Enhancing Workplace Performance Across Banking Distribution Networks: The Role of Self-Leadership and Intrinsic Motivation in Mitigating Procrastination Behavior

  • Purpose: This research delves into the relationship between self-leadership and procrastination behavior in banking distribution networks. Based on the self-determination theory, the study explores how organizational commitment mediates the relationship between these variables. Moreover, the research considers the vital role that intrinsic motivation plays in enhancing and reinforcing these connections. Research design and methodology: Using data from 384 bank employees and partial least squares structural equation modeling, the research found evidence to support the theory. This methodological approach enabled the investigation to uncover the intricate links between self-leadership, procrastination behavior, organizational commitment, and intrinsic motivation. Results: The findings strongly support the hypotheses, indicating a negative association between self-leadership and procrastination behavior at the workplace; conversely, a positive correlation was found between self-leadership and organizational commitment. The discovery further strengthens the results that intrinsic motivation amplifies the positive relationship between self-leadership and organizational commitment. Conclusions: This research underscores the importance of cultivating a culture of self-leadership among banking distribution network employees. By doing so, procrastination can be substantially reduced, enhancing both productivity and overall performance. The study's insights are particularly valuable for organizational leaders in the banking sector, as they provide actionable pathways to foster a more committed, motivated, and efficient workforce.

  • Although former scholarly studies mostly focus on exploring leadership effectiveness under the traditional hierarchical leader-subordinate relationship, the research of leadership performance for non-hierarchical organizational structures, particularly the mediating factors of higher-order goals, trust-in-leader, and self-efficacy have been ignored. This study, therefore, makes an attempt to ascertain the impacts of transformational leadership on the performance of subordinates through the mediating effects of higher-order goals, trust-in-leader, and self-efficacy and the differences of these effects in the context of multi-level marketing (MLM). Like the small-sample studies adopted by Barling, Weber, and Kelloway [1996], Barling, Slater, and Kelloway [2000] and Bass, Avolio, Jung, and Berson [2003], this study adopts a sample of 123 MLM distributors of an MLM company in Hong Kong, with a high response rate of 80.4%. The results indicate that the mediating effect of self-efficacy between transformational leadership and performance is significant under non-hierarchical organizational structures such as MLM in China.

  • This study first presents the characteristics of emerging leadership researches by theoretically analyzing the studies related to leadership since the Millenium. The first finding is that most of leadership researches shared same if not similar aspects of transformational leadership. Secondly, much of leadership researches centered around horizonally expanded shared/distributed leadership. Thus, this researches analyzed the effectiveness of the shared/distributed leadership theory based on previous researches and found shared/distributed leadership has positive impact on member's recognized performance and innovative behavior. However, in competition-oriented culture, shared/distributed leadership did not control recognized performance of its members. This implies the demand for shared/distributed leadership is necessary today and research on the matter will expanded globally but, the results may differ according to the cultural value of the company.

A Study on related factors of nursing students' self-efficacy, self-leadership and academic performance (간호대학생의 자기효능감, 셀프리더십 및 학업수행 관련요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study aimed to find the related factors of nursing students' self-efficacy(including general self-efficacy and social self-efficacy), self-leadership and academic performance. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 19.0. The general self-efficacy scores of the subjects in who're admitted according to aptitude, higher school grades, extroverts, and higher leadership were significantly higher than those who weren't. The social self-efficacy scores were significantly higher in younger ages, extroverts and higher leadership. Self-leadership was higher in those who're admitted according to aptitude. Academic performance was significantly higher in the females and higher school grades. Social self-efficacy was positively correlated with self-leadership, and negatively with academic performance. Explanation rate of sex, general self-efficacy and social self-efficacy on academic performance was 10.5%. These results can be applied as a basis for developing guidelines of nursing students' self-efficacy, self-leadership and academic performance after repeated studies.

  • In this paper analyzed the impact of innovation of CEOs of small and medium-sized companies, which are rapidly shifting to a digital economy, on corporate performance and how data literacy performs mediating functions. It was confirmed that innovation has a positive effect on corporate performance and that data literacy partially mediates the relationship between innovation and corporate performance. Transformational leadership shows a moderating effect in the relationship between innovation and corporate performance, and transactional leadership showed no moderating effect. Laissez-faire leadership has a moderating effect in the relationship between innovation and data literacy. These results show that innovation is an effective means of improving the organization's management performance, and are expected to awaken the importance of laissez-faire leadership and contribute to the establishment of management strategies.

