The Effects of Fruit and Vegetable Bark Extract on Learning Ability and Memory Improvement (과채류껍질 추출물의 학습능력수행 및 기억력증진에 미치는 효과)

  • In the present study, we assessed the effecs of fruit and vegetable bark resources rich in beneficial substances on the learning ability and memory improvement. It functions to inhibit the activity of acetylcholinesterase in brain tissue and improve cognitive functions in a simulation model of cognitive impairment induced by scopolamine. Hence, it can promote memory and learning ability. The formulation of the fruit and vegetable bark uses the extract of fruit and vegetable peels, which has long been used without causing toxicity in a wide range of food applications. Therefore, it can be used safely without a risk of side effects, even in the case of a long-term administration for the preventive purpose. Furthermore, the present study is a very beneficial study in the environment-friendly aspect in association with recycling of resources as it is based on the novel efficacies of fruit and vegetable barks which have been conventionally disposed as a refuse of fruits due to their poor sensory qualities despite the content of beneficial substances.

  • In the information-oriented society, the paradigm of education has changed from the existing traditional teaching-centered education to the learning-centered education. In the Web-based Learning System which an learning-centered educational environment using the internet, students should have responsibility of their learning as taking more opportunities to participate their learning positively, to control their process of learning and to evaluate their learning by themselves to improve self-directed loaming ability. In this paper, the Web-based Learning System with a Self-Study Plan to lead students to select own purposes and methods of the study and write a self_evaluation is developed. The Self-Study Plan is a guide to lead the process, an order to have an individualized study and a report to evaluate own study. In addition, the suggested System is designed through object-oriented method using the extension mechanism of UML to archive the improvement of reuse and maintenance.

Study of the relationship between class satisfaction and self-directed learning with in person and on-line classes: focused on the major classes of the department of dental technician of K university (대면수업과 온라인수업에 따른 수업 만족도와 자기주도 학습능력의 관계: K 대학 치기공학과 전공과목을 대상으로)

  • Purpose: The study aims to analyze differences in the satisfaction level of dental technology students regarding in-person and online classes. It also aims to provide fundamental resources for the improvement of major subject class methods that will improve students' self-directed learning abilities, thereby affecting their class satisfaction. Methods: In this study, a self-administered questionnaire was conducted from November 8 to November 30, 2021, for 256 dental technology students. The collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 21.0 statistical program. Frequency and percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, post-hoc test, correlation analysis, and linear regression analysis were performed to analyze the data. Results: In the self-directed learning abilities, the attitude of the learners was shown to have the highest positive (+) correlation in both in-person and online classes, with a statistically significant effect (p<0.001) on class satisfaction in major subject classes. Moreover, the explanatory power of the model was 52.2% and 39.7%, respectively. Conclusion: We concluded from the study that there is a need for professors to improve teaching methods to increase learners' self-directed learning competence, through problem-based learning, discussion learning, team-based collaborative learning, and mentor-mentee learning, thereby enabling learners to lead classes themselves.

The Learning Styles and Curriculum for Environmental Experience-Based Learning in Classroom of the Small Scale (소규모 학급의 환경 체험 학습을 위한 학습 유형화와 그 교육 과정)

  • The purpose of this study is to enhance elementary students' awareness of environment-friendly life and help them to prepare for a better life in the future. To achieve this purpose we examined the effect typical environmental experience-based learning activities, which were based on the local circumstances with high environmental-educational potential, have on the attitudes toward environment-friendly life. This study was carried out on the basis of typical environmental experience-based learning in the small class size. The research group used was composed of one sixth grade elementary school class called Sangroksu, whose total students were 9. The research period lasted from March 2005 to February 2006. To analyze the result of this study, two research methods were applied simultaneously : quantitative research methods and qualitative research methods. Especially statistical analysis in quantitative research methods by self-administrated questionnaire was done with SAS program. Qualitative research methods were analyzed in a cyclic pattern, including the processes of domain analysis, classification analysis, and factor analysis which continued to be associated with data-collecting methods. This research shows the following results. First of all, students have shown meaningful differences after typical environmental experience-based learning activities.(p<.05). Followings are fields of the differences - students‘ interest on the subject, their understanding levels of necessity for basic environmental facilities around us as well as for the kinds of environmental experience-based learning, awareness levels of various environmental problems, consciousness on environment conservation, and the practicing ability of environment - friendly lifestyles. Secondly, We have discovered improvements in the following fields after this study - the knowledge and understanding levels on our environment and human relationships, students' fundamental abilities to work out environmental problems, right ideas and appropriate attitudes on environment protection, the practicing ability of environment-friendly life styles, and their parents' understanding levels on the education related to environment. In conclusion, typical environmental experience-based learning activities have a positive effect on the improvement of elementary school students' environment-friendly life styles.

