Power quality has always been a concern of power engineers. Certainly an argument can be successfully made that most parts of power engineering have the ultimate objective to improve power quality. AC motors were widely used in industrial and domestic applications. Generally, AC motors were of two types: Induction and Synchronous motors. In motor many parameters like different load cycling, switching, working in hot weather and unbalances creates harmonics which creates major reasons for temperature rise of the motors. Due to high peak value of voltage, harmonics can weaken insulation in cables, windings and capacitors and different electronic components. Higher value of harmonics increase the motor current and decrease the power factor which will reduce the life time of the motor and increase the overall rating of all electrical equipments. Harmonics reduction of all the motors in India will save more power. Coating of windings of the motor with nano fillers will reduce the amount of harmonics in the motor. Based on the previous project works, actions were taken to use the enamel filled with various nano fillers for the coating of the windings of the different AC motors. Ball mill method was used to convert the micro particles of Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2, ZrO2 and ZnO into nano particles. SEM, TEM and XRD were used to augment the particle size of the powder. The synthesized nano powders were mixed with the enamel by using ultrasonic vibrator. Then the enamel mixed with the nano fillers was coated to the windings of the several AC motors. Harmonics were measured in terms of various indices like THD, VHD, CHD and DIN by using Harmonic analyzer. There are many other measures and indices to describe power quality, but none is applicable in all cases and in many instances, these indices may hide more than they show. Sometimes power quality indices were used as a basis of comparison and standardization. The efficiency of the motors was increased by 5 – 10 %. The thermal withstanding capacity of the motor was increased by 5º to 15º C. The harmonics of the motors were reduced by 10 – 50%.

The purpose of this study was investigate to the influence of forest roads characteristics and environment factors on the soil erosion, stability and vegetation survival of cut slope in forest roads. The results obtained could be summarized as follows; 1. The correlated factors between slope erosion and variables in cut slope were altitude, convex, degree of slope, length of slope and soil depth. In the stepwise regression analysis, length of slope and soil hardness was a high significant and its regression equation was given by -89.6136 + 15.0667X14 + 16.6713X15($R^2$ = 0.6712). 2. The main factors influencing the stability of cut slope were significant in order of coverage, middle, convex, length of slope and north, and its discriminant equation was given by -1.019 + 0.064X22 - 0.808X8 - 0.622X24 + 0.742X11 - 0.172X14 - 0.545X6 ($R^2$ = 0.793). 3. The centroids value of discriminant function in the stability and unstability estimated to 1.244 and -1.348, respectively. The boundary value between two groups related to slope stability was -0.1038. The prediction rate of discriminant function for stability evaluation of was as high as 91.3%. 4. The dominant species of invasion vegetation on the cut slope consist with Carex humilis, Agropyron tsukushiense var. transiens, Calamagrostis arundinacea, Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens, and Ixeris dentata in survey area. The rate of vegetation invasion more increased by time passed. 5. The life form of invasion vegetation in cut slop showed to $H-D_1-R_{2,3}-e$ type of the hemicryptophyte of dormancy form, dissem inated widely by wind and water of dissminule type, moderate extent and narrowest extent of radicoid type, erect form of growth form. 6. The correlated factors between forest enviroment and coverage appeared north, passage years and middle position of slope at 5% level. The forest environment factors influencing the invasion plants in survey area were shown in order to altitude, passage years, rock(none), forest type(mixed) and stone amount. The regression equation was given by 17.5228 - 0.0911X3 + 3.6189X28 15.8493X22 19.8544X25 + 0.3558X26 ($R^2$ = 0.4026).

To elucidate succession of bacterial populations, especially nitrifying bacteria during the composting of cattle manure with apple pomace, fluorescent in situ hybridization(FISH) using rRNA targeted oligonucleotide probes were applied. The density of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria was ranged from $3,3{\times}10^6cells/g$ dw to $13,4{\times}10^6cells/g$ dw with the peak value after 26 composting days whereas that of nitrite-oxidizing bacteria varied between $6.0{\times}10^6cells/g$ dw and $17.2{\times}10^6cells/g$ dw with the peak value after 7 composting days. And the tendency that the numbers of nitrite-oxidizing bacteria were higher than those of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria, and the peak-time of their densities were the same as that of data determined by the ratio of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria to eubacteria. The peak of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria followed the peak of nitrite-oxidizing bacteria, at the late phase of composting process could be probably caused by the depletion of volatile ammonia of composting materials. Besides these results indicate that FISH method is a useful tool for detection of slow growing nitrifying bacteria.
