In this paper, we analyze the performance of an amplify-and-forward (AF) two-way relaying system, where two sources exchange information via the aid of an intermediate relay that is selected among multiple relays according to max-min criterion. We consider a practical scenario, where one source-relay link undergoes Rician fading, and the other source-relay link is subject to Rayleigh fading. To be specific, we derive a tight lower bound for the outage probability. From this lower bound, the asymptotic outage probability and average symbol error rate (SER) expressions are derived to gain insight into the system performance at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region. Furthermore, we investigate the optimal power allocation (PA) with fixed relay location (RL), optimal RL with fixed PA and joint optimization of PA and RL to minimize the outage probability and average SER. The analytical expressions are verified through Monte Carlo simulations, where the positive impact of Rician factor on the system performance is also illustrated. Simulation results also validate the effectiveness of the proposed PA and relay positioning schemes.
The antenna radiation pattern was simulated by arranging the mounted antennae of the transport drone in 5 locations where radio interference was expected to be low, and they could be mounted. Depending on the mounting location, the probability that the link margin was less than 0 dB was (5.41 - 26.92) %. When two antennae were mounted and one was selected, the probability was (0.11 - 3.3) %. Among the arrangements, placing one antenna in the upper part of the front and one in the lower part of the rear showed the lowest link fail probability. In this case, it was analyzed that if the attitude roll and pitch of the aircraft were limited, link fail would not occur at an operating distance of 12 km or less. An antenna selection formula for this case was derived, and a method of reducing frequent alternation of antennae was applied to maintain a stable link.

Link-16 is a up-to-date tactical data link used in the armed forces of U.S. and NATO. In order to guarantee the required capabilities of anti-jamming and low probability of detection, Link-16 uses the techniques of frequency hopping and spreading code etc. In this paper, under Nakagami fading channels, we ananlyze the symbol error rates (SERs) of JTIDS/Link-16-type waveform based on both the single- and double-pulse schemes by considering the partial band noise jamming and the pulse jamming models, respectively.

Error propagation of source-relay (S-R) link limits the performance of decode-and-forward (DF) relay and prohibits DF relay from achieving full diversity gain. In order to solve this problem, the proposed deployment strategy focuses on two objectives. One is to achieve full diversity gain, and the other is to minimize the used power of the DF relay system. In order to achieve full diversity, the error probability of S-R link should be lower than that of maximal ratio combining (MRC) at destination without error propagation since the error probability of the weaker link dominates the total error probability. The proposed strategy of relay positioning points out the range of the relay position for achieving full diversity, and the used power of the relay is minimized by this range. Analysis of error probability and simulation results prove that the two objectives are achieved by the proposed strategy of the relay position.
This paper focuses on message complexity performance analysis of mobile ad hoc network (MANET) address autoconfiguration protocols (AAPs) in reference to link errors generated by mobile wireless nodes. An enhancement was made using a proposed retransmission limit, S, to be computed for error recovery (based on the link error probability), to measure message complexity of AAPs in reference to the link error probability, $P_e$. The control procedures for the retransmission limit have been included for each of the AAPs. Retransmission limit control is critical for efficient energy consumption of MANET nodes operating on limited portable energy. O-notation has been applied to analyze the upper bound of the number of messages generated by a MANET group of nodes. The AAPs investigated in this paper are strong duplicate address detection (DAD), weak DAD with proactive routing protocol (WDP), weak DAD with on-demand routing protocol (WDO), and MANETConf. Each AAP reacts different to link errors, as each AAP has different operational procedures. The required number of broadcasting, unicasting, relaying, and received messages of the nodes participating in a single-node joining procedure is investigated to asymptotically calculate the message complexity of each AAP. Computer simulation was conducted and the results have been analyzed to verify the theoretical message complexity bounds derived. The message complexity of WDP was lowest, closely followed byWDO, based on the simulation results and analysis of the message complexity under nominal situations. The message complexity of MANETConf was higher than WDO, and strong DAD resulted to be most complex among the four AAPs.

In this paper, we derive an outage probability for the Erlang capacity and the link margin respectively, calculate them with the same parameters and outage probability, and then analyze a capacity and cell coverage in city, suburban, and open area. So, the Erlang capacity is more real than in a cell, and the cell coverage can be calculated with high reliability by the margin. When the $E_b/N_o$ decreases from 7 dB to 5 dB within the outage probability of 5 %, it is observed that the capacity is increased from 18 Erlang to 31 Erlang with the same margin of 2.8 dB, then the coverage is increased to 0.4 km, 1 km, and 2.5 km in city, suburban, and open area respectively. Also if the outage probability is decreased from 5 % to 2 % in case of $E_b/N_o$ of 5 dB, the result shows a very reliable link with additional increment of 0.88 dB in the margin and a high QoS (quality of service) within decrement of 0.15 km, 0.5 km, and 1.5 km for the same areas with decrement of 3 Erlang from 31 Erlang.
In this paper, we investigate survivability in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) mesh networks and propose a new algorithm called improved shared-path protection (ISPP) to completely tolerate the double-link failures. Compared with previous algorithms for protecting double-link failures, i.e., shared-path protection (SPP) and shared-link protection (SLP), the advantage of ISPP is to allow primary paths and backup paths to share the mixed wavelength-links based on the proposed new rules in which some primary wavelength-links can be changed to mixed wavelength-links, which can be shared by primary paths and backup paths. In addition, some mixed wavelength-links also can be shared by different backup paths for saving resources. Simulation results show that ISPP algorithm performs better in resource utilization ratio and blocking probability than conventional SPP and SLP algorithms.

In this research, we study the outage probability for distributed space-time coding-based cooperative (DSTC) systems with amplify-and-forward relaying over Rayleigh fading channels with a high temporal correlation where the direct link between the source and the destination is available. In particular, we derive the upper and lower bounds of the outage probability as well as their corresponding asymptotic expressions. In addition, using only the average channel powers for the source-to-relay and relay-to-destination links, we propose an efficient power allocation scheme between the source and the relay to minimize the asymptotic upper bound of the outage probability. Through a numerical investigation, we verify the analytical expressions as well as the effectiveness of the proposed efficient power allocation. The numerical results show that the lower and upper bounds tightly correspond to the exact outage probability, and the proposed efficient power allocation scheme provides an outage probability similar to that of the optimal power allocation scheme that minimizes the exact outage probability.

The link sublayer segmentizes a use data into several frames and transmits it through a wireless channel. In this case, the packet error probability and link throughput are affected by the frame size. And a portion of pure user data in a packet affects a link throughput. In this paper we analyze and simulate the retransmission scheme of the Wireless Local Loop(WLL) system and study the link throughput according to the payload size.
This study is on pedestrian protection device using pneumatic cylinder and simple link mechanism when vehicle collide with pedestrian. This study ensured the safety space between engine and hood after it applies to simple link mechanism and pneumatic cylinder. It can absorb the damage which measure the specific device if vehicle collide with pedestrian. Combination of simple link mechanism and pneumatic cylinder was more superior than the present pedestrian protection device. Simple link mechanism could confirm superior height and survival probability than when only cylinder operated. It also ensured enough space between engine and hood. And if a cylinder is not working because of old cylinder, poor repair or damage of accident vertical cylinder would be difficult to execute because there exists the irregular space between engine and hood. If simple link mechanism operates with only one cylinder it could ensure the regular space because simple link mechanism set up at the middle of hood. So this device could confirm high safety for pedestrian.
