  • The construction of an athlete's tight-fitting garments is very important to the wearer in terms of athletic performance. Therefore pattern development of tight-fitting garments must allow for the full range of human movement and postures. In this study the relationship between the construction of a skate pants pattern and clothing fitting was explored with the aim of improving the comfort of the clothing. The four male subjects were university students between the ages of 20 to 24. Subjective wear sensations of the experimental garments were rated using a seven-point Likert scale on four consecutive days. While wearing the garments, subjects were asked to take five different postures including waist flexion, sitting and others. A Likert-type scale was used for the evaluation, with 7 points indicating the best fit in tight-fitting pants. Results showed differences in the front-rise length and back-rise length between basic pants(A) and modified pants(B,C,D) were -5.16cm and +5.64cm. Comparing the basic pants pattern(A) with modified pants pattern(B), the latter was superior to basic pants(A) in terms of pressure sensation and closeness of fit, but there was no significant difference. Among the four tight-fitting skate pants, A and B pants were superior to the others in terms of fitting and stability of waist and hip sections. In the case of the skate pants, the number of cutting lines in the pattern had an influence on clothing comfort. A minimum cutting line for tight skate pants was better than a maximum cutting line in terms of clothing comfort.

  • This paper proposes a method for motion estimation of consecutive cameras using 3-D straight lines. The motion estimation algorithm uses two non-parallel 3-D line correspondences to quickly establish an initial guess for the relative pose of adjacent frames, which requires less correspondences than that of current approaches requiring three correspondences when using 3-D points or 3-D planes. The estimated motion is further refined by a nonlinear optimization technique with inlier correspondences for higher accuracy. Since there is no dominant line representation in 3-D space, we simulate two line representations, which can be thought as mainly adopted methods in the field, and verify one as the best choice from the simulation results. We also propose a simple but effective 3-D line fitting algorithm considering the fact that the variance arises in the projective directions thus can be reduced to 2-D fitting problem. We provide experimental results of the proposed motion estimation system comparing with state-of-the-art algorithms using an open benchmark dataset.

  • One of the important functions of an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is to classify vehicle types using a vision system. We propose a method using machine-learning algorithms for this classification problem with 3-D object model fitting. It is also necessary to detect road lanes from a fixed traffic surveillance camera in preparation for model fitting. We apply a background mask and line analysis algorithm based on statistical measures to Hough Transform (HT) in order to remove noise and false positive road lanes. The results show that this method is quite efficient in terms of quality.

  • In this paper, we propose a method that applies Vector Fitting (VF) technique to the equivalent circuit model for RF passive components. These days wireless communication system is getting smaller and smaller. So EMI/EMC is an issue in RF. We can solve PI/SI (Power Integrity/Signal Integrity) that one of EMI/EMC problem apply IFFT for 3D EM simulation multiple with input signal. That is time consuming task. Therefore equivalent circuit model using RF passive component is important. VF schemes are implemented to obtain the rational functions. S parameters of the equivalent circuit model is compared to those of EM simulation in case of the microstrip line structure.

  • Tree algorithms have been widely developed for regression problems. One of the good features of a regression tree is the flexibility of fitting because it can correctly capture the nonlinearity of data well. Especially, data with sudden structural breaks such as the price of oil and exchange rates could be fitted well with a simple mixture of a few piecewise linear regression models. Now that split points are determined by chi-squared statistics related with residuals from fitting piecewise linear models and the split variable is chosen by an objective criterion, we can get a quite reasonable fitting result which goes in line with the visual interpretation of data. The piecewise linear regression by a regression tree can be used as a good fitting method, and can be applied to a dataset with much fluctuation.

  • This paper presents a precise edge detection algorithm for the critical dimension (CD) measurement of a Thin-Film Transistor Liquid-Crystal Display (TFT-LCD) pattern. The sigmoid surface function is proposed to model the blurred step edge. This model can simultaneously find the position and geometry of the edge precisely. The nonlinear least squares fitting method (Levenberg-Marquardt method) is used to model the image intensity distribution into the proposed sigmoid blurred edge model. The suggested algorithm is verified by comparing the CD measurement repeatability from high-magnified blurry and noisy TFT-LCD images with those from the previous Laplacian of Gaussian (LoG) based sub-pixel edge detection algorithm and error function fitting method. The proposed fitting-based edge detection algorithm produces more precise results than the previous method. The suggested algorithm can be applied to in-line precision CD measurement for high-resolution display devices.

  • Many studies for measuring vibration using image signal are suggested. These methods can measure vibration of multi-points simultaneously. However, it has the disadvantage that is very sensitive to an environment. If the measured environment is not good, image signals can be measured including much background noise. So, it is difficult to obtain accurate vibration from the measured image signals. Another problem is that camera imaging has a resolution limit. Because the resolution of the camera image is relatively much lower than that of a data acquisition system, accurate measuring vibration cannot be performed. In this paper, we proposed the enhanced technique for measuring vibration using camera signal. The key word of this paper is a curve fitting. The curve fitting can exactly detect the measurement line of interested object. So, we can measure the vibration in noisy environment. Also, it can overcome the resolution limit.
