스펀 광섬유를 이용한 편광 분석형 광섬유 전류센서 (Polarimetric Fiber-optic Current Transformer using a Spun Fiber)

  • 대전류 측정용 편광 분석형 광섬유 CT를 개발하였다. 센서코일은 스펀 광섬유의 끝단에 FRM 반사경을 부착하여 개방형으로 구성하였으며, 전류측정 실험을 통한 출력신호의 선형화 오차는 ${\pm}2[%]$ 이내였다. 비틀림 광섬유와 flint glass 광섬유 센서코일을 동일한 조건에서 실험하여 비교 검토한 결과, 스펀 광섬유가 각각 50배, 2배 큰 전류측정 민감도를 가지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Transparent xBa(La$_{1}$2/Nb$_{1}$2/)O$_{3}$-(1-x)Pb(Zr, Ti)O$_{3}$ (x=8.5, 9.0[mol.%], Zr/Ti=70/30~40/60) ceramics were fabricated by the two-stage sintering method, the electrooptic properties were investigated with Ba(La$_{1}$2/Nb$_{1}$2/)O$_{3}$ content and Zr/Ti composition ratio. Decreasing the Zr/Ti ratio, the electrooptic property was changed from a quadratic electrooptic effect to a linear electrooptic effcet. In the BLN-PZT 9.0/50/50 specimen having the tetragonal structure, the linear electrooptic coefficient had the highest value of 6.01*10$^{-10}$ [m/V] and in the BLN-PZT 9.0/55/45 specimen which located near the MPB region, the quadratic electrooptic coefficient had the highest value of 10.53*10$^{-16}$ [m$^{2}$/V$^{2}$].

센서 형태에 따른 광전류센서의 출력 특성 (Characteristic of Optical Current Sensors Output by Sensor design)

  • 본 연구에서는 광섬유형(Fiber Optic Current Sensor) 광전류센서 구성 시 발생하는 선형복굴절(Linear Birefringence)의 보상에 용이한 수직원형틀(Orthogonal Loop Type) 센서헤드(Sensor Heads)를 개선하여 1 Cross 수직원형틀(l Cross Orthogonal Loop Type)을 제시하였다. 그리고 기존의 페루프형 원형틀 (Closed Loop Type), 수직원형틀 그리고 1 Cross 수직원형틀의 편광상태를 비교하였다. 그 결과 편광상태 측정 시 페루프 원형틀을 수직원형틀로 교체할 경우 15.3%, 1 Cross 수직원형틀로 교체할 경우 33.8%의 선형복굴절 감소 효과가 나타났다. 이에 1 Cross 수직원형틀을 광전류센서에 적용할 경우 안정된 편광특성으로 고신뢰성 광전류센서 개발 가능성을 높게 할 것이다.

  • The optical CT was developed to use twisted fibers for 170 kV GIS. The fiber sensor optimized on the optical CT was wound 3 turns and twisted 4 times per a turn at the pipe with a diameter of 130 mm. The measurement error for the linearity which was satisfied the criterion of 'IEC Class-1.0' was less than ± 0.44 % at the transmission type and ± 0.82 % at the reflection type to 2,000 A. At a low current to 200 A, the measurement error was ± 0.69% at the transmission type and ± 1.38 % at the reflection type.

Polarization Ellipticity of Micro-photoluminescence in a Single GaAs/AlGaAs Quantum Ring

  • The polarized micro-photoluminescence spectrum was analyzed to investigate the anisotropic localized states in a single GaAs quantum ring. An energy difference of ~0.1 meV was observed from the perpendicularly polarized spectrum measured by a pair of linear analyzers. Spectral dependence of the polarized emission was also characterized in terms of rotation and ellipticity angles using four Stokes parameters. While the rotation angle indicates the symmetric axis of an anisotropic quantum ring with a small variation (± 2°), the ellipticity angle varies from 7.4° down to -2.5°. We conclude that optical anisotropy and birefringence are induced by the crescent-like lateral shape of localized states.

Characterization of the Stress-optic Properties of Ceramics by Terahertz Time-domain Spectroscopy

  • This paper introduces a rapid measurement technique for the stress-optic coefficient, using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. First we propose a design combining a four-point bending device with a scanning stage to streamline the loading process. Then we detail the measurement principle and outline the signal-processing algorithm. The experiments are carried out on Al2O3, a representative ceramic material. The experimental data reveal that the refractive index of Al2O3 exhibits a linear decrease with increasing stress. This work supplies an efficient method for stress measurement rooted in the stress-optic effect.

  • This paper will suggest that the 1 cross orthogonal loop type sensor improves on the orthogonal loop form sensor-head, which is available a calibration of the linear birefringence, when a fiber optic current sensor was composed. An output characteristics of the 1 cross orthogonal loop form, a general closed loop form, the orthogonal loop form are compared by the IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission) 60044-8 standard, and the state of polarization is compared with three forms. As a result, when the closed loop form was changed to the orthogonal loop form, retardation decreased 15.3[%]. When the closed loop form was changed to the 1 cross orthogonal loop type, the retardation decreased 33.8[%]. As a result of the Faraday Effect measurement, the 1 cross orthogonal loop form has the highest output characteristic and the lowest error ratio. It met the 0.5 class of the IEC 60044-8 standard. Thus, in application of the 1cross orthogonal loop form, the possibility to develop high reliability fiber optic current sensors that have a high output and stable error ratio rises is increased.

  • The properties of carbon fibers made from PAN are controlled by the heat treatment conditions. The length changes of high strength homo-PAN and co-PAN (acrylonitrile/acrylamide= 98/2wt% ) fibers under constant tensile stress during heat treatment in nitrogen gas were investigated by measuring the shrinkage behavior. In order to elucidate the relation between the length and fine structure change, the measurements of the crystalline orientation and birefringence index etc. were made for the fibers treated under linear heating up to 27$0^{\circ}C$. There are two regions in the length change with heat treatment temperature. The change in the initial period is mainaly due to the relaxation of amorphous molecular chain confined by the fiber-manufacture process. The length change in later period is considered to arise as cyclization reactions. The co-PAN fibers caused a larger shrinkage, while the onset of the shrinkage change in later period is, shifted to lower temperature. Significant morphological changes are shown to precede onset of the cyclization reactions and also during these reactions.

순방향 마이크로초 단위의 실시간 편광상태 검출 시스템 (A Feed-forward Microsecond Level Real-time SOP Finding System)

  • 본 논문에서는 실시간으로 빛의 편광상태(SOP)를 파악할 수 있는 장치를 소개한다. 소개하는 장치는 광파를 수평 선형편광과 수직 선형편광 성분으로 분리하고, 각각을 기준 광원의 수평 선형편광 및 수직 선형편광 성분들과 중첩시키고 이로부터 발생한 비트신호들을 시간 영역에서 측정하여 비교함으로써 광파의 SOP를 파악해 내는 순방향(feed-forward) 측정 시스템으로서 귀환(feedback) 방식을 이용하는 기존의 방식들에 비해 SOP 측정시간을 실시간으로 단축시키는 장점을 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 또한 SOP 측정 과정에서 수반될 수 있는 광소자의 복굴절 변화에 의한 측정 오차를 매우 간편하고 정확하게 제거할 수 있는 새로운 오차 보정 방식을 소개한다. 제안하는 시스템의 동작과 성능을 모의실험 및 광학 실험을 통해 입증하였다.
