On-Chip Process and Characterization of the Hermetic MEMS Packaging Using a Closed AuSn Solder-Loop (사각고리형상의 AuSn 합금박막을 이용한 MEMS 밀봉 패키징 및 특성 시험)

  • This paper presents a hermetic MEMS on-chip package bonded by a closed-loop AuSn solder-line. We design three different package specimens, including a substrate heated specimen without interconnection-line (SHX), a substrate heated specimen with interconnection-line (SHI) and a locally heated specimen with interconnection-line (LHI). Pressurized helium leak test has been carried out for hermetic seal evaluation in addition to the critical pressure test for bonding strength measurement. Substrate heating method (SHX, SHI) requires the bonding time of 40min. at 400min, while local heating method (LHI) requires 4 min. at the heating power of 6.76W. In the hermetic seal test. SHX, SHI and LHI show the leak rates of 5.4$\pm$6.7${\times}$$^{-10}$ mbar-l/s, 13.5$\pm$9.8${\times}$$^{-10}$ mbar-l/s and 18.5$\pm$9.9${\times}$$^{-10}$ mbar-l/s, respectively, for an identical package chamber volume of 6.89$\pm$0.2${\times}$$^{-10}$. In the critical pressure test, no fracture is found in the bonded specimens up to the applied pressure of 1$\pm$0.1MPa, resulting in the minimum bonding strength of 3.53$\pm$0.07MPa. We find that the present on-chip packaging using a closed AuSn solder-line shows strong potential for hermetic MEMS packaging with interconnection-line due to the hermetic seal performance and the shorter bonding time for mass production.

  • Transformers together with all equipment and accessories shall be designed and constructed to withstand the mechanical and thermal stresses produced by external short circuit which include three phase, single line-to-ground, double line-to-ground and line-to-line faults etc. Generally the Short Circuit Test of transformers is tested according to the ANSI/IEEE, IEC/JEC, KS etc, in domestic. In this study, it will be showed and compared the difference of symmetrical current for short circuit test of a Pad -mounted transformer according to with ANSI /IEEE and IEC.

  • Recently, the reliability evaluation and analysis are applied for many industrial products, and many products are required to guarantee in quality and in efficiency. The purpose of this paper is to present some of reliability evaluation methodologies that are applicable to machine tools. Especially ATC(Automatic Too Changer), which is core component of line center, was chosen as the target of the reliability evaluation and analysis. The scope of research is reliability prediction, reliability test and evaluates their results. The results of this research has shown the failure rate, MTBF(Mean Time Between Failure), reliability for those components and real tests reliability through constructed reliability test-bed. It is expected that proposed methodologies will increase reliability for high speed line center.

  • In this paper, we introduce the on-line test of the current collection characteristics for HSR 350x(Korea High Speed Train project) that have been performed in the Kyoung-bu high-speed line since 2002. Through the analysis of measured data during on-line test, the variation trends of contact force between pantograph and catenary according to the track conditions and driving patterns are reviewed. This study shows that the track conditions do not affect on the dynamic performance between pantograph and the driving patterns are important factors in determining the good interaction of them.

  • The prototype of Korean high speed train (HSR350), composed of two power cars, two motorized cars and three trailer cars, has been designed, fabricated and tested. In this paper, the body vibration has been reviewed from the viewpoint of the vehicle's safety and the vibration limits for components and sub-assemblies mounted on the car-body using by the experimental method. And, the dynamic characteristics, such as jerk, natural mode and kinematic mode, have been reviewed. The KHST has been run to 300 km/h in the KTX line and the results of on-line test show that it has no problems in the vehicle's safety and the vibration limits. And the characteristics of body vibrations has been predicted at 350 km/h by fitting curve about the measured acceleration signals.

  • Recently, the ride comfort problem becomes increasingly important because of today's needs for train speedup. The concept of ride comfort is equivocal. Generally, it is defined as the body vibration. The prototype of Korean high speed train (KHST), composed of two power cars, two motorized cars and three trailer cars, has been designed, fabricated and tested by the domestic researchers. In this paper, the ride comfort has been reviewed by the experimental method. The on-line test of KHST has been carried out up to 260km/h in the KTX line and proved that KHST has no problems from the viewpoint of the comfort ride at this speed. And the ride index lot KHST has been predicted at 300km/h and 350km/h by fitting curve.

On the material properties of shell plate formed by line heating

  • This paper is concerned with investigating the plastic material properties of steel plate formed by line heating method, and is aimed at implementing more rational design considering the accidental limit states such as collision or grounding. For the present study, line heating test for marine grade steel plate has been carried out with varying plate thickness and heating speed, and then microscopic examination and tensile test have been carried out. From the microscopic, it is found that the grain refined zones like ferrite and pearlite are formed all around the heat affected zone. From the tensile test results, it is seen that yield strength, tensile strength, fracture strain, hardening exponent and strength coefficient vary with plate thickness and heat input quantity. The formulae relating the material properties and heat input parameter should be, therefore, derived for the design purpose considering the accidental impact loading. This paper ends with describing the extension of the present study.

  • Electrical properties of the Thin Film Transistor(TFT) electrode metal films were investigated through the Test Elements Group(TEG) experiment. The main purpose of this investigation was to characterize the electrical resistance properties of patterned metal films with respect to the variations of film thickness and TEG metal line width. Aluminum(Al), Tantalum(Ta) and Chromium(Cr) that are currently used as TFT electrode films were selected as the probed metal films. To date, no work in the electrical characterizations of patterned electrodes of a-Si TFT was accomplished. Bulk resistance$(R_b)$, sheet resistance$(R_s)$, and resistivities($\rho$) of TEG patterned metal lines were obtained. Electrical continuity test of metal film lines was also performed in order to investigate the stability of metallization process. Almost uniform-linear variations of the electrical properties with respect to the metal line displacements was also observed.

  • A track circuit has used stably more than 100 years for detecting train position, but solution of track circuit sort circuit incapacity due to a rust is necessary for side line in station yard, coast line and level crossing for conventional line in rural line. Domestically, Axle Counter System(ACS) has partially used for Hot Box System for high speed line and turnout for CBTC system. In contrast, most of countries has used ACS not only trunk line but also rural line and its application has increased for metro, electric car and industrial railway. In this paper, we has verified the operating status of ACS which installed with existing track circuit through log analsis to implement pilot application in mail track and turnout in station yard. And interface test with interlocking system has conducted at Obong shunting yard, as well as Cheongju station and has analyzed test result. Based on a test result, we made fail safe design, manufacturing skill and established system requirement specification for the smooth operation and maintenance.

  • This paper describes the basic design concepts and architecture of the subscriber line test feature for the TDX-1A digital switching system. Also, implemented software structure for maintaining the multiprocessor control system employed in TDX-1A, which includes terminal server, MML, test, fault recognition and test result handling.
