A Study on the Motivation to Choose a Major and Satisfaction with Social Media Usage in Dental Hygiene Freshman (일부 치위생과 신입생의 학과 선택 동기와 학과 SNS 이용 만족도에 관한 연구)

  • Background: Due to the declining number of students preparing for university entrance exams , the quota of universities has been decreasing continuously. This situation became increasingly diverse as new media used online, mobile, and PR tools to continuously invite students. This study is aimed at offering the helpful data to plan an effective PR strategy by analyzing the correlation between the major selection and satisfaction of the department's social media usage among freshmen majoring in dental hygiene. Methods: The collected data from the self-reported survey with freshmen were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 program. The survey items were motive to select the major, social media platform that subjects used, reasons to use the media, time to visit the department's social media platform, and satisfaction level on the department's social media platform, using a 5-point Likert Scale. Results: The reasons for choosing a major were given by 32.2% and 15.9% respondents, respectively, as the vision after graduation and practice facilities. 39.9% and 31.4% used Instagram and YouTube for social media platforms, respectively, for using social media platform; 26.9% and 26.3% visited the department's social media before and after entering the university, respectively; 46.4% and 24.9% used Instagram and YouTube for department social media; and they generally satisfied with the contents of the department's social media. 40.9% of them said that information from the department's social media was useful. 33.8% of them said the information from the department's social media exceeded their expectations. 46.8% of them answered that the department's social media made the department's image positive. 33.4% got interested in the major more due to the department's social media. According to 32.1% of respondents, the department's social media was helpful in deciding on a major. With 35.4%, a positive correlation was discovered between the department's practice facilities and satisfaction on the department's social media. Conclusion: It is thought that the department's social media should try continuously by uploading the contents to meet the users' needs on a regular basis and seeking the plans to be able to collect various opinions using surveys through the related social media so that students can select the major and, moreover, lead the positive direction to adapt the university life under the unfamiliar environment after admission.

  • Recently, food delivery apps are seeing rapid growth into a market worth 1 trillion won under a simple but unique business model of connecting nearby restaurants with consumers via smartphone. Though basic similarities with social commerce exists in aspects such as mail-order sales intermediaries, startups, types of services and market competition structure, food delivery apps resemble social commerce in many ways in that they use excessive marketing to secure market dominance, causing a spike in consumer complaints. If the excessive marketing and increase in customer complaints are not rectified, the food delivery app could also see rapid decline as it gradually grows distant from consumers, just like social commerce. Accordingly, this study will identify the factors consumers recognize as important for continuous use vis-a-vis social commerce and food delivery apps to perform an empirical analysis on what areas need improvement. After deriving the four upper factors of product, information system and service along with eight sub-factors by referring to existing literature, the areas with opportunity for improvement were derived through satisfaction level and relative importance evaluation. The results of this study present a strategic direction for maintaining customers of social commerce and food delivery apps.

  • The definition of cycle time is the time from the wafer start to the wafer output. It usually takes one or two months to get the product since customer decides to produce it. The cycle time is a critical factor for customer satisfaction because it represents the response time to the market. Long cycle time reflects the ineffective investment for the capital. The cycle time is very important for foundry because long cycle time will cause customer unsatisfied and the order loss. Consequently, all of the foundries put lots of human source in the cycle time improvement. Usually, we make decisions based on the experience in the cycle time management. We have no mechanism or theory for cycle time management. We do work-in-process (WIP) management based on turn rate and standard WIP (STD WIP) set by experiences. But the experience didn't mean the optimal solution, when the situation changed, the cycle time or the standard WIP will also be changed. The experience will not always be applicable. If we only have the experience and no mechanism, management will not be work out. After interview several foundry fab managers, all of the fab can't reflect the situation. That is, all of them will have an impact period after product mix or utilization varied. In this study, we want to develop a formula for standard WIP and use statistical process control (SPC) concept to set WIP upper/lower limit level. When WIP exceed the limit level, it will trigger action plans to compensate WIP Profile. If WIP Profile balances, we don't need too much WIP. So WIP level could be reduced and cycle time also could be reduced.

