  • This paper proposes the receding horizon $H_{\infty}$ predictive control (RHHPC) for systems with a state-delay. We first proposes a new cost function for a finite horizon dynamic game problem. The proposed cost function includes two terminal weighting terns, each of which is parameterized by a positive definite matrix, called a terminal weighting matrix. Secondly, we derive the RHHPC from the solution to the finite dynamic game problem. Thirdly, we propose an LMI condition under which the saddle point value satisfies the well-known nonincreasing monotonicity. Finally, we shows the asymptotic stability and $H_{\infty}$-norm boundedness of the closed-loop system controlled by the proposed RHHPC. Through a numerical example, we show that the proposed RHHC is stabilizing and satisfies the infinite horizon $H_{\infty}$-norm bound.

  • In this paper, a SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) method using a single camera and planar fiducial markers is proposed. Fiducial markers are planar patterns that are mounted on the ceiling or wall. Each fiducial marker has a unique hi-tonal identification pattern with square outlines. It can be printed on paper to reduce cost or it can be painted using retro-reflective paint in order to make invisible and prevent undesirable visual effects. Existing localization methods using artificial landmarks have the disadvantage that landmark locations must be known a priori. In contrast, the proposed method can build a map and estimate robot location even if landmark locations are not known a priori. Hence, it reduces installation time and setup cost. The proposed method works good even when only one fiducial marker is seen at a scene. We perform computer simulation to evaluate proposed method.

  • Mitochondria participate in various intracellular metabolic pathways such as generating intracellular ATP, synthesizing several essential molecules, regulating calcium homeostasis, and producing the cell's reactive oxygen species (ROS). Emerging studies have demonstrated newly discovered roles of mitochondria, which participate in the regulation of innate immune responses by modulating NLRP3 inflammasomes. Here, we review the recently proposed pathways to be involved in mitochondria-mediated regulation of inflammasome activation and inflammation: 1) mitochondrial ROS, 2) calcium mobilization, 3) nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide ($NAD^+$) reduction, 4) cardiolipin, 5) mitofusin, 6) mitochondrial DNA, 7) mitochondrial antiviral signaling protein. Furthermore, we highlight the significance of mitophagy as a negative regulator of mitochondrial damage and NLRP3 inflammasome activation, as potentially helpful therapeutic approaches which could potentially address uncontrolled inflammation.

  • In the oral cavity, complex microbial community is shaped by various host and environmental factors. Extensive literature describing the oral microbiome in the context of oral health and disease is available. Advances in DNA sequencing technologies and data analysis have drastically improved the analysis of the oral microbiome. For microbiome study, bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA gene amplification and sequencing is often employed owing to the cost-effective and fast nature of the method. In this review, practical considerations for performing a microbiome study, including experimental design, molecular analysis technology, and general data analysis, will be discussed.

  • An uncommon case of a patient with recurrent mandibular ameloblastoma involving various adjacent soft tissues is presented with plain film radiography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and bone scan. The tumor involved mandible and eroded several bones including foramen ovale. This case shows that although an ameloblastoma primarily affect mandible, exact radiographic evaluation of tumor extent will assist the surgeon in the progress of rational approaches to the management of ameloblastoma.

  • This article is intended to investigate how the Japanese consumers have changed the country image on Korea, the evaluation toward products manufactured by Korea and the willingness to buy Korean products through the experience of Korean Wave. So the country image, the evaluation and the willingness were compared between the before and after experiencing Korean Wave The empirical result said that during the span of Korean Wave the country image and the evaluation have improved, but the intentions to purchase Korean products are still not positive in Japan. So an additional analysis was made to find the reason of the unwillingness to buy Korean products. Although they regard Korean products as qualitatively good against price, they seldom know Korean brand, hardly watch korean product's advertisement. Especially the intentions to purchase Korean products in durable goods was lower than in consuming goods.

  • Although there are many efficient techniques to minimize the speed gap between processor and the memory, it remains a bottleneck for various commercial implementations. Since secondary memory technologies are much slower than main memory, it is challenging to match memory speed to the processor. Usually, hard disk drives include semiconductor caches to improve their performance. A hit in the disk cache eliminates the mechanical seek time and rotational latency. To further improve performance a divided disk cache, subdivided between metadata and data, has been proposed previously. We propose a new algorithm to apply the SSD that is flash memory-based solid state drive by applying FTL. First, this paper evaluates the performance of such a disk cache via simulations using DiskSim. Then, we perform an experiment to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents an background edge generation based automatic algorithm for detection of moving objects under moving camera. Background image is generated by rotating the fixed the camera on the tripod horizontally, aligning and reorganizing this images. We develop an efficient approach for robust panoramic background edge generation as well as method of edge matching between input image and background image. We applied the proposed algorithm to real image sequences. The proposed method can be successfully realized in various monitoring systems like intrusion detection as well as video surveillance.