The protein contents of soy protein isolate (SPI) and soft wheat flours were 83.5% and 8.5%, respectively. The addition of SPI increased the protein content but decreased the sedimentation value. Alkaline water retention capacity (AWRC) value increased with SPI addition and was highly correlated with protein content. Increasing SPI flour content significantly decreased the maximum, minimum and final viscosities. Mixograph peak time was positively correlated with protein content and AWRC. The PH and specific gravity of the cake batter increased with increasing SPI content. The SPI addition reduced the loaf and specific loaf volume compared with soft wheat flour. The lightness of the cake crust decreased, while the redness and yellowness increased, with SPI flour addition. SPI addition resulted in a decrease of overall acceptability, but an increase in hardness.
The purpose of this study is to investigate women's radio talk program and evaluate its possibilities and limitation from the point of feminist perspective. The theoretical framework is based on feminist studies and text analysis of talk show. Existing studies regarding talk show are mainly focused on television. But radio talk show is one of general entertainment and it's influences on minorities are still significant. is the most representative women's radio talk program in Korea. It has been broadcasted over 10 years and very popular among Korean housewives. The audience of this program call themselves schoolfellow, and call the program 'school of women'. The media text of is mainly consisted of letters from women audiences, and they are selected by producers. So the text is made by both audiences and producers. The unique combination of this process produces complicated discourses which contain women's experiences in letters and station's considerations through safekeeping. The problems investigated in this study are as follows: First, What discourses are produced in this program? Second, Alternative possibilities can be seen in this program in feminist perspectives? Text analysis of 1week(2000.9.18-9.24) and interview with producers are accomplished to this purposes. In the text analysis, subject matters, inscribed women's position, values of the letters are revealed. Most of the subject matters are family affairs. Some are socially oriented but family and home are the predominant category of women's letters. And the position of women subject is defined in the domestic network. They are nameless but the mother, wife, daughter, daughter-in-law of other people. In value, family-oriented value and small happiness in everyday life are generally appeared. But these values are essentially coincide with the values of status quo. The answers of the conflict are not public but individualized. And acception the status quo is presented as the wisest decision, But ` has many implications in relation to women's sharing of their experience, and construction of imagined community in media. Women continuously interact each other revealing and discussing their experiences and sometimes their social practices are stirred through this media sphere. So we see the 'emotional union' among women are formed through radio. The limitation of this program is very apparent: it's patriarchic values, acception of status quo, and individualization of the women's problems. But in the same time we can read coexisting it's latent possibilities: the possibilities of women's public sphere. But it is completely alternative women's sphere in feminist perspectives. It renders women opportunities to participate public media and share with other women, and collaborate with their problem.
Shank skin color of Korean native chicken (KNC) shows large color variations. It varies from white, yellow, green, bluish or grey to black, whilst in the majority of European breeds the shanks are typically yellow-colored. Three shank skin color-related traits (i.e., lightness [$L^*$], redness [$a^*$], and yellowness [$b^*$]) were measured by a spectrophotometer in 585 progeny from 68 nuclear families in the KNC resource population. We performed genome scan linkage analysis to identify loci that affect quantitatively measured shank skin color traits in KNC. All these birds were genotyped with 167 DNA markers located throughout the 26 autosomes. The SOLAR program was used to conduct multipoint variance-component quantitative trait locus (QTL) analyses. We detected a major QTL that affects $b^*$ value (logarithm of odds [LOD] = 47.5, $p=1.60{\times}10^{-49}$) on GGA24 (GGA for Gallus gallus). At the same location, we also detected a QTL that influences $a^*$ value (LOD = 14.2, $p=6.14{\times}10^{-16}$). Additionally, beta-carotene dioxygenase 2 (BCDO2), the obvious positional candidate gene under the linkage peaks on GGA24, was investigated by the two association tests: i.e., measured genotype association (MGA) and quantitative transmission disequilibrium test (QTDT). Significant associations were detected between BCDO2 g.9367 A>C and $a^*$ ($P_{MGA}=1.69{\times}10^{-28}$; $P_{QTDT}=2.40{\times}10^{-25}$). The strongest associations were between BCDO2 g.9367 A>C and $b^*$ ($P_{MGA}=3.56{\times}10^{-66}$; $P_{QTDT}=1.68{\times}10^{-65}$). However, linkage analyses conditional on the single nucleotide polymorphism indicated that other functional variants should exist. Taken together, we demonstrate for the first time the linkage and association between the BCDO2 locus on GGA24 and quantitatively measured shank skin color traits in KNC.
