The tracking antenna system must be always pointed to target moving vehicle. Especially, for an antenna mounted on a movable vehicle, it needs the stabilized antenna system. In this paper, two types of fuzzy controller were derived and applied to a data link antenna system and the altitude control of unmanned helicopter, respectively. A simplified Fuzzy-PID controller was designed for 2-axes antenna stabilization and tracking system and the performance was verified by simulations and experiments. Computer simulations were performed by Matlab and SIMULINK. A 2-Axes antenna (SeaTel 1898 model) was selected as test platform of this research. The antenna was modified by using two Blushless Direct Current motors and an embedded DSP controller. To verify the performance of designed antenna servo control system, the performance of the conventional PID controller and that of the Fuzzy-PID controller, designed by the same PID control gains, were compared.

Due to the large capacity and low cost, DC link electrolytic capacitors with of energy storage and voltage regulation are used for almost all types of power converter as the DC/AC inverter or DC/DC converter. Electrolytic capacitor, which is the most of the time affected by the aging effect, plays very important role for the power converter system quality and reliability. Therefore, this paper proposes a simple method to estimate the capacitance variation of an electrolytic capacitor in order to analyze the internal characteristic decrease and worn-out state of an electrolytic capacitor. Simulation results by using capacitor storage energy computation show the validity of the proposed capacitance estimation method.
Collaborative Robot (Cobot) that can collaborate with humans by fusion with many advanced technologies among industrial robots in the industrial field are attracting attention. In this study, the engineers of Small and Medium Enterprises can directly participate in the cobot design, and ultimately, the possibility of deriving the shape design of the differentiated cobot was studied. The method applied to derive the shape design of differentiated cobot is 'Morphological Analysis'. First, the design elements of the form of cobots were derived as 'Link' and 'Joint'. In addition, by analyzing the image form of the Link and Joint of the existing cobot, a new form element of the Link and Joint was proposed. In order to quantitatively identify the most discriminating cobot shape design, FGI (Focus Group Interview) was conducted to derive image types of 4 Link and 3 Joint. Then, the most important 'Shape Combination' was carried out in morphological analysis, and 12 new cobot shape designs were drawn. Through this, the applicability of the morphological analysis method in the derivation of differentiated cobot shape design was examined.

Wireless communication has become the promising technology in the recent times because of its applications in Internet of Things( IoT) devices. The IEEE 802.15.4e has become the key technology for IoT devices which utilizes the Time-Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) networks for the communication between the devices. In this paper, we develop a Two Level Scheduling Algorithm (TLSA) for scheduling multiple packets with different arrival rate at the source nodes in a TSCH networks based on the link activated by a centralized scheduler. TLSA is developed by considering three types of links in a network such as link i with packets arrival type 1, link j with packets arrival type 2, link k with packets arrival type 3. For the data packets arrival, two stages in a network is considered. At the first stage, the packets are considered to be of higher priority. At the second stage, the packets are considered to be of lower priority. We introduce level 1 schedule for the packets at stage 1 and level 2 schedule for the packets at stage 2 respectively. Finally, the TLSA is validated with the two different energy functions i.e., y = eax - 1 and y = 0.5x2 using MATLAB 2017a software for the computation of average and worst ratios of the two levels.

OPB(out-of-plane bending)-induced failure of mooring chain was firstly addressed by CALM (catenary anchor leg mooring)-type offloading buoy, located approximately one mile away from the bow of the Girassol FPSO which was installed offshore area of Angola in September 2001. This study deals with verifying the load transfer mechanism between the first free chain link and connected two chain links inside the chain hawse. OPB moment to angle variation relationships are proposed by extensive parametric study where the used design variables are static friction coefficients, proof test loads, nominal tension forces, chain link diameters, chain link grades and chain link types. The stress ranges due to OPB moments are obtained using nonlinear FEAs (finite element analyses). Final stress ranges are derived considering ones from IPT (in-plane tension) forces. Also a formula for OPB fatigue assessment is briefly introduced.

