Perimeter zone has been reinforced by active systems, such as fan-coil units, because it causes an increase in heating and cooling loads, dew condensation in winter, or discomfort with cold-draft to residents in buildings, through poor insulation by light-weighed skin due to progressing multi-storied buildings and skyscrapers. However, because these active systems raise Its capacity so that fossil fuel is used as much as they are added, and ultimately, greenhouse effect is urged, we proposed BIPV system functioned as solar collector which can substitute active system. As an early stage, heat balance equation in steady-state by Fortran was used not only for pre-heating effect and electric power capacity during the day in winter, but also for electric power capacity during day in slimmer and sky radiation effect during night in summer. Especially, we should have considered shading on PV, since even a little bit of it makes the efficiency too low for the PV to work. Still, when the flux of pre-heated air was increased to make air-barrier, its temperature was not enough to make it because the speed of heat exchange was too fast to warm up the air, thus the capacity to meet the condition was evaluated, and electric power from PV was made used for it.

The unsteady problem of a rigid body impact onto a floating plate is studied. Both the plate and the water are at rest before impact. The plate motion is caused by the impact force transmitted to the plate through an elastic layer with viscous damping on the top of the plate. The hydrodynamic force is calculated by using the second-order model of plate impact by Iafrati and Korobkin (2011). The present study is concerned with the deceleration experienced by a rigid body during its collision with a floating object. The problem is studied also by a fully-nonlinear computational-fluid-dynamics method. The elastic layer is treated with a moving body-fitted grid, the impacting body with an immersed boundary method, and a discrete-element method is used for the contact-force model. The presence of the elastic layer between the impacting bod- ies may lead to multiple bouncing of them, if the bodies are relatively light, before their interaction is settled and they continue to penetrate together into the water. The present study is motivated by ship slamming in icy waters, and by the effect of ice conditions on conventional free-fall lifeboats.

The existing smart farm technology has been systematized for the mass production rather than the consumer. There are many problems such as economical aspect to apply to actual rural environment due to aging. The purpose of this study is to apply smart farm technology based on the applicability of population aged in rural areas. Due to the heat wave, the crops in general greenhouse cultivation facilities suffered from damage such as sunlight damage. To minimize such damage, adjust the temperature and humidity environment or install a light-shielding film. However, the workers in the rural areas are aging and the elderly who are farming alone have a lot of difficulties in doing so. In the case of people with weak physical strength, there is a danger that they may lead to safety accidents when carrying heavy loads. In this paper, we propose 'Smart Palm capable of automatic transportation function', applying small smart vehicles that follow workers to existing smart farms to improve and prevent these problems. It is a smart farm that performs the control functions of the existing smart greenhouse environment, installs the rail for each trough, and has a vehicle that follows the worker. The smart app can directly control the greenhouse and the vehicle remotely manually.

Semi-transparent Photovoltaics (STPV) works as an exterior material replacing windows as well as functioning as a electricity generator. As a result, it also affects the building's heating, cooling and lighting loads. In this study, we used the concept of Net Electricity Benefit(NEB) to conduct a parametric analysis of building energy impact of STPV. The NEB of STPV is from $-1kWh/m^2$ to $6kWh/m^2$. Since NEB represents the amount of energy increase or decrease when STPV is applied compared to the standard window, a value of 0 or less means that the demand for building energy can be increased rather than applying a general window having high thermal performance and high visible light transmittance value. Therefore, it is necessary to perform a comprehensive performance evaluation considering both the performance evaluation based on the existing power generation performance and the influence on the building energy.
Buildings with mono-sloped roofs are used for different purposes like at railway platforms, restaurants, industrial buildings, etc. Between two types of mono-slope roofs, clad and unclad, unclad canopy types are more vulnerable to wind load as wind produces pressure on both upper and lower surfaces of the roof, resulting in uplifting of the roof surface. This paper discusses the provisions of wind loads in different codes and standards for Low-rise buildings. Further, the pressure coefficients on mono-slope canopy roof available in wind code and standards are compared. Previous experimental studies for mono-slope canopy roof along with the recent wind tunnel testing carried out at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee is briefly discussed and compared with the available wind codes. From the study it can further be asserted that the information available related to staging or blocking under the mono-slope canopy roofs is limited. This paper is an attempt to put together the available information in different wind codes/standards and the research works carried out by different researchers, along with shedding some light on the future scopes of research on mono-slope canopy roofs.
An unbraced cantilever beam subjected to loads which cause bending about the major axis may buckle in a flexuraltorsional mode by deflecting laterally and twisting. For the efficient design of these structures, design engineers require a simple accurate equation for the elastic flexural-torsional buckling load. Existing solutions for the flexural-torsional buckling of cantilever beams have mainly been derived by numerical methods which are tedious to implement. In this research, an attempt is made to derive a theoretical equation by the energy method using different buckled shapes. However, the results of a finite element flexural-torsional buckling analysis reveal that the buckled shapes for the lateral deflection and twist rotation are different for cantilever beams. In particular, the buckled shape for the twist rotation also varies with the section size. In light of these findings, the finite element flexural-torsional buckling analysis was then used to derive simple accurate equations for the elastic buckling load and moment for cantilever beams subjected to end point load, uniformly distributed load and end moment. The results are compared with previous research and it was found that the equations derived in this study are accurate and simple to use.

