter) is a hardware device that converts data into serial format and transmits it, and is widely used for system diagnosis and debugging in most embedded systems. Hackers can access system memory or firmware by using the functions of UART, and can take over the system by acquiring administrator rights of the system. In this paper, we studied secure UART to protect against hacker attacks through UART. In the proposed scheme, only authorized users using the promised UART communication protocol are allowed to access UART and unauthorized access is not allowed. In addition, data is encrypted and transmitted to prevent protocol analysis through sniffing. The proposed UART technique was implemented in an embedded Linux system and performance evaluation was performed.

Encipherment in existing OS(Operating Systems) has typically used the techniques which encrypt and decrypt entirely a secret file at the application level with keys chosen by user In this mechanism it causes much overhead on the performance. However when a security-classified user-process writes a secret file, our proposed mechanism encrypts and stores automatically and efficiently the file by providing transparency to the user at the kernel level of Linux. Also when the user modifies the encrypted secret file, this mechanism decrypts partially the file and encrypts partially the file for restoring. When user reads only the part of the encrypted file, this mechanism decrypts automatically and partially the file. Therefore our proposed mechanism provides user much faster enciphering speed than that of the existing techniques at the application level.
