Anti-inflammatory Effects of Sam-chul-kun-bi-tang

  • Objective: To derive information on the efficacy of Sam-chul-kun-bi-tang (SKT), by evaluating its anti-inflammatory effect. SKT is a widely-used herbal formula in traditional Korean medicine. In man y studies, plant-derived anti-inflammatory efficacies have been investigated for their potential inhibitory effects on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages. This study was performed to examine the anti-inflammatory effects of SKT extract on LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Methods: The production of nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin $(PG)E_2$, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-$\alpha$ and interleukin (IL)-6 were examined in a macrophage cell line, RAW 264.7 cells, in the presence of SKT. RAW 264.7 cells were incubated with LPS 1 ${\mu}g/mL$ and SKT for 18 hrs. The anti-inflammatory activity of SKT was investigated by carrageenan-induced paw edema in rats. The paw volume was measured at 2 and 4 hrs following carrageenan-induced paw edema in rats. Results: SKT showed inhibitory effect on $PGE_2$, TNF-$\alpha$ and IL-6 in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. But SKT was not inhibitory effect on NO by LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Administration of SKT (1 g/kg) also showed a reduction in carrageenan-induced paw edema on rats. Conclusion: These results suggest that SKT has anti-inflammatory activities in both in vitro and in vivo models.

  • Hyperspectral image data have great potential to depict more detailed information on biophysical characteristics of surface materials, which are not usually available with multispectral data. This study aims to test the potential of hyperspectral data for classifying five soil classes defined by the vector product interim terrain data (VITD). In this study, we try to classify surface materials of bare soil over the study area in Korea using both hyperspectral and multispectral image data. Training and test samples for classification are selected with using VITD vector map. The spectral angle mapper (SAM) method is applied to the EO-I Hyperion data and Landsat ETM+ data, that has been radiometrically corrected and geo-rectified. Higher classification accuracy is obtained with the hyperspectral data for classifying five soil classes of gravel, evaporites, inorganic silt and sand.

  • Passivation 막이 증착될 때 산화물 반도체의 백 인터페이스에 주는 플라즈마 데미지와 화학적으로 유도된 데미지를 최소화하기 위하여 산화물 반도체의 보호막으로서 자가조립단분자막(SAM) 적용을 제안한다. TFT가 PECVD나 용액을 기반으로 한 재료로 passivation 될 때 산화물 반도체의 back interface는 플라즈마 데미지와 화학적으로 유도되는 데미지를 피할 수 없다. 자가조립단분자막을 적용함으로써 플라즈마 데미지를 막아줌으로써 이동도와 문턱전압 이하에서의 기울기(SS)의 열화와 용액을 기반으로 한 passivation으로 인한 특성변화(Von)를 최소화 하였다.

  • Piezoelectric Actuator samples were fabricated using PMN-PT-PZ ceramics with Barium substitution, and the strain properties of them were investigated. The tartest Piezoelectric coefficient and electromechanical coupling coefficient were observed at the sintering temperature $1250^{\circ}C$, Barium 5mol%. In the case of Multilayered specimens, they showed considerable strain and small hysteresis than single round type.
