A New Approach to an Inventory with Constant Demand

  • An inventory with constant demand is studied. We adopt a renewal argument to obtain the transient and stationary distribution of the level of the inventory. We show that the stationary distribution can be also derived by making use of either the level crossing technique or the renewal reward theorem. After assigning several managing costs to the inventory, we calculate the long-run average cost per unit time. A numerical example is illustrated to show how we optimize the inventory.

  • This paper presents the maximum-power control simulation for PMA-SynRM. For maximum power, the maximum torque / current control method is conducted in constant-torque range and flux-weakening control method is conducted in constant-power range. For considering the nonlinear characteristics of inductance, machine constant is determined by FEM. Finally, experiment is conducted to calculate the efficiency.

DLP 프린터로 제작한 상악 및 하악 의치상의 항온수조 침적에 따른 진실도(trueness) 평가 (Evaluation of trueness of maxillary and mandibular denture bases produced with a DLP printer by immersion in a constant temperature water bath)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the three-dimensional trueness of upper and lower denture bases produced using a digital light processing (DLP) printer and immersed in a constant-temperature water bath. Methods: An edentulous model was prepared and fitted with denture bases and occlusal rims manufactured using base plate wax. After scanning the model, denture bases, and occlusal rims, complete denture designs were created. Using the designs and a DLP printer, 10 upper and 10 lower complete dentures were manufactured. Each denture was scanned before (impression surface of upper denture base before constant temperature water bath [UBC] and impression surface of lower denture base before constant temperature water bath [LBC] groups) and after (impression surface of upper denture base after constant temperature water bath [UAC] and impression surface of lower denture base after constant temperature water bath [LAC] groups) immersion in the constant-temperature water bath. Scanned files were analyzed by comparing reference and scanned data, with statistical analysis conducted using the Kruskal-Wallis test (α=0.05). Results: Statistical analysis revealed no significant differences between the UBC and LBC groups, nor between the UAC and LAC groups (p>0.05). However, significant differences were observed between the UBC and UAC groups and between the LBC and LAC groups, i.e., before and after the constant-temperature water bath for both maxillary and mandibular denture bases (p<0.05). Conclusion: Denture bases not immersed in the constant-temperature water bath (UBC and LBC groups) exhibited error values within 100 ㎛, whereas those immersed in the water bath (UAC and LAC groups) showed error values exceeding 100 ㎛.

  • Frictional laws are criticized with emphasis on their application to bulk metal forming simulation in this paper. Coulomb frictional law and constant shear frictional law are investigated in detail in terms of their effect on metal forming process. A friction sensitive bulk metal forming process, a long-pipe simultaneously shrinking and expanding process, is introduced and the problems of the constant shear frictional law are revealed comparing the predictions obtained by the Coulomb frictional law and the constant shear frictional law with the experiments. It is shown that the constant shear frictional law is improper in the case that the normal stress varies very much from position to position and that the normal stress is low compared with flow stress of the adjacent material. It is also shown that the Coulomb frictional constant is more or less affected by the normal stress.

일정변형률(CRS) 시험에서의 압밀특성 (Consolidation Characteristics at the Constant Rate of Strain(CRS) Test)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the consolidation characteristics of the remolded clay by the oedometer and the constant rate of strain(CRS) consolidation tests. As the rate of strain increases, the settlement rapidly decreased. As the ratio of the sand in the specimen increases, its effect on the rate of strain to the settlement was reduced. As the effective stress increased, the void ratio decreased, while the rate of strain increased, it did not show a clear variation. The reduction of the void ratio was shown to be less than the oedometer test. The coefficient of vertical consolidation with effective stress showed very large variation around preconsolidation stress, but the rate of strain did not provide significant effects. The rate of strain with effective stress gradually decreased at all tests and mixed ratio of sand. The rate of strain at the constant rate of strain tests showed smaller than in the oedometer test. The coefficient of consolidation at the constant rate of strain tests showed much more increase than in the oedometer test. The ratio of the vertical coefficient of consolidation by the odometer and the constant rate of strain tests showed a large difference according to various tests method and mixing ratio. Therefore, it is recommended that careful attention should be paid to designing the soft ground improvement.

Can be the dielectric constant of thin films as-grown at room temperature higher than that of its bulk material?

