  • The present has a double objective. The first one is to compare and estimate sixteen continuous-time methods through the identificatiun of a system consisted with an RLC electrical circuit. These sixteen methods are classified into three groups that are the linear filters, the modulating functions and the integral methods. The second objective is to estimate directly the physical parameters of the RLC circuit, without resorting to a discrete-time model. The system is consisted of a coil with inductance L and resistance H, and of a capacitor with capacitance C. Having written the physical equations which describe the behavior of the system, the transfer function in where the initial conditions appear is given. These initial conditions should be taken into account during the parameter estimation phase, because they are inevitable within the framework of real signals. A physical interpretation of the identified models is tempted by the direct estimation of the physical parameters L and C. In conclusion, a classification of the studied methods is proposed.

  • This paper presents the mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ output feedback controIler design method for linear systems with delayed state. The objective is to design the output feedback controller which minimizes the H$_2$-norm of one transfer function while ensuring the H$_{\infty}$-norm of the other is held below a chosen level. When objective is tormulated in terms of a common Lyapunov function, the sufficient conditions of existence of mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controller are given in terms of LMIs. terms of LMIs.

  • The objective of this work is to propose a procedure to simulate the flow in the LCM (Liquid Composites Molding) processes by finite difference discretization in a curvilinear coordinate system adapted to the shape of the saturated zone. The numerical results obtained are compared with experimental results obtained by an experimental device elaborated at our laboratory. It allows to realize linear and radial injections for different porosities and to observe the flow front kinetics. Numerical and experimental results are then compared with those of the literatures and excellent agreements are noticed. Finally, we suggest a concept of the capillary number to explain the variations of the permeability obtained for pressure values lower than 0.25 Bar.

  • Simulations of the thermally-induced residual stresses and birefringence in freely quenched plates of polycarbonate were performed by using the linear viscoelastic and photoviscoelastic constitutive equations for the mechanical and optical properties, respectively, and the first order rate equation for volume relaxation. The predictions for the birefringence showed good agreement with experimental measurements. However, for initial temperature close to the glass transition temperature, some differences existed around the surface layer. Based on the simulation, the influences of various cooling conditions on the residual stress and birefringence in plates were investigated. The residual stress and birefringence increased with increasing initial temperature, decreasing coolant temperature and increasing heat transfer coefficient of coolants.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the significant sound quality metric and compose the sound quality index of motor driven roller blind which is part of vehicle sunroof. Before subjective evaluation, sound characteristics of roller blind was analyzed and set the target operating sound for subjective evaluation. Thus, transfer sound of roller blind which has the characteristics of sound modulation was used for subjective evaluation. Linear regression was carried out by chosen Zwicker's metrics which are pointed by comments of jurors. Loudness and sharpness related metrics are prime metrics in sound quality index we composed. Effect of roller blind assay when it is attached to real vehicle was identified to evaluate the validity of index.

  • Optimal design of functionally graded plates is investigated considering stress and critical temperature. Material properties are assumed to be temperature dependent and varied continuously in the thickness direction. The effective material properties are obtained by applying linear rule of mixtures. The 3-D finite element model is adopted using an 18-node solid element to analyze more accurately the variation of material properties and temperature field in the thickness direction. For stress analysis, the tensile stress ratio and compressive stress ratio of the structure under mechanical load are investigated. In the thermo-mechanical buckling analysis, temperature at each node is obtained by solving the steady-state heat transfer problem and Newton-Raphson method is used for material nonlinear analysis. Finally, the optimal design of FGM plates is studied for stress reduction and improving thermo-mechanical buckling behavior, simultaneously.

  • In this study, drying kinetics of onion slices was examined in a laboratory scale vacuum dryer at an air temperature in a range of $50-70^{\circ}C$. Moisture transfer from onion slices was described by applying the Fick's diffusion model, and the effective diffusivity was calculated. Temperature dependency of the effective diffusivity during drying process obeyed the Arrhenius relationship. Effective diffusivity increased with increasing temperature and the activation energy for the onion slices was estimated to be 16.92 kJ/mol. The experimental drying data were used to fit 9 drying models, and drying rate constants and coefficients of models tested were determined by non-linear regression analysis. Estimations by the page and Two-term exponential models were in good agreement with the experimental data obtained.

  • To characterize the bioloical tissues, the new methods to measure the frequency dependent attenuation are presented in this paper. In general, ultrasonic phase information was assumed by linear function of the frequency. But the minimum phase function which characterizes the frequency dispersion of tissue was derived in (2). It is very significant to measure the attenuation by using the minimum phase function to characterize the frequence dispersion of tissue. Also, we propose the phase correcting technique to take advantage of the idea that the distortion of amplitude component when the wave propagates through media.

  • The steer-by-wire (SBW) system has nonlinear dynamics inherently. In classical approach, the controller has been designed on a linearized model which corresponds to only an operating point. In this paper, a set of linearized model that is generated at different operating ranges is replaced by a linear transfer function having parametric uncertainty. Then a design method for robust control using QFT is represented. The Kharitonov like analyses shows that the proposed controller satisfies the given robust performance specifications well.

  • This paper presents numerical analysis and design of high power contactless transformer with a large air-gap for moving on a guided linear track which is appropriate for high-speed train or MAGLEV. The system has the typical characteristics of large leakage inductance, small magnetizing inductance, and low coupling coefficients giving rise to lower power transfer efficiency, which have been compensated by the purposely-designed contactless transformer coupled with the resonant converter modulating with high switching frequency. In particular, the best model selected from the generated six design candidates has been applied for 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) investigating on iron loss to evaluate the overall system efficiency.