Benefits of the Various Pain Procedures as Therapeutic Option in Low Back Pain

  • Objective : The authors retrospectively evaluate the benefits of the various pain procedures for the treatment of low back pain unresponsive to conservative management. Methods : Over a period of 2 years from May 2002 and June 2004, the authors had performed various pain procedures on 106 patients with low back pain. Epidural block, facet joint block, sacroiliac joint block, and myofascial block were included among various pain procedures. The pain improvement, period of analgesic use, and degree of satisfaction were evaluated 1 day, 4 weeks, and 6 months after injections. The outcome of pain procedures was analyzed by using a modified Macnab criteria. Results : Sixty-four patients had a single procedure with no combination and 42 patients [39.6%] received the combination of the various pain procedure. Regardless of the single or combination cases of procedure, combination of appropriate spinal level on each procedure was conducted in 104 [98.1%]. Mean follow up period was 12.2 months. Eighty-two patients [77.4%] experienced significant pain relief and overall analgesic medication was reduced in 91 patients [85.8%] at 6 months after procedure. Unfavorable results were demonstrated in 10 patients. Permanent procedural complications did not occur. Conclusion : The various pain procedures are the possible therapeutic option for low back pain unresponsive to conservative management including medication or physical therapy.

A Study on the Wearing Conditions for Developing Police Raincoat with Advanced Work Efficiency (업무효율성이 향상된 경찰 우의 개발을 위한 경찰 우의 착의실태 조사)

  • This study is to understand the problems of current police raincoats for professional policemen and conscripted policemen. Interviews and a survey were completed to investigate the wearing conditions of current police raincoats. The questionnaire was composed of questions on current wearing conditions of raincoat, motional adaptability, dimensional compatibility, design suitability and demographic information on the research target. The results indicated that the wearing frequency of raincoats had significant difference according to duty and age range. The main reason for the low wearing frequency was the uncomfortableness of working while wearing the raincoat, followed by the inconvenience of managing the raincoat after use and feeling hot while wearing the raincoat. The three most important factors when wearing a raincoat was pleasantness, activity capability and the functionality of the fabric. The satisfaction on body parts during motions tended to be evaluated lower as the raincoat size increased. The results of the dissatisfaction factors indicated that the raincoat hood had the most problems. There was inconvenience when using the equipment belt because officers have to wear their belts inside the raincoat. In regards to the fabric satisfaction level, respondents were less satisfied with ventilation, hygroscopicity, and drying time. Therefor it appeared that the current raincoat had problems due a lack of functionality in regards to ventilation, hygroscopicity, and quick drying; in addition, the satisfaction on motional adaptability had a significant difference according to raincoat size.

Perception about Problem-based Learning in Reflective Journals among Undergraduate Nursing Students (성찰일지에 기초한 간호학생의 문제중심학습 경험)

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to explore the variation in perceptions about problem-based learning(PBL) according to the level of academic achievement and learning attitude in the nursing students of a junior college (3-year program). Method: Students (n=39) learned the respiratory and cardiac system with seven PBL packages and group-based learning for a semester in 2002. Students were asked to write reflective journals that focused on their learning perception after an experience with each learning package. A total of 208 journals were used for analysis. Result: Students positively perceived that PBL making them increase their sense of responsibility for learning and felt satisfaction with the learning process, and had a confidence in the use of clinical nursing interventions. On the other hand, they negatively perceived that PBL was a burden because it took more time than traditional learning tasks, and they experienced an anxiety about regular tests and felt conflicts and diffidences in the learning process. The negative perceptions were expressed more often from students with a low academic achievement and low learning attitude compared to others. Conclusion: Students perceived the PBL as effective in understanding the learning concepts in the clinical practice environment.   • The purpose of this study were to find out the practical way to enlarged child-raising knowledge and to enhance their satisfaction with out-patient care by evaluating how effectively the education is done by nurses for mothers with ill-child and how their satisfaction with out-patient care changed. This study was designed as a Nonequivalent Control Group study. The subjects studied were consisted of the experimental and control group. Each consisted of 50 mothers with ill-child in pediatric department at one university hospital in Seoul. The period of this study is from May 20, 1996 to J one 28, 1996. The first data were collected from both of experimental and control groups in which mothers with ill-child come to the hospital for the first time. After this being done, the experimental group had been educated by the planned program and then the second data were collected from them. On the contrary, as for the control group, there had been no education and the second data were col looted on the same method. The data analysis was done by SPSS program. The results of this study are as follow, 1 The child-raising knowledge level of mothers with education was higher than that of with no education. (t=18.84, df=49, p=0.000) 2. The satisfaction with out-patient care level of mothers with education was higher than that of no education. (t=10.51, df=49, p=0.000) Based on these results, I suggest as follow, 1. The research on the patients and their family should be made not only in pediatric department, but in every out-patient department. 2. For more effective education, it is required for all out-patient nurses to research the education demand of patients and their family. 3. To increase the effect of education, there must be the consultation room in out-patient department. 4. The meetings with the mothers with ill-child of the same illness have to be established and periodical education must be executed. 5. Audio-visual education programs like video tapes are needed to make use of waiting time for the medical treatment. 6. On-line consulting programs are needed.

