A new control method far vision-based autonomous vehicle is proposed to determine navigation direction by analyzing lane information from a camera and to navigate a vehicle. In this paper, characteristic featured data points are extracted from lane images using a lane recognition algorithm. Then the vehicle is controlled using new Levenberg-Marquardt neural network algorithm. To verify the usefulness of the algorithm, another algorithm, which utilizes the geometric relation of a camera and vehicle, is introduced. The second one involves transformation from an image coordinate to a vehicle coordinate, then steering is determined from Ackermann angle. The steering scheme using Ackermann angle is heavily depends on the correct geometric data of a vehicle and a camera. Meanwhile, the proposed neural network algorithm does not need geometric relations and it depends on the driving style of human driver. The proposed method is superior than other referenced neural network algorithms such as conjugate gradient method or gradient decent one in autonomous lateral control .
THe purpose of this study is to forecast of runoff hydrographs according to rainfall event in a stream. The neural network theory as a hydrologic blackbox model is used to solve hydrological problems. The Back-Propagation(BP) algorithm by the Levenberg-Marquardt(LM) techniques and Radial Basis Function(RBF) network in Neural Network(NN) models are used. Runoff hydrograph is forecasted in Bocheongstream basin which is a IHP the representative basin. The possibility of a simulation for runoff hydrographs about unlearned stations is considered. The results show that NN models are performed to effective learning for rainfall-runoff process of hydrologic system which involves a complexity and nonliner relationships. The RBF networks consist of 2 learning steps. The first step is an unsupervised learning in hidden layer and the next step is a supervised learning in output layer. Therefore, the RBF networks could provide rather time saved in the learning step than the BP algorithm. The peak discharge both BP algorithm and RBF network model in the estimation of an unlearned are a is trended to observed values.

The LM algorithm is used in solving the least square problem in a non linear system, and is used in various fields. However, in cases the applied field's target functionis complicated and high-dimensional, it takes a lot of time solving the inner matrix and vector operations. In such cases, the LM algorithm is unsuitable in embedded environment and requires a hardware accelerator. In this paper, we implemented the LM algorithm in hardware. In the implementation, we used pipeline stages to divide the target function operation, and reduced the period of data input of the matrix and vector operations in order to accelerate the speed. To measure the performance of the implemented hardware, we applied the refining fundamental matrix(RFM), which is a part of 3D reconstruction application. As a result, the implemented system showed similar performance compared to software, and the execution speed increased in a product of 74.3.
In new deregulated electricity market, short-term price forecasting is key information for all market players. A better forecast of market-clearing price (MCP) helps market participants to strategically set up their bidding strategies for energy markets in the short-term. This paper presents a new prediction strategy to improve the need for more accurate short-term price forecasting tool at spot market using an artificial neural networks (ANNs). To build the forecasting ANN model, a three-layered feedforward neural network trained by the improved Levenberg-marquardt (LM) algorithm is used to forecast the locational marginal prices (LMPs). To accurately predict LMPs, actual power generation and load are considered as the input sets, and then the difference is used to predict price differences in the spot market. The proposed ANN model generalizes the relationship between the LMP in each area and the unconstrained MCP during the same period of time. The LMP calculation is iterated so that the capacity between the areas is maximized and the mechanism itself helps to relieve grid congestion. The addition of flow between the areas gives the LMPs a new equilibrium point, which is balanced when taking the transfer capacity into account, LMP forecasting is then possible. The proposed forecasting strategy is tested on the spot market of the Nord Pool. The validity, the efficiency, and effectiveness of the proposed approach are shown by comparing with time-series models

The geoidal undulations are needed for determining the orthometric heights from the Global Positioning System GPS-derived ellipsoidal heights. There are several methods for geoidal undulation determination. The paper presents a method employing a simple architecture Two Layer Multiquadric-Biharmonic Artificial Neural Network (TLMB-ANN) to approximate an area of 4200 square kilometres quasigeoid surface with GPS-levelling data. Hardy’s Multiquadric-Biharmonic functions is used as the hidden layer neurons’ activation function and Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is used to train the artificial neural network. In numerical examples five surfaces were compared: the gravimetric geometry hybrid quasigeoid, Support Vector Machine (SVM) model, Hybrid Fuzzy Neural Network (HFNN) model, Traditional Three Layer Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with tanh activation function and TLMB-ANN surface approximation. The effectiveness of TLMB-ANN surface approximation depends on the number of control points. If the number of well-distributed control points is sufficiently large, the results are similar with those obtained by gravity and geometry hybrid method. Importantly, TLMB-ANN surface approximation model possesses good extrapolation performance with high precision.

Despite the well-known mathematical model of fixed-wing aircraft, there are various studies to meet desired performances by considering the modeling errors in the extended flight envelope. This paper proposes a new adaptation mechanism of model-reference adaptive control, which applies the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm to the pitch attitude control of fixed-wing UAV. In addition, reference model in the adaptation law is set by referring to the dynamic properties of the plant model. The performance of the proposed adaptive control law is verified through simulations and flight tests.

Forecasting of water quality variation is not an easy process due to the complicated nature of various water quality factors and their interrelationships. The objective of this study is to test the applicability of neural network models to the forecasting of the water quality at Gongju station in Geum River. This is done by forecasting monthly water qualities such as DO, BOD, and TN, and comparing with those obtained by ARIMA model. The neural network models of this study use BP(Back Propagation) algorithm for training. In order to improve the performance of the training, the models are tested in three different styles ; MANN model which uses the Moment-Adaptive learning rate method, LMNN model which uses the Levenberg-Marquardt method, and MNN model which separates the hidden layers for judgement factors from the hidden layers for water quality data. the results show that the forecasted water qualities are reasonably close to the observed data. And the MNN model shows the best results among the three models tested
In this paper, we describe a fast image mosaic method for constructing a large-scale image with video image captured from cameras that are arranged in radial shape. In the first step, we adopt the phase correlation algorithm to estimate the horizontal and vertical displacement between two adjacent images. Secondly, we calculate the accurate transform matrix among those cameras with Levenberg-Marquardt method. In the last step, those images are stitched into one large scale image in real-time by applying the transform matrix to the texture mapping function of DirectX. The feature of the method is that we do not need to use special hardware devices or write machine-level programs for Implementing a real-time mosaic system since we use conventional graphic APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), DirectX for image synthesis process.

In this paper, we propose a method to calculate camera motion parameter, which is based on efficient invariant features irrelevant to the camera veiwpoint. As feature information in previous research is variant to camera viewpoint. information content is increased, therefore, extraction of accurate features is difficult. LM(Levenberg-Marquardt) method for camera extrinsic parameter converges on the goat value exactly, but it has also drawback to take long time because of minimization process by small step size. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the extracting method of invariant features to camera viewpoint and two-stage calculation method of camera motion parameter which enhances accuracy and convergent degree by using camera motion parameter by 2D homography to the initial value of LM method. The proposed method are composed of features extraction stage, matching stage and calculation stage of motion parameter. In the experiments, we compare and analyse the proposed method with existing methods by using various indoor images to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithm.
