국내외 전자출판물 납본제도의 분석 (A Comparative Analysis of Legal Deposit System for Electronic Publications)

  • 납본제도는 모든 국가도서관의 자료수집 및 보존기능에 가장 중요한 법적 수단의 하나이다. 그런데 기존의 인쇄자료에 기반한 납본제도로는 전자출판물의 망라적 납본수집이 어렵기 때문에 최근에 상당수의 국가에서 납본법령을 개정하였거나 준비 중에 있다. 이에 본 연구는 법령체계, 납본주체와 피납본기관, 대상 자료의 범주, 납본의 부수와 시한, 납본자료의 매체변형, 보상과 제재 등을 중심으로 국내외 전자출판물의 납본제도를 분석하고자 한다. 그리고 연구의 결과는 후속 과제인 국내 납본제도 개선모형의 이론적 기초로 삼을 것이다.

노인용 큰글자도서 개발을 위한 적정문자 연구 (A Study on the Proper Large Print for the Development of Books for the Elderly)

  • 현재까지 우리나라에서 출판된 큰글자도서는 저시력자를 위한 교재가 전부였다. 하지만 최근 독서문화진흥법에서 노령화에 인해 독서자료를 이용할 수 없는 사람들도 독서장애인이라고 정의한만큼 향후 노인을 위한 큰글자도서가 더 많이 보급되어야 할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 노인용 큰글자도서 개발을 위한 적정문자를 밝히고자 80명의 노인들을 대상으로 조사연구 하였다. 연구 목적으로 문자 모양과, 문자 크기, 문자의 행간, 도서의 판형 등에 대한 선호도를 명확하게 밝히는 것으로서 연구방법은 설문조사와 참여관찰 등을 통한 질적연구를 동시에 수행하였다.

Thermal and Organic Chemical Stress Responsive Genes in Soft Coral, Scleronephthya gracillimum

  • The extensive isolation of genes responsive to stressful conditions from a soft coral Scleronephthya gracillimum was described. Soft coral colonies were exposed to thermal and chemical stressors to induce the expression of stress related genes. Differentially expressed genes by natural or anthropogenic stressors were identified by construction of standard and stress exposed-paired subtractive cDNA library. Thirty-two and thirty-seven kinds of candidate genes were identified from thermal or benzo[a]pyrene stress exposed group, respectively, which are associated with cell cycle, cell signaling, transcription, translation, protein metabolism, and other cellular functions. The expected function of each gene was described. The isolated and identified differentially expressed genes have a great potential to identify environmental stressors in global environmental changes and could act as molecular biomarkers for biological responses against environmental changes. Finally, it may open a new paradigm on soft coral health assessment.

도서관의 소통적 특성을 기반으로 한 공공도서관의 역할정립에 관한 연구 (A Study on Defining the Role of Public Libraries Based on Their Communicative Characteristics)

  • 본 연구는 도서관의 지역성, 공동체성, 상호작용성 및 유기체성이라는 소통적 특성을 발굴하고, 이들을 이루는 구성요소가 타당한지 측정하고자 하였으며 연구결과를 통해 소통적 특성을 기반으로 한 공공도서관의 역할을 정립하고자 하였다. 연구결과, 최종적으로 도서관은 '지역성', '공동체성', '상호작용성', '유기체성'의 4개의 소통적 특성을 지는 것으로 나타났다. 4개의 소통적 특성은 16개 구성요소, 이에 따른 63개의 세부요소로 구분할 수 있다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 델파이 조사결과를 종합하여 소통적 특성에 따라 공공도서관의 역할을 정립하였다. 첫째, 도서관이 건강한 지역사회를 형성하는 공간으로 커뮤니티 활동을 위한 다양한 공간을 제공하고, 커뮤니티의 생성과 강화에 기여하며 이에 필요한 정보를 제공하는 역할을 한다. 둘째, 도서관은 공동체성 강화를 위해 지역의 문화공동체 형성과 대인관계 향상, 사회적응력 향상 지원을 통해 지역사회의 소속감 형성에 기여하며, 지역주민 간의 활발한 지역 활동을 지원해야 한다. 셋째, 도서관은 다양한 세대들이 의견을 공유하고, 여가활동을 위한 공간, 지역공동체의 문화 성장을 위한 공간으로 역할을 한다. 넷째, 소통적 특성으로서 도서관 유기체성은 내·외부 환경변화에 따라 도서관의 전통적인 역할과 기능인 정보전달, 정보서비스뿐만 아니라 새로운 개념이 도입되어, 확장된 서비스를 통해 이루어지는 것으로 볼 수 있다.

