This study proposes a parametric modeling method for efficient preliminary design of FCM(Free Cantilever Method) bridge. The method is capable of automatic fitting of cross section according to variation of span length of box girder which has variational section. Parameters for forming longitudinal geometry of box girder are defined, then implicit and explicit constraints, and functional relations among them are defined by applying statistics of parameters used in FCM bridge designs. The constraints and relations are applied to a sample bridge for verifying applicability of parametric modeling. In addition, material quantity of the sample model generated by parametric modeling is estimated and compared to the quantity of the real designed model to check the accuracy of the automatically designed parametric model.
The purpose of this study was to research on breast shape and size to suggest a brassiere sizing chart for elderly women. For this purpose 90 elderly women aged between 55 and 69 were sampled at random to review their breast types by age group, and thereby, suggest the basic measurements and production ratio of each brassiere size in reference to KS K 0070: 1999. The collected measurement data were processed statistically using the SPSS PC/WIN program for technical statistical analysis. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; 1. Analysis of Breast Measurements To find out difference among age groups, the 90 subjects were grouped into three(Group 1 ; aged 55 to 59, Group 2 ; aged 60 to 64, Group 3 ; aged 65 to 69). The results of the comparative analysis of anthropometric data from three groups show that getting older;- Various length measurements related to the drooping degree of breast were increased. It was found that the older group in their 65-69's had more drooping breasts than their 55-59's or 60-64's counterparts. Such findings suggests that older women's drooping can be corrected by a brassiere which serves to support the breasts. 2. Suggestions on a Brassiere Sizing For the basic measurements of brassiere parts for the elderly women, the correlation between underchest circumferences and cup sizes were analyzed. 3% or higher occurrences among the whole sample elderly women were included in the brassiere sizes. thus, the under-chest measurements were set at four intervals from 75 to 95, while the cup measurements were determined also at four intervals from "AAA" to "B" sizes. The resultant 6 sizes excluding the least frequent occurrences covered 73.2% of the sample elderly women actual breast sizes. As a consequence of reviewing the production ratio of each brassiere size for the women, it was found that the brassiere size of highest production ratio was "85A" (17.4%), followed by 80A (14.5%), 85AA 90A (10.1%) and 75A (8.7%) in their order.

Oxides of nitrogen play important roles in atmospheric chemistry. Soil has been recognized as a major natural source of NO, and its emission depends on soil parameters such as soil nitrogen availability, soil moisture and temperature. It is necessary to understand effects of these controlling parameters on soil NO emission. In order to understand soil moisture effects on NO emission, variations of NO concentration and existence of its equilibrium concentration were observed from ammonium fertilized Japanese upland soil prepared for different soil moisture conditions. The closed chamber technique was employed for this study. The significant increases in NO with soil moisture were found. Maximum was occurred at sample ID4 (55% of water-filled pore space (WFPS)), but it decreased as soil moisture increased. No significant NO concentration was emitted from soil sample without fertilizer, but there was significant NO in fertilized soil samples. The magnitudes of NO from soil increased with time and reached at steady state within ten minutes approximately. These results suggest that nitrogen input from fertilizer takes charge in the first step of sharp increase in NO emission, and then soil moisture becomes important factor to control NO emission from the soils. NO concentrations from soil were compared to those one-day after the experiment. Results from the comparison analysis suggest that the soil NO flux might have been stimulated by soil disturbances like mixing, and this is much more effective in dry soils rather than in wet soils. It was found that much less NO came out from soils after a day; suggesting that most of NO was released from the soils within a day after fertilizer application during our experiment. The length of NO releasing time span may depend on the amounts of fertilizer applied, soil moisture condition, and other soil physical parameters.