In this paper, we present hybrid ARQ techniques to improve the throughput performance in high speed packet transmission such as Internet or multimedia services. In order to evaluate the performance of the three different types of hybrid ARQ schemes, systemized link level simulations based on WWW traffic model are considered. In this paper, we also consider the simulated performance for an average link throughput and a normalized packet delay to compare the hybrid ARQ with link adaptation scheme in GPRS.

When the tracked vehicle is running on various types of terrain, the physical properties of the interacting ground can be different. In this paper, the interactions between track link and soft soil ground are investigated using static sinkage theory of soil ground. Grouser surfaces of a track link and triangular patches of ground are implemented for contact detection algorithm. Contact force at each segment area of a track link is computed respectively by using virtual work concept. Bekker's static soil sinkage model is applied for pressure-sinkage relationship and shear stress-shear displacement relationship proposed by Janosi and Hanamoto is used for tangential shear forces. The repetitive normal loads of a terrain are considered because a terrain element is subject to the repetitive loading of the roadwheels of a tracked vehicle. The methods how to apply Bekker's soil theory for multibody track system are proposed in this investigation and demonstrated numerically by high mobility tracked vehicle.
The use of steel bracing systems is a popular method for the strengthening of existing reinforced concrete (RC) frames and may lead to a substantial increase of both strength and stiffness. However, in most retrofitting cases, the main target is the increase of the energy dissipation capacity. This paper studies numerically the efficiency of a specific strengthening methodology which utilizes a steel link element having a cross-section of various shapes, connected to the RC frame through bracing elements. The energy is dissipated through the yielding of the steel link element. The case studied is a typical one bay, single-storey RC frame, constructed according to older code provisions, which is strengthened through two different types of link elements. The presented numerical models are based on tests which are simulated in order to gain a better insight of the behaviour of the strengthened structures, but also in order to study the effects of different configurations for the link element. The behaviour of the strengthened frames is studied with respect to the one of the original bare frame. Moreover, the numerically obtained results are compared to the experimentally obtained ones, in order to verify the effectiveness of the applied simulation methodology.
Similarity index measures the topological proximity of node pairs in a complex network. Numerous similarity indices have been defined and investigated, but the dependency of structure on the performance of similarity indices has not been sufficiently investigated. In this study, we investigated the relationship between the performance of similarity indices and structural properties of a network by employing a two-state random network. A node in a two-state network has binary types that are initially given, and a connection probability is determined from the state of the node pair. The performances of similarity indices are affected by the number of links and the ratio of intra-connections to inter-connections. Similarity indices have different characteristics depending on their type. Local indices perform well in small-size networks and do not depend on whether the structure is intra-dominant or inter-dominant. In contrast, global indices perform better in large-size networks, and some such indices do not perform well in an inter-dominant structure. We also found that link prediction performance and the performance of similarity are correlated in both model networks and empirical networks. This relationship implies that link prediction performance can be used as an approximation for the performance of the similarity index when information about node type is unavailable. This relationship may help to find the appropriate index for given networks.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of Pilotis space in the elementary school and its problems and to explore some improvement scheme. The subjects of this research include the elementary schools in Deajeon, Chungju city which have been established since 1990 when the pilotis first introduced. It would be the effect of the decrease of site area and the increase of total floor area of elementary school. In this situation, this study aimed to figure out the characteristics of pilotis according to their types- Entrance type, Courtyard link type, Hybrid type- throughout the questionnaire, interview, and document analysis. The investigative situation was performed by employing a sample survey of 9 schools whose types were different from each other. The sample survey compared and evaluated scale, location, functions of Pilotis, the physical elements of types, connections with surrounding circumstances and the use under each condition. This study found that the use of pilotis at the elementary schools was inclined to the user, the teachers usually use pilotis only for passage, while the students use it in many ways according to the individual property. Pilotis space represent the differences in satisfaction and utility according to its type. To improve the relationship of users at the pilotis space, Courtyard link type is to be suggested and also it needs enough area as possible. In this way the pilotis type of elementary school gives great effect to the quality and function for better usage of this space.