Pheopolykrikos hartmannii(W. Zimmermann) Matsuoka & Fukuyo 휴면포자와 유영세포: 형태적 특징 및 계통 분류, 발아에 미치는 온도 영향 (Resting cysts and vegetative cells of Pheopolykrikos hartmannii (W. Zimmermann) Matsuoka & Fukuyo(Dinophyceae): Morphology, phylogeny, and effect of temperature on germination)

  • 한국 남해역의 퇴적물에서 분리한 Pheopolykrikos hartmannii 휴면포자는 구형으로 밝은 갈색을 띠고 있으며, 표면에는 길고 날카로운 돌기물이 관찰되고 내부에는 원형질과 함께 한개의 붉은색 색소체(red accumulation)가 있다. 이 휴면포자는 5℃를 제외하고, 10℃에서 30℃ 사이의 온도에서 발아하였고, 15℃와 20℃에서 높은 발아율(>90%)을 보였다. 휴면포자로부터 발아한 유영세포는 2개의 세포로 된 콜로니(two-celled colony) 형태로 관찰되었고, 전방세포의 상추구에서 고리 모양의 apical groove가 관찰되었다. 그리고 분자계통 분석 결과, Pheopolykrikos hartmannii는 Polykrikos종과 근연 관계로 확인되었다.

In Vitro Antifungal Activity and Mode of Action of 2',4'-Dihydroxychalcone against Aspergillus fumigatus

  • 2',4'-Dihydroxychalcone (2',4'-DHC) was identified from a heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90)-targeting library as a compound with Hsp90 inhibitory and antifungal effects. In the presence of 2',4'-DHC ($8{\mu}g/mL$), radial growth of Aspergillus fumigatus was inhibited 20% compared to the control, and green pigmentation was completely blocked. The expression of the conidiation-associated genes abaA, brlA, and wetA was significantly decreased (approximately 3- to 5-fold) by treatment with 2',4'-DHC. The expression of calcineurin signaling components, cnaA and crzA, was also significantly reduced. The inhibitory effects of 2',4'-DHC on metabolic activity and mycelial growth were significantly enhanced by combination treatment with itraconazole and caspofungin. Docking studies indicated that 2',4'-DHC bind to the ATPase domain of Hsp90. These results suggest that 2',4'-DHC act as an Hsp90-calcinurin pathway inhibitor.

Isolation and Characterization of a Pollen-specific cDNA Clone from Easter Lily

  • A pollen-specific cDNA clone, LMP50, was isolated from the mature pollen cDNA library of the Easter lily. The LMP50 transcript was highly abundant in mture pollen grains but not detectable in other organs. The LMP50 cDNA clone contains 1383 nucleotides and two open reading frames. The first codes for a peptide of 15 amino acid residues. The role of this peptide is nuclear. The second encodes a protein containing 329 amino acid residues. This protein exhibited a significant homology to human tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase and porcine uteroferrin. Both of these enzymes have been suggested to play a role in iron transport. Therefore, LMP50 may act as an iron carrier protein in mature pollen grains.

Plant Extracts Inhibiting Biofilm Formation by Streptococcus mutans without Antibiotic Activity

  • Streptococcus mutans causes oral diseases, including tooth decay, by producing a biofilm called plaque. Therefore, inhibition of biofilm formation is essential for maintaining oral health. Plants produce a variety of secondary metabolites, which act as starting sources for the discovery of new bioactive chemicals that inhibit biofilm formation of S. mutans. Previous studies have reported on chemicals with antibiotic activity for the inhibition of biofilm formation by S. mutans. In this study, nine plant extracts from Melonis Pedicellus, Agastachis Herba, Mori Cortex Radicis, Diospyros kaki leaves, Agrimoniae Herba, Polygoni Multiflori Radix, Lycopi Herba, Elsholtziae Herba, and Schizonepetae Spica were screened for the inhibition of biofilm formation from a plant extract library. The water-soluble compounds of the extracts did not affect cell growth but selectively inhibited biofilm formation. These results suggest that the selected plant extracts constitute novel biofilm formation inhibitors, with a novel biological mechanism, for improving oral hygiene.

Copyright Issues in Nigeria: Analysis of Nigerian Copyright Commission Cases Between the Years 2008 - 2018

  • Nigeria Copyright Commission is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring adherence to the copyright law in Nigeria. However, it has been observed in the last decade that copyright right issue is still rampant in Nigeria. Therefore, this study analyzed cases that the Commission in involved in between years 2008 to 2018. The study adopted citation analysis. The study collected data from three selected law reports, which include Intellectual Property Law Reports, Nigerian Weekly Law Reports and Nigeria Law Intellectual Property Watch. It was found that Nigerian Law Intellectual Property Watch has the highest number of reports of cases involving Nigerian Copyright Commission while none was reported by Nigerian Weekly Law Reports. It was also found that most of the cases handled by the Commission were on copyright infringement. The study concludes that Nigerian Copyright Commission has been paying credible attention to issue that surrounds software infringement but there has been little attention paid to book piracy. Moreover, it was established that the poor attention given to book piracy may entrench the publication of pirated copy and would subsequently lead to poor library service provision at the long run.

  • In this paper, a design and experiment of PCI Express Core verification Model is described. The model targeting Endpoint core verification is designed by using newly-emerging SystemC which is a system design language based on a new C++ class library and simulation engine. In the verification model, we developed a SystemC Host System model which act as a Root Complex and Device Driver dedicated to the PCI Express Endpoint RTL Core. The test of Host System Model is guided by scenarios which implements and acts point of Device Driver and Root Complex and shows the result of simulation. Also, We present the full structure of verification model and Host model.