Borror et al. discussed the EWMA(Exponentially Weighted Moving Average) chart to monitor the count of defects which follows the Poisson distribution, referred to the $EWMA_c$ chart, as an alternative Shewhart c chart. In the $EWMA_c$ chart, the Markov chain approach is used to calculate the ARL (Average Run Length). On the other hand, in order to monitor the process fraction defectives P in high-yield processes, Xie et al. presented the CCC(Cumulative Count of Conforming)-r chart of which quality characteristic is the cumulative count of conforming item inspected until observing $r({\geq}2)$ nonconforming items. Furthermore, Ohta and Kusukawa presented the $CS(Confirmation Sample)_{CCC-r}$ chart as an alternative of the CCC-r chart. As a more superior chart in high-yield processes, in this paper we present an $EWMA_{CCC-r}$ chart to detect more sensitively small or moderate shifts in P than the $CS_{CCC-r}$ chart. The proposed $EWMA_{CCC-r}$ chart can be constructed by applying the designing method of the $EWMA_C$ chart to the CCC-r chart. ANOS(Average Number of Observations to Signal) of the proposed chart is compared with that of the $CS_{CCC-r}$ chart through computer simulation. It is demonstrated from numerical examples that the performance of proposed chart is more superior to the $CS_{CCC-r}$ chart.
The conformational transition of poly(L-proline) (PLP), Form Ⅱ → Form Ⅰ and the intermolecular aggregation of the product, Form Ⅰ, during and after the transition in water-propanol (1:7, 1:9, 1:15.7, and 1:29 v/v) were studied. For the study, the viscosity change and excess light scattering intensity were measured in the course of the transition which was determined by the Form Ⅰ fraction, fI of the sample solution. For the PLP sample of molecular weight Mv=31,000 the experimental results show that the reaction course is roughly divided into three regions: in the first region [fI=0.27 to 0.40 (- [α]D=400 to 330)], the conformational change of Form Ⅱ → Form Ⅰ occurs with decrease of viscosity, in the second region [fI=0.40 to 0.80 (- [α]D=330 to 120)], a partial side-by-side (p-S-S) type aggregation in which Form Ⅰ blocks interact with each other, which induces the increase of viscosity, starts to occur, and in the third region [fI=0.80 to 1.00 (- [α]D=120 to 15)], a side-by-side type (raft like) aggregation of Form Ⅰ or an end-to-end (E-E) type aggregation occurs according to the solvent situation, i.e., in a water-rich medium [water-propanol (1:9 or 1:7 v/v)], the (S-S) type aggregation with a gross decrease in viscosity occurs while in a water-poor medium [water-propanol (1:29 or 1:15.7 v/v), the (E-E) type aggregation with a large increase in viscosity occurs. The (S-S) type aggregation was promoted at high temperatures. Based on the structure of PLP, a reasonable mechanism for the (p-S-S) and (S-S) aggregation which occurs with the transition of Form Ⅱ → Form Ⅰ is considered. The suggested mechanism was also supported by the result of chain length effect of PLP for the aggregation.

Detergency and surface active properties of mixed anionic surfactants with amphoteric and nonionic were investigated. Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and ammonium dodecyl sulfate (ADS) as anionic surfactants and cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) as an amphoteric surfactant were used. Nonionic surfactants, which are butyl glucoside (BG), octyl glucoside (OG), decyl glucoside (DG), lauryl dimethylamine oxide (AO) and saponin were also used. To study the synergy effects of mixed SDS/ADS anionic surfactant systems, amphoteric and nonionic surfactants were added into the mixed anionic surfactants. Investigated properties of surfactant mixtures were critical micelle concentration (CMC), surface tension (${\gamma}$), wettability. In addition, based on these properties, detergency of each sample was examined. Surfactant mixtures are anionics (SDS/ADS), anionic/amphoteric/nonionic (SDS/ADS/CAPB/saponin), and anionic/nonionic (SDS/ADS/BG/saponin, SDS/ADS/OG/saponin, SDS/ADS/DG/saponin, and SDS/ADS/AO/saponin). With the addition of amphoteric and nonionic to mixed anionic surfactants, CMC and ${\gamma}$ were decreased. Addition of CAPB, which is amphoteric, showed the best property at CMC and ${\gamma}$. Furthermore, as the chain length of hydrocarbon in alkyl glucosides was increased, the CMC and ${\gamma}$ were enhanced. However, the wettability did not exactly match up with CMC and ${\gamma}$. The surfactant mixture, which contained DG, showed the best performance at wetting time. Detergency was measured at various temperatures ($15^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$). The cleaning performance was enhanced by increasing washing temperature. Moreover, detergency was influenced by not only CMC and ${\gamma}$ but also wettability. Although CMC and ${\gamma}$ were not minimum at surfactant mixture that included DG, the best cleaning performance showed in that sample.

