The bulb storability of eight red and ten yellow onion (Allium cepa L.) cultivars grown primarily in Korea was evaluated. During storage, sprouting occurred earlier in red cultivars than in yellow cultivars. In addition, the ratio of sprouted to unsprouted bulbs increased more rapidly in red cultivars than in yellow cultivars. However, not all yellow cultivars had strong storabilities. Bulb storability of three yellow cultivars was as poor as that of red cultivars, suggesting only a slight possibility of a pleiotropic effect of color and bulb storability. Meanwhile, $F_3$ lines of a red cultivar selected based on stronger storabilities showed intermediate storabilities between those of the red and yellow cultivars, implying that strong storability could be obtained by successive selection. In contrast, $F_1$ hybrids from crosses between yellow and red breeding lines showed poor storability compared with the yellow cultivars, indicating that poor storability may be dominant over strong storability. The relationships between color and other traits that potentially affect storability, such as fresh and dry weight, water content, and firmness of bulbs, were evaluated. No significant differences in these traits were observed between the two colors, although the water content of yellow cultivars and the dry weight of red cultivars were slightly higher than their counterparts. Correlation analyses between bulb storability and other traits, including weight, water content, and firmness, also showed no significant correlations. In this study, no correlations were identified between bulb color, storability, and other traits. However, based on these results, red cultivars with stronger storabilities could be developed through successive selection of bulbs with stronger storabilities.
RAM analysis determines the range of resources to be invested by presenting the development goals of the weapon system. If the RAM analysis is not performed properly, it can cause a huge increase in business costs. While the cumulative cost ratio in the concept study is less than 1% of the total cost, 65-70% of the total lifecycle cost is determined and can't be reduced later. Therefore, RAM analysis is crucial in precedent study. When calculating the target RAM value by writing an existing OMS/MP, new functions and the future missions are hardly considered and reflected. Therefore, this paper proposes a method to establish OMS/MP by deriving arguments based on Delphi and Bayesian theory focusing on unmanned combat vehicle.

In these days, demand for agile spacecraft is gradually increasing, due to the fact that agile spacecraft can improve mission capability. In this paper, an attitude control logic based on reaction wheels that can enhance agility of spacecraft is proposed. Three methods are suggested, and all three or part of them can be integrated to the existing attitude control system. First, a feedforward/feedback controller is introduced, and its pros and cons are provided, compared to the conventional feedback controller. Second, an attitude command generation method that fully utilizes torque/momentum capacities of reaction wheels is proposed. Third, a torque (current) control mode for internal wheel control is introduced. Numerical results verify that the settling time can be significantly reduced by employing the feedforward/feedback control method, especially for large angle maneuver.

Attitude control modeling and simulation (M&S) can be extensively applied in overall development process, from simple algorithm design to on-board software verification. This paper introduces CMG-based attitude control M&S software, which consists of 6-DOF modeling (CMG and space environments modeling), and attitude control algorithm. The M&S software is divided into three modules, from an inner CMG motor control module to an outer earth observation mission module. While an application of this developed software is currently limited to the initial-phase attitude controller development, its application area can be extended to the later-phases by considering sophisticated model information in future.

Recently, the real estate is of high interest. This is because real estate, which was considered only a residential environment in the past, is recognized as a stable investment target due to the ever-growing demand on it. In particular, in the case of the domestic market, despite the decrease in the number of people, the number of single-person households and the influx of people to large cities are accelerating, and real estate prices are rising sharply around the metropolitan area. Therefore, accurately predicting the prospects of the future real estate market becomes a very important issue not only for individual asset management but also for government policy establishment. In this paper, we developed a program to predict future real estate market prices by learning past real estate sales data using machine learning techniques. The data on the market price of real estate provided by the Korea Appraisal Board and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport were used, and the average sales price forecast for 2022 by region is presented. The developed program is publicly available so that it could be used in various forms.