  • The $Bi_2Mg_{2/3}Nb_{4/3}O_7$ (BMNO)-Bi composite films sandwiched by an $Al_2O_3$ protection layer exhibited a linear increase of a dielectric constant with increasing thickness and the 1000nm-thick BMNO-Bi composite films showed a dielectric constant (~220) higher than that of its bulk material (~210), keeping a low leakage current density of about $0.1{\mu}A/cm^2$. An enhancement of the dielectric constant in the BMNO-Bi composite films was attributed to the hybrid model combined by a space charge polarization, dipolar response, and nano-capacitors. On the other hand, 1000nm-thick BMNO-Bi composite films sandwiched by 40nm-thick BMNO layer exhibited a dielectric constant of about 450 at 100 kHz and a leakage current density of $0.1{\mu}A/cm^2$ at 6V.

The Change of Dielectric Constant and Leakage Current of PVA (polyvinyl alchol) by Increasing Temperature and Concentration

  • The performance of PVA(polyvinyl alchol) is better than another organic dielectric material. Therefore, PVA has been researched for organic and in-organic dielectric material. But research of changing PVA's dielectric constant and leakage current by increasing temperature and concentration was insigificant. We try to find pure PVA and cross-linked PVA's characteristic of dielectric by changing temperature and concentration. 5/10/15wt% PVA concentration (5% interval) was in progress, PVA at $100/150/200/250^{\circ}C$ ($50^{\circ}C$ interval) of experiments was conducted in relation to temperature. The higher the concentration, leakage currents decrease, and dielectric constant is increased. With regard to temperature, we could not see a big change of leakage current and dielectric constant of pure PVA until $200^{\circ}C$. However, we could see a tendency to increase significantly at $250^{\circ}C$. Also, leakage current and dielectric constant of cross-linked PVA gradually increased from at $100^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$ and then sharply increased from at $250^{\circ}C$. We tried to find that PVA's inner bonds(hydroxyl group (OH-) lead to the results.

  • 전단하중을 받는 암반의 전단특성은 절리면의 구조적인 특징뿐만 아니라 암반 주변의 경계조건에 의해서도 영향을 받는다. 암반블록의 경계조건은 절리면이 받고 있는 응력상태를 기준으로 4가지로 구분할 수 있다. 일반적으로 주로 사용되는 CNL 조건의 전단시험에서 얻어지는 전단강도는 다른 경계조건에서 얻어지는 것보다 낮은 전단강도를 나타내며 그 거동도 다른 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 일정수직하중(CNL) 시험결과를 정규화한 그래픽 방법을 이용하여 일정수직강성(CNS) 조건의 전단거동을 모사할 수 있었다.

등하중지지대의 캠 윤곽 설계 (Design of Cam Contour for Constant Hangers)

  • 등하중지지대는 플랜트의 배관을 지지하는 장치로서 열팽창으로 인하여 배관이 움직이더라도 배관에 일정한 힘을 제공하는 역할을 한다. 본 논문에서는 등하중지지대의 캠 윤곽을 설계하는 방법을 제안하였다. 캠의 윤곽은 캠의 기하학적 관계식, 부하 튜브의 힘 평형식, 보조스프링의 압축력과 캠의 회전각 사이의 관계식, 그리고 캠의 모멘트 평형식을 만족하여야 함을 보였고, 이 방정식들을 연립하여 푸는 계산 과정을 제안하였다. 이 계산 과정을 사용하여 요구하는 조건을 만족하는 등하중지지대의 캠을 설계하였다.

Computer Simulation of Deformation in a Rubber Boots for Translation and Rotation of CV-joint for Automobile

  • Automobile industry, along with the automobile steering system, is rapidly changing and developing. The constant velocity joint transmits power to the wheels of vehicles without changing their angular velocity based on the movement of the steering wheel. Moreover, it controls their movement to act as a buffer. In order to prevent the excessive increase in temperature caused by the movement of vehicles, boots are attached to the constant velocity joint and lubricant is injected into the boots. The boots maintain the lubrication and protect the constant velocity joint from sand, water, and so on. As the wheels of the vehicle rotate, the boots are acted upon by forces such as bending, compression, and tension. Additionally, self-contact occurs to boots. Therefore, their durability deteriorates over time. To prevent this problem, polychloroprene rubber was initially used however, it was replaced by thermoplastic polyester elastomers due to their excellent fatigue durability. In this study, the structural analysis of boots was conducted. The results showed the deformation patterns of the boots based on the translation and rotation of the constant velocity joint. Moreover, it confirmed the location that was vulnerable to deformation. This study can be used to potentially design high-quality constant velocity joint boots.