We compared two different zooplankton data sets simultaneously obtained at the same place with different mesh-sized nets. Smaller mesh-sized net yielded less diverse zooplankton taxa. However, it was difficult to generalize the relationship between the size of the mesh of the net used and the length of the species list observed. It was not only because the sample sizes obtained by smaller mesh net were relatively smaller due to the clogging problem but also because smaller mesh net usually collected more tiny animals that were difficult to identify at lower taxonomic categories. In terms of abundances, on the other hand, the smaller and the larger mesh-sized nets collected smaller and larger-sized animals more effectively, respectively. The abundances of small sized animals were usually greater than those of large-sized animals by about an order of differences. Due to this different catchability of the nets, the community analyses based on Principal Component Analysis led to different results for the same community.

Many authors issued the feature-preserving averaging technique according to positioning and scaling process using landmarks, which represent the geometric characteristics of three dimensional surface models. Such a technique should be done by manual procedure, choosing and marking the landmarks on each bone surface before averaging process. In this study, we produced another averaging technique without having to use such manual procedure, and made averaging models from three dimensional surface data that were reconstructed from computerized tomography images of Digital Korean Project. The bone models were subjected to orthogonal coordinator system. These models were transformed to coincide mass center and to align principal axis. Then, bone models were scaled according to average length data of sample bone models on all axis(x, y, z). After establishing voxellar hexahedron space which contain all sample bone models, we counted the number of overlapping for each voxel. We generated the three dimensional average surface by displaying the yokels that have more overlapping number than boundary number. The boundary number was decided when the average volume of each bone equal to the volume of bone that would be averaged. Using this technique, we can make a feature-preserving averaging volume of bones.
The purpose of this study is to compared the length of working hours and its effects on family life for Korean and Japanese full-time working couples. For this study, the survey used structured questionnaires and time diaries(one weekday and holiday), and the data were collected in the fall of 1995. A subsample of full-time working couples, 82 couples from Seoul and 79 couples from Tokyo, was used for the purpose of this study. The major findings are as follows; 1) On average, the weekday working hours of Korean husbands were longer than Japanese husbands(11 hours 31 minute, 10 hours 52 minutes a day, respectively). Wives in both countries worked almost identical lengths of time (9 hours 2 minutes in Korea and 8 hours 42 minutes in Japan). Working hours of husbands were longer than those of wives in both countries. Husbands' overtime. Almost (90%) of our Korea sample worked 6 days or 5 1/2 days per week, however the majority (69%) of our Japanese sample worked only 5 days per eek. 2) More Korean husbands and wives reported that their family life was constrained by wives working hours than their Japanese counterparts did. 3) All wives in both countries reported that the husbands long working hours has effects on quality family time. Korean wives perceived that their working hours had effects on time spent on child care, however Japanese wives perceived that their working hours affected their personal time and housework time. Korean husbands agreed with their wives working hours negatively affected their personal leisure time. Japanese husbands reported that their working hours negatively affected their sleeping time.
The purpose of this study is to examine mediating effects of social adaptation on the relationship between employment status and mental health in a sample of marriage immigrant women. Social adaptation was assessed with Korean proficiency and the length of residence in Korea. Participants comprised of a total of 247 marriage immigrant women who reside in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi-Do. The data were analyzed by the PASW Statistics 18.0 and the AMOS 18.0 software. The results showed that the social adaptation was a full mediator of the relationship between employment status and mental health. It is plausible to state that employment status may enhance social adaptation, which in turn improve mental health among marriage immigrant women. The implication of our findings is that as employment and social adaptation are important elements of mental health among the marriage immigrate women, education and social support system regarding these antecedent factors should be implemented.