Along with economic growth which affects to the overall increase in income level within society, more permissible leisure time, and change in values of the life style directly affected to the more demand of performance arts. The theaters where the performance contents are actually accomplished have been built with various objectives and now there are 232 of performing art theaters are in operation at various locations over the country. The purpose of this research is to identify behavioral factors regarding how the preferable choice were made from the various type of the performance arts, study for the correlation on post behavior customer based on the survey conducted at Sori Art Center. As a result of this research, there were strong correlation were identified between how the preferable choice were made among the various type of performance and Customer's intend of returning visit /perceivd value. In addition to the aforementioned result, the survey result shows that the excellence of the facility, hospitality level of the staffs, and additional customer services were the meaningful positive factors and user convenience/subsidiary facilities were negative factors to the overall service quality control activities. The research reveals meaningful correlations between quality of the customer service factors and how the preferable choice were made by customer that lead to strategic plan which will increase competitiveness of the Sori Art Center. Extensive research for the Sori Art Center which represents cultural power of the local community would be exemplary case not only for the art centers in metropolitan area but also other local areas within the country.
Purpose: The lateral epicondylitis is very common around elbow joint. We investigated the effectiveness of arthroscopic treatment. Materials and Methods: From Oct. 2002 to Feb. 2006, a total of 14 patients who were diagnosed with lateral epicondylitis and treated with arthroscopy were used in this study. The average symptom durations before receiving treatment was 27.3 months (9 to 47 months) and the average follow-up periods was 13.6 months (8 to 22 months). Results: The mean preoperative VAS scores was 8.3 (7 to 10 points) and the mean postoperative scores was 1.6 (0 to 4 points). The lesions of extensor carpi radialis brevis were classified using Baker's classification system. Type 1 lesion was found in 7 cases, type 2 in 4 cases, type 3 in 1 case Patients were able to return to their normal life style by 12.3 days (6 to 27 day). Conclusion: The Clinical outcomes of patients who received arthroscopic treatment were found to be good. Patients experienced lesser pain, and shorter recovery time. Therefore, when conservative treatment is ineffective in treating the lateral epicondylitis, arthroscopic treatment is considered af another option available for patients.
Betarich carrots were washed at various hypochloric acid(HCA) concentration and steeping time and packed in PE bag keeping at $8^{\circ}C$ for 12 days, in order eventually to examine microbiology, firmness, surface color, whiteness index(WI) and sensory quality. It was found that total bacterial counts at T-II and T-III with the 3 minute steeping were $4.37{\pm}0.19\;\log\;CFU/g$ and $4.27{\pm}0.13\;\log\;CFU/g$ respectively, showing slight decrease compared to control condition. E. coli was not detected at all treatments but less coliforms were detected at the 8-day treatments of T-II and T-III. Treatment of 3-minute steeping showed smaller reduction in firmness than that of I-minute steeping at 12-days, and T-1 (T-3) had the largest (smallest) reduction among them. It was also found that during the treatment the L-value showed decreasing trend, but the parameter a- and b-value showed increasing trend. WI increased, and its change was small with the increase in HCA concentration. The sensory quality check after 8 day storage showed that evaluation of the off-flavor appeared to be significantly high (p<0.05) at both non-treatment and HCA treatment. On the basis of the results above, it is likely to be more effective to prolong the period of circulation of beta rich carrots if you use HCA over 50 ppm for washing betarich carrots. This study will contribute to improve safety and quality in circulation of beta rich carrots.
To examine the quality changes of tomato and plum fruits during storage under various storage conditions, the rate of weight loss, pH change, titratable acidity, Hunter a value, firmness, and anthocyanin content were determined during storage. Tomato and plum fruits were stored at 4$^{\circ}C$ and 25$^{\circ}C$. Tomato fruits were packaged with high density polyethylene film (HDPE) and polyvinylidene chloride film (PVDC), and plum fruits were packaged with HDPE. Tomato fruits packaged with PVDC and plum fruits packaged with HDPE at 4$^{\circ}C$ were the most desirable in terms of weight loss. Titratable acidity of tomato fruits decreased with increasing storage time regardless of temperature and packaging method. Hunter a value of tomato fruits stored at 25$^{\circ}C$ increased regardless of packaging method, while it was not changed for tomato fruits stored at 4$^{\circ}C$. Firmness of plum fruits stored at 25$^{\circ}C$ significantly decreased during storage and anthocyanin content increased. Microbial numbers of tomato fruits increased during storage, but its rate was retarded during storage when tomato fruits were packaged with HDPE and stored at 4$^{\circ}C$. These results suggest that cold chain system and appropriate packaging could maintain the quality and prolong the shelf life of fresh produce.