  • Many studies have shown that job performance and leadership are important in our society. In addition, to improve the quality of work or to improve the work efficiency is still a lot of challenges for each leader. In Vietnam, there are few specific studies on the impact of leadership styles on employee engagement such as: transformational leadership styles, business leadership styles and leadership styles. In the field of higher education, the fewer studies on these issues. A study is conducted to test the impact of leadership styles on the engagement of cadres, lecturers and staff at public universities in Vietnam. Using adjustment techniques, inspecting the scales and theoretical models representing the relationship among the influential factors. The research is based on a sample of 309 cadres, lecturers and staff currently working in universities in Vietnam and used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test the relationships among the variables. The study results show that the scales of the variables: transformational leadership, transactional leadership, laissez faire leadership, job satisfaction and organizational engagement attain the validity and reliability in the research. The study results also show transformational leadership, transactional leadership and laissez faire leadership are directly and indirectly affected by job satisfaction and organizational commitment.

  • This study examines the effect of coaching leadership on resilience, interpersonal competence, and job performance, and identifies whether resilience and interpersonal competence mediate the relationship between coaching leadership and job performance. For this purpose, the data were collected for 240 nurses at U University Hospital in Ulsan City. SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 were used to analyze the statistical data and the validity of the this study. The results of this study showed as follows. First, coaching leadership has significantly affected resilience, interpersonal competence and job performance. Second, resilience has significantly affected interpersonal competence and job performance. Third, interpersonal competence have significantly affected job performance. Fourth, resilience and interpersonal competence had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between coaching leadership and job performance. Based on this study, we discussed the important rule of coaching leadership, resilience, interpersonal competence to improve job performance.

  • This research is an empirical study to analyze the relationship among the ethical leadership of supervisor, CSR attitude of subordinate, and supervisor's performance evaluated by subordinate. A survey was conducted for the employees of a large manufacturing company in Korea, and 196 questionnaires were analyzed. Results of multiple regression analyses showed that the relationship between the ethical leadership of supervisor and the CSR attitude of subordinate was positively significant. That is, the supervisor's ethical leadership leads the subordinate's positive CSR attitude. And, supervisor's performance evaluated by subordinate positively moderated the relationship between ethical leadership and CSR attitude. That is, when subordinates assesses the supervisor's performance as high, the positive relationship between supervisor's ethical leadership and subordinate's CSR attitude becomes relatively stronger. Theoretical and managerial implications of these empirical results were discussed.

  • This study analyzed the effect of department leadership 's leadership on department performance. The questionnaires were distributed from September 22, 2013 to October 13, 2013 to Daejeon and Chungnam area workers. The results of this study are as follows: First, the leadership of department head has a significant effect on the performance of department. (P <.001, ${\beta}=.613$), and task efficiency was statistically significant (p <.01, p = .270) The results of this study are as follows. Second, the communication ability of department heads showed a significant correlation between the department work efficiency and p <.01 significance level. In other words, it was confirmed that there was a positive correlation between department manager's communication ability and initiative' s achievement. The purpose of this study is to identify the importance of individual, organizational, and environmental factors by analyzing the influence of department leadership's leadership on departmental performance, and to investigate the differences according to individual characteristics of workers.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the leadership style and performance of university athletes' leaders. Research design, data, and methodology: This study utilizes survey items constructed by reserach variables. Data were collected from college athletes of universities in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, where sports teams are located. A convenient sampling method was used of non-probability sampling methods. A total of 314 responses were computed at statistic program, spss version 21.0. In specific, the study employed correlation, exploary factor analysis, mulple-regressions to test the effects of ledership types on performance. Results: As a result of an empirical analysis to examine the relationship between the leader's leader-ship style and the athletic performance of college athletes, it was found that the leader's leadership style had a significant effect on the college athletes' performance. Conclusions: A leader's leadership style is a very important factor for college athletes who enter the professional world after graduating from college. Therefore, coaches maintain a horizontal relationship with the players rather than a vertical one, and if a leadership style suitable for the players is applied, the players' performance will be better, and the development potential of players and teams will increase. Suggestions for future studies were discussed.