The Effect of the 'Silver Consumer's Product Satisfaction and Knowledge on the Health Functional Consumer's Well-being (실버소비자의 건강기능 제품에 대한 만족과 지식이 웰빙에 미치는 영향)

  • On 1 July 2000, as the over-65 year-old population numbered 3,371,000 and accounted for over 7.1% of Korea's total population, an aging society was revealed. The over-65 percentage climbed to 11.0% by late 2010. A truly aged society is expected soon, by 2019. This aging society requires marketing research concerning the consumer behaviour and well-being of the elderly, because the 'silver generation' is emerging as a large part of the consumer market. The purpose of this study is to empirically analyse one effect among several satisfaction factors in the consuming cycle of various health functional products on consumer's well-being and the effect of product knowledge on the relationship between product satisfaction and well-being. To achieve this purpose, we established a research model after reviewing previous studies on product satisfaction, product knowledge, and consumer's well-being. The following hypotheses were developed from the research model. Hypothesis 1: When elderly consumers' satisfaction with health functional products increases, their well-being will increase. Hypothesis 2: The effect of their satisfaction with health functional products on their well-being will be strengthened according to the level of their knowledge of the products. Those hypotheses were tested by multiple and moderated regressions to the empirical data through a questionnaire survey. As a result, Hypothesis 1 was totally adopted, and Hypothesis 2 was only partially adopted. The study has many practical implications for well-being marketing. First, in order to heighten the elderly consumer's well-being, the level of his or her satisfaction with the health functional products has to be raised in every stage: during the acquisition, preparation, use, maintenance, and disposition of the consumption cycle. Moreover, promoting positive emotional experiences while diminishing negative ones requires effort because a consumer's well-being is made up of various needs. Second, the marketing of health functional products should be invigorated in order to raise the level of elderly consumers' knowledge of them. In other words, it is important to give them an expertise in the health functional products through different channels. A statistical analysis showed, however, that their knowledge has a decisive effect on only two satisfaction stages, preparation and maintenance. Nevertheless, this merely confirmed the intuitive assumption that the knowledge of health functional products is most relevant to their preparation and maintenance. In conclusion, this study is timely because few empirical studies exist on the relationships between silver consumer behaviour and well-being marketing. It contributes to our understanding of this subject by revealing the causality between the silver consumer's satisfaction and his or her well-being in the consumption cycle and by discovering the moderating influence of knowledge in that process.

The Mediating effect of Public Transportation Satisfaction on Body Mass Index according to Walking days in Korea middle aged (한국 중년의 대중교통 만족도에 따른 체질량지수에 대한 걷기 일수의 매개효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the mediating effects of walking days on body mass index (BMI) according to the public transportation satisfaction of middle aged Koreans aged 40-59 in Korea using the 2015 community health survey data. The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for provision of the neighborhood environment and support programs for the walking activity and promotion of daily walking activities among middle aged people. Among 228,558 individuals, 85,344 middle aged people aged 40-59 years were selected as final subjects for analysis. The data were analyzed with the open source statistics program R 3.4.1 to determine whether the number of walking days had a mediating effect on body mass index (BMI) as an independent variable. The Sobel test revealed that the number of walking days increased by B=0.010(p=.010), and that when the satisfaction with public transportation increased, B=-0.052 (p=.021), the number of walking days decreased by B=-0.038 (p=.001). To increase the number of walking days and decrease the body mass index by increasing public transportation satisfaction by increasing the use of public transportation, public transportation fare adequacy and access convenience among the public transportation satisfaction mentioned above should be improved more than the current level. It is not easy for individuals that live in small cities to reach their destination by public transportation after leaving the metropolitan area; therefore, improvement of public transportation systems is necessary to improve health.

A study on Career identity, Satisfaction in major, and Adjustment to college life for students of Department of Food and Nutrition at a University (일 대학 식품영양학과 학생의 진로정체감, 전공만족도 및 대학생활적응에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate relationships among career identity, satisfaction in major, and adjustment to college life for students who major in food and nutrition that is complex and has diversity of carrier and to serve as a guideline for career counselling and college life. After reliability and validity of the data collected were verified using IBM SPSS Statistics 22, difference in variables according to characteristics of students was examined using independent t-test, ANOVA, and chi-square test. The results showed that there was a positive correlation among career identity, satisfaction in major, and adjustment to college life and students who had prior knowledge of their major showed a higher level of career identity, satisfaction in major and adjustment to college life compared to those who did not. Therefore, it is suggested that guidance on Department of Food and Nutrition should be provided to students before they decide on their major for their increased satisfaction in major, smooth adjustment to college life, and career decision. With this data, we recognize the gravity of psychological factor and carrer consciousness may provide base data to practical use of student life and carrer guidance.
