Design of Accelerated Life Test Sampling Plans for Exponential Distribution under Type II Censoring (지수수명분포에 대한 가속수명시험 샘플링검사방식의 설계: 제II종 관측중단의 경우)

  • This paper considers the design of life test sampling plans based on Type II censored accelerated life tests. The lifetime distribution of products is assumed to be exponential. An estimator of acceleration factor between use condition stress and an accelerated level of stress higher than use condition stress is assumed to be known. The critical value for lot acceptance and the number of failure before censoring which satisfy the producer's and consumer's risk requirements are determined. The properties of the proposed life test sampling plans are investigated.

Distribution of Rhizosphere and Endosphere Fungi on the First-Class Endangered Plant Cypripedium japonicum

  • Endangered native plant habitats and populations are rapidly disappearing because of climate and environmental changes. As a representative, the abundance of the first-class endangered wild plant, Cypripedium japonicum, has been rapidly decreasing in Korea. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the distribution of rhizosphere and endophytic fungi on C. japonicum in its native habitat. A total of 440 rhizosphere and 79 endosphere fungi isolates were isolated and identified on the basis of their molecular characteristics. Sixty-five genera and 119 fungi species were identified in this study. The genus Trichoderma showed the highest abundance among both rhizosphere and endosphere fungi. Mortierella, Hypocrea, and Penicillium spp. were also relatively dominant species on C. japonicum. The community structures of rhizosphere and endosphere fungi were similar, but endosphere fungi showed greater diversity.

  • Oil-filled transformer technology has been around more than 100 years. The principle of operation in the same today as it has been for the previous decades. But all transformers have their life so it is important to know their useful life and the time for replacement. This paper will address this issue and provide the distribution transformer oil aging test results. Distribution transformer and laboratory specimens were externally heated to their respective maximum temperatures. Sample of oil and paper were removed at convenient intervals for testing. We believe that the results of this study will show the possibility of assessing the life of transformers.

  • In this paper, a two-stage group sampling plan based on the time truncated life test is proposed for the Weibull distribution. The design parameters such as the number of groups and the acceptance number in each stage are determined by satisfying the producer's and consumer's risks simultaneously when the group size and the test duration are specified. The acceptable reliability level is expressed by the ratio of the true mean life to the specified life. It was demonstrated from the comparison with single-stage group sampling plans that the proposed plan can reduce the average sample number or improve the operating characteristics.

  • In order to estimate the life time of epoxy composites used for modeling material of transformer, the AC breakdown experiments of it were experimented and then the AC breakdown data were also simulated by Weibull distribution equation in this study. The life time of H100F65 specimen was the shortest and it of SH100F65 specimen was the longest, and as the AC voltage was applied to specimen for 50[min], the breakdown probability of each specimen was 31.2[%], 17.00[%], 84.36[%] and 12.35[%], respectively.

  • Recently the design of multi-stage gear drive is being highly concerned. Until now, since the researches of gear drive are focused on the design for satisfying safety factor, the reliability evaluation of multi-stage gear drive is not included. In this paper, the life and reliability models of multi-stage gear drive are proposed using methods of probability and statistics. The life and reliability of the multi-stage gear drive have been evaluated, which is based on the life and reliability of each stage gear drive. The pinion and gear lives of each stage are calculated using the Lundberg-Palmgren theory and the Weibull failure distribution. These lives are combined using methods of probability and statistics to produce a life and reliability model of multi-stage gear drive.

  • Accelerated life testing of a car is used to get information quickly on its life distribution. Test cars are no under severe conditions and fail sooner than under usual conditions. A model is fitted to the accelerated failure times and then extrapolated to estimate the life distribution under usual conditions. This paper presents an accelerated test md the reliability growth theory, and applies it to some subsystems of cars during their prototype and pilot testing. The data presented illustrates explicitly the prediction of the reliability growth in the product development cycle. The application of these techniques is a part of the product assurance function that plays an important role in product reliability improvement.

On testing NBUL aging class of life distribution

  • Let X and $X_t$ denote the lifetime and the residual life at age t, respectively. X is said to be a NBUL (new better than used in Laplace transform order) random variable if $X_t$ is smaller than X in Laplace order, i.e., $X_t{\leq}_{LT}X$. We propose a new test statistics for testing exponentiality versus NBUL class of life distribution. The tests by Hollender and Proschan (1975) and the generalized Hollender and Proschan test by Ains and Mitra (2011) are considered as special cases of the our of test statistics. Our proposed test statistics is simple, consistent and asymptotically normal. Efficiency and powers of the test statistics for some commonly used distributions in reliability are discussed. Finally, real examples are presented to illustrate the theoretical results.

  • In the manufacturing process the most widely used $\bar{X}$ chart has been applied to control the process mean. Also, Accelerated Life Test(ALT) is commonly used for efficient assurance of product life in development phases, which can be applied in production reliability acceptance test. When life data has lognormal distribution, through censored ALT design so that censored ALT data has asymptotic normal distribution, $ALT\bar{X}$ control chart integrating $\bar{X}$ chart and ALT procedure could be applied to control the mean of process in the manufacturing process. In the situation that process variation is controlled, $Z_p$ control chart is an effective method for the very small fraction nonconforming of quality characteristic. A simultaneous control scheme with $ALT\bar{X}$ control chart and $Z_p$ control chart is designed for the very small fraction nonconforming of product lifetime.

  • Pneumatic cylinders that are usually applied in the factory automation line have complicated failure cause because they are composed of various elements. In this study, we performed life test and performance test of double acting pneumatic cylinders according to the international standards and then analyzed the life and the main failure mode of the cylinders in the same load condition. On the basis of these processes, we can estimate shape parameter for the reliability estimation of pneumatic cylinders and their data analysis of life distribution.