A transfer cask serves as the container for transporting and handling canisters loaded with spent nuclear fuels from light water reactors. This study focuses on a cylindrical transfer cask, standing at 5,300 mm with an external diameter of 2,170 mm, featuring impact limiters on the top and bottom sides. The base of the cask body has an openable/closable lid for loading canisters with storage modules. The transfer cask houses a canister containing spent nuclear fuels from lightweight reactors, serving as the confinement boundary while the cask itself lacks the confinement structure. The objective of this study was to conduct a structural analysis evaluation of the transfer cask, currently under development in Korea, ensuring its safety. This evaluation encompasses analyses of loads under normal, off-normal, and accident conditions, adhering to NUREG-2215. Structural integrity was assessed by comparing combined results for each load against stress limits. The results confirm that the transfer cask meets stress limits across normal, off-normal, and accident conditions, establishing its structural safety.

Construction of high-rise structures, formwork systems that can be installed quickly, resistant to external loads, can be used more than once, have become a necessity. Timber and composite timber materials are preferred in the formation of such formwork systems due to their durability, ease of assembly, light weight and easy to use more than one time. Formwork beams are the most commonly used structural component in the formation of such formwork systems, and these beams can be damaged for different reasons during their lifetime. In this study, H20 top P type timber formwork beams with 1800 and 2450 mm length which is among the products of DOKA(c) company is damaged under the effect of static loading up to a high load level of 85% of the maximum ultimate capacity and after being retrofitted using anchored CFRP strips, performance and behavior of the beams under the influence of various loading types such as static, fatigue and impact are investigated experimentally. Two different lengths of retrofitted timber formwork beams were tested by applying monotonic static, fatigue and impact loading and comments were made about the effects of the retrofit method on performance under different loading types.
Energy savings can be achieved with optimum energy consumptions, brake energy regeneration, efficient energy storage (onboard, line side), and primarily with light weight vehicles. Over the last few years, the rolling stock industry has experienced a marked increase in eco-awareness and needs for lower life cycle energy consumption costs. For rolling stock vehicle designers and engineers, weight has always been a critical design parameter. It is often specified directly or indirectly as contractual requirements. These requirements are usually expressed in terms of specified axle load limits, braking deceleration levels and/or demands for optimum energy consumptions. The contractual requirements for lower weights are becoming increasingly more stringent. Light weight vehicles with optimized strength to weight ratios are achievable through proven design processes. The primary driving processes consist of: $\bullet$ material selection to best contribute to the intended functionality and performance $\bullet$ design and design optimization to secure the intended functionality and performance $\bullet$ weight control processes to deliver the intended functionality and performance Aluminium has become the material of choice for modern light weight bodyshells. Steel sub-structures and in particular high strength steels are also used where high strength - high elongation characteristics out way the use of aluminium. With the improved characteristics and responses of composites against tire and smoke, small and large composite materials made components are also found in greater quantities in today's railway vehicles. Full scale hybrid composite rolling stock vehicles are being developed and tested. While an "overdesigned" bodyshell may be deemed as acceptable from a structural point of view, it can, in reality, be a weight saving missed opportunity. The conventional pass/fail structural criteria and existing passenger payload definitions promote conservative designs but they do not necessarily imply optimum lightweight designs. The weight to strength design optimization should be a fundamental design driving factor rather than a feeble post design activity. It should be more than a belated attempt to mitigate against contractual weight penalties. The weight control process must be rigorous, responsible, with achievable goals and above all must be integral to the design process. It should not be a mere tabulation of weights for the sole-purpose of predicting the axle loads and wheel balances compliance. The present paper explores and discusses the topics quoted above with a view to strengthen the recommendations and needs for the weight optimization by design approach as a pro-active design activity for the rolling stock industry at large.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the tensile bond strength between composite resin and the human enamel. Three composite resin systems, two chemical (Clearfil Posterior, and Clearfil Posterior-3) and one light cure (Photo Clearfil-A), used with and without an intermediate resin (clearfil bonding agent), were evaluated under different amounts of load (10g, 200g and 200g for a moment) for in vitro tensile bond strength to acid-eched human enamel. Clinically intact buccal or lingual surfaces of 144 freshly extracted human permanent molars, embedded in acrylic were flattened with No #600 carborundum discs. Samples were randomly assigned to the different materials and treatments using a table of random numbers. Eight samples were thus prepared for each group(Table 2) these surfaces were etched with an acid etchant (Kurarey Co. Japan) in a mode of etching for 30 seconds, washing for 15 seconds, and drying for 30-seconds. During the polymerization of composite resin on the acid-etched enamel surfaces with and without bonding agent 10-gram, 200 gram and temporary 200 gram of load were applied. The specimens were stored in 50% relation humidity at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours before testing. An universal Testing machine (Intesco model No. 2010, Tokyo, Japan) was used to apply tensile loads in the vertical directed (fig 5), and the force required for separation was recorded with a cross head speed of 0.25 mm/min and 20 kg in full scale. The results were as follow: 1. The tensile bond strength was much greater in applying a bonding agent than in not doing that. 2. The tensile bond strength of chemical cure composite resin was higher than that of light cure composite resin with applying on bonding agent on the acid-etched enamel. 3. In case of not applying a bonding agents on the acid-etching enamel, the highest tensile bond strength under 200 gram of load was measured in light cure composite resin. 4. The tensile bond strength under 200-gram of load has no relation with applying the bonding agent. 5. Under the load of 10-gram, There was significant difference in tensile bond strength as applying the bonding agent.