  • This study was to investigate the effects of the sensory-motor training program childhood body concept and to investigate the difference between the control group and experimental group. Subjects of the study were compared with children whose age varied from three to four years old, where I.Q was over 100. The major things of this study was as follows, First, sensory-motor training program was effective with regards to body concept improvement among the three-, four-year-old children. Second, both the experimental group trained by sensory-motor program and the control group trained by cognitive-perceptual training program were revealed a meaningful performance. But, sensory-motor program offering subcognitive sensory body experiences yielded higher mean gains in scores than a cognitive-perceptual program. Sensory-motor learning is more effective than verbal learning is promoting body concept reflected in the ability to draw human figures.

  • The purpose of this research is to study the effectiveness of applying Information technology to education, so-called education informatization. Education informatiantion consists of building information infrastructure, educational course operation and improvement of the teacher's ICT ( Information and Communication Technology) ability to consolidate and teach educational information development and diffusion. In this study, we've studied the effects of the use of IT on the improvement of student's class Participation and understanding level, We set the hypotheses and tested them. A method of teaching and learning using IT influences the degree of class participation. Educational courses and a method of teaching and learning have been proved to affect the understanding of a lecture. Also, we validated the educational effectiveness on the educational course and class teaching by setting WIS (Weighted least square) on the IT utilization time.

  • The purposes of this study were to develop a program utilizing learning strategies for underachieving middle school students in science and to identify the effectiveness of the program on the ability of using learning strategies and the improvement of science academic achievement. For this study, we developed the program of learning strategies consisting of eleven consecutive lesson plans focusing on the content of 2009 revised national science curriculum and applied the program to three underachieving students in science of 7th grade, who have weaker learning strategies that can be used for science study than other underachievers. After treatments, we analyzed the effectiveness of this program through science learning strategy tests, overall assessments, student-activity sheets, research logs, learning-transcription details, analysis of interviews with students, and observation of classes. According to this study, the enhancement of the ability of using learning strategies was limited because it was difficult for the students to change their fossilized strategies. On the other hand, their overall academic performance was considerably improved since the students became interested in studying science drawing on the learning strategies. Therefore, the program of learning strategies had a positive effect on improving the science underachievers' ability of using learning strategies and academic achievements.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a TBL program in the nursing Hematopoietic disorder in adult nursing, to apply nursing students to confirm the effects of academic self - efficacy, learning attitude and learning satisfaction and attempts have been made to identify perceptions of team-based learning. The study was conducted as a one-group pre-post test design study, and was conducted after the TBL class for the in the nursing students 3grade at B city from April 5 to May 17, 2018. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. The results of this study showed that the improvement of both academic self-efficacy, learning attitude, and learning satisfaction after team-based learning showed statistically significant difference, and the participants' perception of TBL was positive. Therefore, it is suggested that if the TBL is actively extended to nursing education, it will contribute not only to the improvement of self-directed learning ability but also to the quality of nursing education and I suggest to research later in comparison with other teaching methods.

  • Today, It has developed actively e-learning according to web without time and place which increase of PC user with super-highway information network and various up-to-date information rapid growth. It has to provide the chance to student which will be able to practice and to think free and originative under liberal learning environment that learner can compose knowledge through various thinking by themselves. From the present paper, I would design e-learning system using TGT model of cooperative e-learning system that more effective studying through advantage of e-learning studying. I look forward to helping improvement of student's real ability as embody competitive games method by TGT model's basic theory of web-based.

The Importance of Learning Language and Culture Integration: Focused on TOEIC Reading Comprehension

  • This study examines the importance of learning language and cultural integration in general English class focused on TOEIC reading comprehension. The understanding of cultural learning and learners' cultural awareness has long been a subject of debate. This study was not only to analyze the improvement of students' interest and reading comprehension ability of TOEIC through cultural learning, but also to ensure students who learn American culture overcome cross-cultural miscommunication and improve their English reading comprehension skills. Pre-post surveys and the pre-post TOEIC tests were used to measure language proficiency and American cultural knowledge to two groups: the experimental and control group. The results from the study were as follows: First, students had better TOEIC scores with improved motivation after understanding American culture relevant to the lessons. Second, reading comprehension skills with regards to TOEIC also improved, compared with the students who were not exposed to American culture due to lack of opportunity.