In Mt. Halla, an arctic-alpine plant Diapensia lapponica var. obovata largely clings to rock surfaces. We observed the rock-surface temperatures of a rocky ridge on the summit area of the mountain from late April 2009 to early May 2010 in order to examine the diurnal and annual temperature variations and the thermal amplitude. We also investigated temperature regimes such as the frequency of freeze-thaw cycles and the temperature change, which might endanger the habitat through frost weathering. For comparison of slope aspects, temperature monitoring was carried out on the north and south faces of the same rocky ridge. The south face experiences the high daily maximum rock-surface temperatures and the high thermal amplitudes during the unfreezing season of May to November 2009. The temperature regimes are considered to exert physiological stress to the arctic-alpine plant. In addition, the south face shows the high frequency of freeze-thaw cycles during the seasonal freezing period of December 2009 to April 2010. This indicates that the south face is susceptible the exfoliation and granular disintegration of rock surfaces, which results in habitat destruction. As a consequence, the south face is believed to be less favorable for the establishment and growth of the arctic-alpine plant than the north face on the summit area of Mt. Halla.
In wartime conditions, the communication system of military aircraft is exposed to jamming, and it is necessary to mount communication equipment with high anti-jamming performance in order to perform air operations smoothly even in an environment where jamming attempts are made. In this paper, we check in detail the jamming and anti-jamming technology that can be applied to wireless communication, and the data disclosed on the difference in specifications of the next-generation anti-jamming radio with frequency hopping method and the improvement of anti-jamming performance according to these changes. It was briefly analyzed within the scope. In addition, the points to be considered when designing a new domestic aircraft and the possibility of installing the next-generation anti-jamming communication equipment on the currently operating aircraft were confirmed, and the tactical usefulness of improving the anti-jamming capability of the next-generation anti-jamming communication equipment was confirmed.
Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is known to induce apoptosis of host immune cells and impair phagocytic clearance, thereby being pivotal in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis (AD). Adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) exert therapeutic effects against inflammatory and immune diseases. In the present study, we investigated whether systemic administration of ASCs restores the phagocytic activity of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and decolonizes cutaneous S. aureus under AD conditions. AD was induced by injecting capsaicin into neonatal rat pups. ASCs were extracted from the subcutaneous adipose tissues of naïve rats and administered to AD rats once a week for a month. Systemic administration of ASCs ameliorated AD-like symptoms, such as dermatitis scores, serum IgE, IFN-γ+/IL-4+ cell ratio, and skin colonization by S. aureus in AD rats. Increased FasL mRNA and annexin V+/7-AAD+ cells in the PBMCs obtained from AD rats were drastically reversed when co-cultured with ASCs. In contrast, both PBMCs and CD163+ cells bearing fluorescent zymosan particles significantly increased in AD rats treated with ASCs. Additionally, the administration of ASCs led to an increase in the mRNA levels of antimicrobial peptides, such as cathelicidin and β-defensin, in the skin of AD rats. Our results demonstrate that systemic administration of ASCs led to decolonization of S. aureus by attenuating apoptosis of immune cells in addition to restoring phagocytic activity. This contributes to the improvement of skin conditions in AD rats. Therefore, administration of ASCs may be helpful in the treatment of patients with intractable AD.

Buoys used for Aid to Navigation systems are widely used to guide the sea paths and are powered by batteries, requiring continuous battery replacement. However, since human labor is required to replace the batteries, humans can be exposed to dangerous situation, including even collision with shipping vessels. In addition, Maritime sensors are installed on the route signs, so that these are often damaged by collisions with small and medium-sized ships, resulting in significant financial loss. In order to prevent these accidents, maritime object detection technology is essential to alert ships approaching buoys. Existing studies apply a number of filters to eliminate noise and to detect objects within the sea image. For this process, most studies directly access the pixels and process the images. However, this approach typically takes a long time to process because of its complexity and the requirements of significant amounts of computational power. In an emergent situation, it is important to alarm the vessel's rapid approach to buoys in real time to avoid collisions between vessels and route signs, therefore minimizing computation and speeding up processes are critical operations. Therefore, we propose Fast Connected Component Labeling (FCCL) which can reduce computation to minimize the processing time of filter applications, while maintaining the detection performance of existing methods. The results show that the detection performance of the FCCL is close to 30 FPS - approximately 2-5 times faster, when compared to the existing methods - while the average throughput is the same as existing methods.

The Joint Coastal Guard System is composed of a maritime surveillance system and a anti-coastal infiltration system, and is a system in which the Navy is mainly responsible for the maritime and the Army is responsible for the coast. We analyzed the operations effectiveness of the joint coastal guard system, in which various weapon systems of the army and navy are operated in a complex way, to the extent to which successful operation is possible against small targets. The operations effectiveness analysis was conducted by defining the operations effectiveness by operation type, configuring the simulation environment using METT-T elements, establishing the assumptions of the simulation scenario, conducting the simulation and analyzing the simulation results by weather condition. The simulation tools used were NORAM and EADSIM. As a result of the operations effectiveness analysis, the joint coastal guard system currently in operation showed a significant difference in operational success depending on the size of the target and weather conditions. This research can be used as useful data for establishing an effective joint coastal guard system and conducting systematic guard operations.
