A Cost-Effective Simulation Procedure for Achieving Target Throughput of New Production Lines (신규제조라인의 목표생산용량 달성을 위한 비용효과적 시뮬레이션 절차)

  • When a new facility such as automobile assembly line is designed, computer simulation is often used to estimate its actual throughput level. If it falls short of the target throughput level, then the design must be modified to increase the throughput capacity. For complex facilities having parallel processes and network of material flows, the modification procedure is not trivial. Even if the capacity of a particular bottleneck process is increased, the target throughput may not be achieved because the bottleneck may move to another process. Furthermore, each process has a different set of options with different cost to increase the capacity. In this study, we present a systematic procedure of determining the cost-effective set of options which achieves the target throughput.

Acoustic Effect of an Orifice on Suppression of Pressure Oscillation in a Fluid Feeding Line (유체 공급 배관내 압력진동 감쇠에 미치는 오리피스의 음향학적 효과)

  • Effects of an orifice on suppression of pressure oscillation in a fluid feeding line are investigated numerically through the installation of an orifice inside the feeding line. Based on linear acoustic theory, acoustic-damping effect of an orifice is emphasized in this study. When an orifice is installed at the node of pressure oscillation corresponding to the anti-node of velocity oscillation, damping capacity is maximized. On the other hand, the orifice installed at the anti-node of pressure oscillation has little damping capacity. As the blockage ratio and thickness of an orifice increase in the feeding line, damping factor increases. The feeding line with smaller diameter has more damping capacity, but damping factor increases more appreciably with blockage ratio in the feeding line with larger diameter.

Evaluation of Behaviors on Mooring Line Embedded in Sand Using Centrifuge Test (원심모형실험을 이용한 모래지반에 관입된 계류선 거동 평가)

  • When an anchor penetrates and is installed under a seabed, a portion of the mooring line connected to the anchor is also embedded under the seabed. This embedded mooring line affects the capacity of the anchor in two ways. First, the frictional resistance that occurs between the mooring line and the seabed reduces the pulling force acting on the anchor. Second, the embedded part of the mooring line forms a reverse catenary shape due to the bearing resistance of the soil, so that an inclined pulling force is applied to the anchor. To evaluate the mooring line's effect on the capacity of an anchor in sand, centrifuge model tests were performed using two relative sand densities of 76% and 51% while changing the anchor depths. The test results showed that the load is reduced much more in deep and dense sand, and the inclination angle of the load is lower in shallow and loose sand.

  • The purpose of this paper was to find out the stabilized and effective value of RC-parameter by using PSpice simulation, considering that gate signal voltage can be distorted by RC-delay of signal line. the results of this study were as follows: TFT-LCD with high quality resolution increased the number of gate signal line and this made TFT on-time shorter over-width of signal line to improve the performance of TFT made the electrostatic capacity increase and the time constant higher, making problems and errors. and owing to the decrease of the aperture ratio, an electro optic character of LCD, we must consider the capacity and the condition of production process in deciding the width and the thickness of the gate signal line.

  • This paper presents a technique for contingency ranting using line capacity calculation method and outage distribution factors(LODF) which are established by generation shift distribution factors from DC load flow solutions. By using the LODF, the line flow can be calculated a ccording to the modification of base load flow if the contingency occur. To obtain contingency ranting, maximum power tansferred to the load is obtained when load impedance $Z_r$ equal to line impedance $Z_s$. ( $Z_r$/ $Z_s$=1) The proposed algorithm has been validated in tests on a 6-bus test system.

  • This paper presents a distance protection algorithm a lied to the linked line for interconnecting wind farm with the utility. The capacity of wind farm is lower than utility system and its fault current level is very low. When a high resistance fault occurs in the linked line, it is difficult to detect accurate fault distance because of reactance effect. By using the characteristic of equivalent source impedance of induction generator which is compensated by capacitor bank and characteristic of the capacity of wind farm, this paper proposes improved distance protection algorithm applied to the linked line. A series of PSCAD/EMTDC simulation results have shown effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • The pH of microbial culture medium was calculated from equations of equilibrium, meterial balances for ionic components and electro-neutrality theory. Ammonium ion consumption and Acetic acid production are found out to be the major contributors for the alteration of the pH as well as the buffer capacity of the medium. By measuring the buffer capacity on-line, levels of acetic acid were estimated by a software sensor using pH signal in a fermentation process of E.coli growing in a minimal medium. The measured values of acetic acid showed good correlation to those of estimated by the software sensor.

  • In the electric railway systems, it is very important that we should design the system configuration, location and power capacity of substation. This paper presents the results of system configuration and system design of the DC traction power supply for the test line of Light Rail Vehicle. The voltage fluctuation of train and the power capacity of substation are calculated by computer simulation using the nodal equation, K.C.L/K.V.L, Ohm's law and superposition theory.

  • When load areas on a feeder are deenergized due to faults and scheduled outage, operators need to identify neighboring feeders, try to restore customers and minimize out-of-service areas. These cases include knowledge of system states and various constraints such as voltage drop. This paper concerns the load transfer in fault restoration and scheduled outage. Also, the operating constraints such as line current capacity, relay trip current, transformer capacity, voltage drop and line loss are considered. This expert system can propose the optimal load transfer method by analyzing the system state and considering the constraints.
