Analysis of Drag Force on Leading car using CFD (수치해석을 통한 철도차량 전두부의 공기저항 해석)

  • The optimal design for a leading car considering the aerodynamic resistance is required on the high-speed train due to increasing of ratio of drag force with proportion for the square of velocity. The aerodynamic analysis using CFD in the stage of concept design offers more economical analysis method which is used to estimate the influence of flow and pressure around the leading car than the experimental method using the Mock-up. In this study, we want to assist the artistic design with aerodynamics analysis in order to get the optimal design for leading car with the operation speed of 180km/h. The results of aerodynamic analysis for two leading car models which one is expressed with lineal beauty and the other is with curvaceous beauty are compared with each other and they offer the proposal of modification for two models in order to decrease the drag force. The shape of curvaceous model is better for the pressure force but slightly worse for the viscous force than the other. The Fluent software is used for the calculation of flow profile in this study.

Integrative research on industrial policy and corporate strategy of autonomous car (세계 주요국의 자율주행차 정책 및 기업전략에 관한 통합적 연구)

  • This study conducted comparative study on autonomous car's industry policy and corporate strategy of US, China, Germany, Japan and Korea. By analyzing core technologies and industry paradigm shifts of autonomous car industry, I was able to figure out autonomous car has high potential to be dominant transportation in the future and it is important to construct core competency in technology area. The meaningful findings by analyzing various primary and secondary data are as followings: First, in case of US, Google was leading autonomous car industry by developing its own OS and Platform. US government has been actively supporting and interacting with private firms and Universities for stimulating industry/technology convergence and establishing standard. Second, in case of Germany, autonomous car development was leading by several auto makers such as Mercedes, BMW in Hardware and manufacturing area, and German government was focusing on deregulations for private company. Third, in case of Japan which quite similar with German situation, they were both independently developing technology and expanding alliances with MNCs. And Japanese government was supporting triple helix system construction between local companies and universities. Fourth, in case of China, autonomous car industry was leading by IT companies, and various cooperations between IT companies and automakers were established. Chinese government was regulating foreign companies and supporting domestic companies both in market and technologies Last, in Korean case, the active and extensive alliances were lacking in Korean companies while strategic and strong government supports were missing in public sector. For competing with other countries and players, more active collaboration between different countries and strong policy supports are needed in Korean auto industry.

  • The objective of this case study is to analyze how effectively KIA K5, which is a leading mid-size car brand, has positioned itself into the mid-size car market. Before KIA launched the K5, Sonata and SM5 were the leading brands in the mid-size car market. They had loyal customers who like their similar images. As many competitors keep launching new brands or new designs into the car industry, Sonata and SM5 were pressured to introduce new versions. But, the YF Sonata and the New SM5 failed to catch up with the new trends in the market. Whilst YF Sonata was perceived as too innovative, the New SM5 was treated as an old car by the target customers of the mid-size car. While the two leading brands struggled to attract customers, KIA K5 found a new market space by identifying and focusing on the lucrative replace and up-grade demand segment and filling the gap between the current product category values and the emerging mid-size car category values. The K5 found the right values that customers need and successfully articulated the values to the customers. This case study illustrates that a successful positioning strategy can be effectively employed to attract customers in the saturated car manufacturing industry. This case can be summarized as the successful positioning strategy of KIA K5 is comprised of four primary pillars: design innovation, market analysis, STP (segmentation, targeting, and positioning), and launch strategy. The KIA K5 case study provides valuable insights and implications for many other companies that are planning to find a proper positioning strategy for their own business.

  • With the popularization of autonomous driving technology, safety has emerged as a more important criterion. However, there are no assessment protocol or methods for AES (Autonomous Emergency Steering). So, this study proposes AES assessment protocol and scenario corresponding to collision avoidance Car-to-Car scenario of Euro NCAP in order to prepare for obstacles that appear after the emergency steering of LV (Leading Vehicle) avoiding obstacles in front of. Autoware-based autonomous driving stack is developed to test and simulate scenario in CARLA. Using developed stack, it is confirmed that obstacle avoidance is successfully performed in CARLA, and the AES performance of VUT (Vehicle Under Test) is evaluated by applying the proposed assessment protocol and scenario.

  • This study conducted a patent analysis to explore the trend of technology development in the field of smart car security. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that along with the growth of the smart car market, the development of smart car security related technology is also increasing. In particular, as related technology development has been rapidly taking place in recent years, it has been confirmed that competition among leading smart car countries and major companies is also expanding due to the commercialization of smart car. This study is meaningful in that it examines trends related to smart car security through quantitative analysis using patent data and presents implications accordingly.

  • In this paper, an approach for analyzing brand loyalty and brand switching behavior in car insurance market is presented. A two-choice model by Blumen, et al. that uses Markov chain is adopted as a main technique for estimating brand parameters. Survey data have been collected through personal interviews with questionnaires. Following the application of the model to the data, it is found that there are five leading companies in car insurance market where the number of potential brand switchers is larger than that of brand loyal customers. Therefore, differentiation of this product along with the conversion of this low-involvement product to a high-involvement one could make car insurance stand out against a somewhat undifferentiated field of competitors.

  • Recent technologies of the car are focused on improving vehicle's fuel efficiency and developing alternative energy sources. These technologies bring on the development of hybrid car. On the other hand, because of short driving distance, low efficiency of charging and high price, energy storage system need to improve the storage capability. It is very important to understand the existing technologies, grasp the existing patent and establish the technical target to improve the energy storage system. In this paper, technology trends of energy storage system of the hybrid car are analyzed. This study was based on the applied and registered patent in Korea, Japan, U.S.A and Europe until December 2008. The analyses are divided into two categories: a battery system and charging system of the hybrid car. The facts of the level of technology, trends of the R&D of leading companies, key patents, blank of the technology were analyzed. Finally the future R&D strategy of hybrid car are established.

A Study on the Construction of a Car Camping Map and Recommendation of Car Camping based on SNS Text Mining Analysis for the Post-Corona Era (SNS 텍스트 마이닝 기반 포스트 코로나 신트렌드 차박 여행 지도 제작 및 차박지 추천에 관한 연구)

  • As untact travel has become a new trend in leisure culture due to the spread of COVID-19, car camping market is rapidly increasing. The sales of car camping-related goods increased by up to 600 percent, and the sales of SUV in Korea also increased by about four times. Despite the growth of the car camping market, there is a lack of research on the actual condition of the car camping market or research on the user's perspective. Therefore, in this study, a survey of actual camping users was conducted to derive factors that they consider important in camping, and through this, a car camping map was produced. As a result, two types of maps were produced: a map about the car camping site and convenience facilities closest to the car camping site in Gangwon-do, and a hash tag themed map based on keywords for each car camping site. We gathered data on portal sites and social media to obtain information related to camping sites and proceeded with analysis using text mining. In addition, we extracted keywords using network analysis techniques and selected key themes that represent them. This allows the user to choose a car camping site by selecting keywords that suit their taste. We hope that this research will help car camping researchers as a prior study and provide a foundation for leading a clean camping culture through clean camping campaign. Also, we hope that car camping users will be able to do quality trip.
