Model Tests of Soil Nailing System under Surcharges (상재하중 하의 Soil Nailing System의 모형실험)

  • This research is an experimental work of investigating the behavior of soil nailing system under surcharges whereas most of them were concentrated on evaluating its capacity under selfweight of excavated ground. Model tests in laboratory were performed to investigate the ultimate bearing capacity of soil nailing system under surcharges in forms of strip loading. Tests were carried out to find parameters controlling its capacity such as length of nail, vertical and horizontal spacings between nails, inclination of nail installation, and loading position of surcharges. Failure mechanism of forming failure line due to surcharge to soil nailing system was also observed by using dyed sand and monitoring its behavior. From results of these test, effects of parameters was analyzed qualitatively. Thus, this experimental results could provide meaningful data to analyze and design this system later.

  • This paper presents an algorithm that can compute equivalent impedance effctively in computing 3-phase short circuit current which would be generated in power systems. Also this paper proposes a method that can decide the capacity of circuit breaker by analysing the fault current distribution probabilistically when the fault point of specificed line varies. The efficiency of the algorithm was verified by applying the proposed method to IEEE-6bus system and IEEE-30bus system, and probabilistic fault analysing method is verified economic in facility investment by deciding the proper capacity of circuit breaker.

  • In the distribution systems, the maximum power transportation capacity is restricted within 40MW based on two lines, because of the thermal current limit of a distribution line. Recently it has been continuously required to expand the abilities of the power transportation in distribution systems, as the number of large scale industrial complexes and distributed generations are growing. In this paper, we suggested the five alternatives combining two methods, laying the two bundle lines and adding another voltage between the 22.9kV and 154kV in distribution systems. This paper implemented the economic evaluations of proposed alternatives from national and customer perspectives. And then we compare the results with those of 154kV transmission system.

  • Technical requirements for medium voltage class circuit breaker were harmonized by IEC and IEEE, and IEC newly adopted the requirements for class S2 circuit-breaker for overhead-line with the ratings of high-frequency TRV(Transient Recovery Voltage), which IEEE already adopted. Under these circumstances, KERI(Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute) studied testing technologies and facilities, which enable to perform interrupting capacity tests for class S2 circuit-breaker. As results, KERI could carry out interrupting capacity tests for medium voltage class circuit breaker rated up to 3-phase 52[kV] 40[kA], which satisfies the IEC standard.

  • We have proposed a new technology compensating reactance component of line and load. Because capacity of SC is static, it is not appropriate to varing reactance and causes SSR problems. TCSC is introduced for the flecxible control of reactance of SC. If SC voltage is varied when the capacitor current is constant, it can be considered that capacity of SC was varied. SO capacity of SC can be controlled by controlling the voltage of SC. Control reference voltage of SC can be obtained from the condition that sum of reactive powers in all parts is zero.

  • The study on power capacity increase of superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is one of the most important researches to apply a SFCL in the power system. To achieve this, we thought that the unbalanced quenching problem generated in series connection of superconducting units should be solved. In this paper, we investigated the quenching characteristics of superconducting units in the transformer-type SFCL with or without the neutral line between secondary windings and superconducting units. In case of transformer-type SFCL without neutral line, the connection structure of superconducting units is identical to that of the resistive-type SFCL connected in series. Therefore, the unbalanced quenching was occurred by difference of critical current between superconducting units. However, in case of transformer-type SFCL with neutral line, the superconducting units with different critical current were simultaneously quenched. It was because the currents induced by secondary winding were separately flowed through the superconducting units. By these results, we confirmed that the resistances and consumption powers of the superconducting units were equally generated.

Emission Estimation of Air Pollutants in Daegu (대구시 대기오염물질 배출량 산정에 관한 연구)

  • Urban air quality is usually worse than that of rural counterpart. The contrasting atmospheric properties seem to be direct result of different urban-rural air pollutant emission. Hence, the emission estimation of air pollutants plays an important role to the atmospheric environmental management. The main purpose of this study is to find out the temporal and spatial distribution of air pollutant emission in Daegu area. For the study, the Daegu statistical yearbook and data of waste facilities and the report on traffic survey issued by Daegu metropolitan city and the statistical yearbook on the road capacity issued by the ministry of construction and transportation are used. Each item for the emission estimation is $SO_2$, CO, HC, $NO_x$, PM-10 from point, line and area source. The result were as follow; (1) The air pollutants with the highest amount of emission from the emission source is CO followed by $NO_x$, $SO_2$, PM-10, HC in descending order of magnitude. (2) The annually totaled air pollutant emission consists of 81%(73,185 ton/year) of line, 11%(9,589% ton/year) of area and 8%(7,445 ton/year) of point source in Daegu. Air polluant emission was mainly due to line sources. (3) High-emission of the air pollutants of line source appeared ariond Bukgu, Dalseonggun, Dongu and Seogu ; the areas with highway networks.

Test Construction of the Paved Track at Subway Main Line (도시철도 본선 토공구간에서의 포장궤도 시험부설)

  • Recently, the development of the paved track is required as a low-maintenance of conventional line. The main reason is that the line capacity and bearing of track are increased progressively. The important factors of paved track are stability and applicability. To be based on this subject, cement mortar pouring type paved track is developed. The paved track is a kind of concrete track using the prepacked concrete technique. The most important thing to design the paved track is to optimize the track structure and materials considering various conditions. Until now, the paved track is verified a various material and structure test. In this paper, it is introduce to the test construction at the urban subway main line. The test construction is completed at Dec. 2007. A major object and substance is a guarantee of construction progress on main line, track performance, construction technique for curved section, transition zone and winter season, recycling the used ballast and application of specific sleeper for sharp curved section.

  • OPGW(Optical Ground Wire) whose demand is increasing worldwide have composite function as optical communication and grounding for preventing transmission line from lightning. While continuous efforts have been made to increase the transmission capacity and speed, the working method to replace the existing ground wire with OPGW under live-line condition is coming to force newly as installation aspects. Particularly, this requirement became more serious in developing country that the electric power supply is not sufficient and power outage is impossible for supply and dead of electric power LS cable Ltd. has developed the new installation method in full live-line condition to solve the confronted problem and to meet the market demand. In this paper, Electric Problems in live-line installation is considered to predict dry-band arcing. This can be used by Makers to predict dry-band arcing in insulating ropes installed on earth wire of power transmission system.

  • This paper introduces an active power dependent standard characteristic curve, Q(P) to compensate for voltage variations due to the output of distributed generation. This paper presents an efficient control method of grid-connected inverters by comparing and analyzing voltage variation magnitude and line loss according to the compensation method. Voltage variations are caused not only by active power, but also by the change of reactive power flowing in the line. In particular, the system is in a relatively remote place in a coastal area compared with existing power plants, so it is relatively weak and may not be suitable for voltage control. So, since it is very important to keep the voltage below the normal voltage limit within the specified inverter capacity and to minimize line loss due to the reactive power. we describe the active power dependent standard characteristic curve, Q(P) method and verify the magnitude of voltage variation by simulation. Finally, the characteristics of each control method and line loss are compared and analyzed.
