  • Resilient materials are generally used for the floating floors to reduce the floor impact sound. Dynamic stiffness of resilient material have a close relation with the floor impact sound reduction. In this study, to examine the relationship between dynamic stiffness and lightweight impact sound level, the dynamic stiffness and floor impact sound level of 51 resilient materials were measured. The impact sound level of each of these resilient materials, whose dynamic stiffness was measured, was measured before and after installation, and the level difference (${\Delta}L$) was analyzed. The result of test showed that the dynamic stiffness of resilient materials decreased, the lightweight impact sound level also decreased, and there was a correlation between the dynamic stiffness and the lightweight impact sound, especially in the low frequency domain.

  • This study uses recycled green building materials based on a Taiwan-made recycled mineral admixture (including fly ash, slag, glass sand and rubber powder) as replacements for fine aggregates in concrete and tests the properties of the resulting mixtures. Fine aggregate contents of 5% and 10% were replaced by waste LCD glass sand and waste tire rubber powder, respectively. According to ACI concrete-mixture design, the above materials were mixed into lightweight aggregate concrete at a constant water-to-binder ratio (W/B = 0.4). Hardening (mechanical), non-destructive and durability tests were then performed at curing ages of 7, 28, 56 and 91 days and the engineering properties were studied. The results of these experiments showed that, although they vary with the type of recycling green building material added, the slumps of these admixtures meet design requirements. Lightweight aggregate yields better hardened properties than normal-weight concrete, indicating that green building materials can be successfully applied in lightweight aggregate concrete, enabling an increase in the use of green building materials, the improved utilization of waste resources, and environmental protection. In addition to representing an important part of a "sustainable cycle of development", green building materials represent a beneficial reutilization of waste resources.

  • In the industry, the use of lightweight bearings is increasing to minimize motor power loss, and in particular, the application of next-generation systems such as robots and drones is increasing. Bearing manufacturers are producing lightweight bearings by changing the bearing material, but related researches is insufficient. In this paper, life test and structural analysis were performed for lightweight bearings, and shape parameters and scale parameters were derived based on the life test results. It was confirmed that the shape parameter was 2.52 and the scale parameter was 164 hours. As a result of calculating the dynamic load rating based on the B10 life, it was confirmed that the dynamic load rating of the lightweight bearing was 7% compared to the formula suggested by ISO 281. The reason is that the material of the retainer, which is a major failure part, is a polyamide 66 series that reacts sensitively to heat, so It is judged to show a lot of difference from the ISO 281 calculation formula.

  • Recycling industrial wastes such as fly ash from a coal burning heat power plant and shell from an oyster farming were investigated to prevent environment contamination as well as to enhance the value of recycling materials. In this study, the lightweight aggregates and the red bricks were fabricated from fly ashes with other inorganic materials and wastes. The starting materials of the lightweight aggregate were fly ash powder and water glass, and the compacts of these materials were heat treated at $1100^{\circ}C$. The fabricated lightweight aggregates had low bulk density, $0.9-1.2\;g/cm^3$, hence floated on the water and had the strength of 7.0-11.0 MPa and the modulus of 2900-3300 MPa which indicates it has enough strength as the aggregate. Another type of the light weight aggregate was prepared from fly ashes, shell powders and clays. The bulk density, porosity, and compressive strength of these aggregates were $1.19-1.34\;g/cm^3,\;18.3{\sim}56.1%$ and 5-12 MPa, respectively. The addition of a small amount of fly ash powder prevented hydration of the light weight aggregates. The red brick was also fabricated from the fly ash containing materials. It is suitable for the brick facing of a building as it has moderate strength and low water absorption rate.

  • Recent trend is to use the lightweight concrete in the construction industry because it has several advantages over normal weight concrete. The Lightweight concrete can be produced from the industrial waste materials. In South East Asian region, researchers are very keen to use the waste materials such as oil palm shell (OPS) and palm oil clinker (POC) from the palm oil producing industries. Extensive research has been done on lightweight concrete using OPS or POC over the last three decades. In this paper the aggregate properties of OPS and POC are plotted in conjunction with mechanical and structural behavior of OPS concrete (OPSC) and POC concrete (POCC). Recent investigation on the use of crushed OPS shows that OPSC can be produced to medium and high strength concrete. The density of OPSC and POCC is around 20-25% lower than normal weight concrete. Generally, mechanical properties of OPSC and POCC are comparable with other types of lightweight aggregate concrete. It can be concluded from the previous study that OPSC and POCC have the noteworthy potential as a structural lightweight concrete.

  • As construction industry is requiring competitive power and technique in national construction market with rapid fluctuation of construction environment and development, requirements upgrading performance in construction materials are increasing. But, national lightweight aggregate and lightweight concrete's inappropriateness when produced are also increasing. And there are not international standard of aggregates in using these construction materials because standards and characteristics of aggregate in each countries are different. Therefore, in this study, lightweight aggregate acquired due to wide range of use is tested and mixed for concrete to gain practicality and set the authorized manual in international. Also, basic data will be proposed to set a standard for concrete by analyzing lightweight aggregate characteristics. When lightweight aggregate absorptivity is high, concrete shows low strength and when it's density is low, concrete shows low weight of unit volume. Furthermore, compressive strength of lightweight aggregate is steep in first and longtime material age is tendency to cause low strength increasing rate.

  • Lightweight steel is a crucial material that is being actively studied because of increased carbon emissions, tightening regulations regarding fuel efficiency, and the emergence of UAM, all of which have been recently labeled as global issues. Hence, new strategies concerning the thickness and size reduction of steel are required. In this study, we manufacture lightweight steel of the Fe-Mn-Al-C system, which has been recently studied using the DED process. By using 2.8 wt.% low-Mn lightweight steel, we attempt to solve the challenge of joining steel parts with a large amount of Mn. Among the various process variables, the laser scan power is set at 600 and 800 W, and the laser scan speed is fixed at 16.67 mm/s before the experiments. Several pores and cracks are observed under both conditions, and negligibly small pores of approximately 0.5 ㎛ are observed.

  • Based on the proven feasibility of bottom ash and tire shred-soil mixtures as lightweight fill materials, tire shred-bottom ash mixtures were suggested as a new lightweight fill material to replace the conventional construction material with bottom ash. Therefore, we carried out the laboratory test, field compaction test and performance test of large scale embankment in order to evaluate their suitability for the use of lightweight fill materials in the before studies. We could verified that the ash, tire-shred and the mixture are able to be the useful materials as light fill materials. In this study, we estimated the long-term compressible settlements for 6 materials such as TA(Tire-Bottom Ash mixture), TBA(Tire-Bottom Ash<5mm) mixture, TWS(Tire-Weathered Soil mixture), Bottom Ash, Bottom Ash(<5mm), Weathered soils.
