  • Low-temperature solder glass for use in electronic package was experimentally prepared and its crystallization behavior was investigated using differential thermal analysis (DTA) under nonisothermal condition. The composition of the solder glass was determined from PbO-ZnO-$B_2$$O_3$-$TiO_2$ glasses containing small amounts of CaO, $SiO_2$$A1_2$$O_3$ and $P_2$$O_5$. The crystallization exotherm corresponding to the formation of lead titanate (PbTiO$_3$) was observed. The crystallization of $PbTiO_3$was a three-dimensional process with the average activation energy of 223$\pm$3 kJ/mol for the crystallization from the glass matrix.

  • Background: This study aimed to estimate occupational doses and patient peak skin doses (PSDs) during interventional radiology procedures. Materials and Methods: We examined data from brain embolization (n = 30), hepatic chemoembolization (n = 50), and uterine embolization (n = 12). The PSDs were measured using radiochromic film around the patient's head (group 1) or abdominal/pelvic region (group 2). Acquisition technical data and kerma-area products (KAP) were also recorded. Occupational doses were measured using $Instadose^{TM}$ dosimeters near the left eye region (LER), chest, and left ankle. Results and Discussion: The third quartile (median) KAP values were $408.1(235.3)Gy{\cdot}cm^2$ for group 1 and $584.4(449.4)Gy{\cdot}cm^2$ for group 2. The average PSDs were greatest during vascular procedures, reaching 1,004.4 (786.4) mGy, and the highest PSD was 2,352.6 mGy (during hepatic chemoembolization). The third quartile (median) occupational doses were 0.35 (0.21) mSv at the LER, 0.25 (0.15) mSv at the chest, and 1.47 (0.64) mSv at the left ankle. Occupational doses at the LER were higher than at the chest, which highlights the importance of protective glasses and suspended shields. The occupational doses at the ankle region were also high, which highlights the importance of using a lead-lined curtain attached to the table. Conclusion: The results indicate that physicians can reach, for eye region, the weekly occupational dose limit after around 15 procedures, even when using proper protection. The average PSD values were below the threshold for tissue reactions, although the complexity of these procedures emphasises the importance of considering related risks.

  • The glass series modified by tungsten oxide was created using the compounds (75-x) B2O3- 10SrCO3- 8TeO2- 7ZnO - xWO3, where x = 0, 1, 5, 10, 22, 27, 34, and 40% mole percentage. A UV-visible spectrophotometer and thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA) methods were employed to characterize the specimen's optical and phase transition attributes, respectively. The mass-attenuation coefficient (AC) of all created glasses from BSTZW0 to BSTZ7 was estimated using Geant4 code from 0.05 to 3 MeV and compared to the XCOM software results, with a relative difference of less than 2% between the two results. The increase of WO3 percentage lead to an increase in the Linear-AC at each studied energy, and this is mainly due to the fact that the higher the percentage of WO3 in the glass increases its density which causes an increase in the Linear-AC, so an energy of 0.06 MeV, as an example, the values of the Linear-AC was 4.009, 4.509, 5.442, 6812, 8.564, 9.856, 10.999 and 11.628 cm-1 form BSTZW0 too BSTZW7, respectively. The Half-VL (value layer), Mean-FP (free path), Tenth-VL, and Radiation attenuation performance (RAP) were also calculated for the current BSTZW-glass samples and revealed that BSTZW7 had the best gamma ray attenuation performance at all discussed energies when compared to other studied glass samples.

  • $PbTiO_3$ thin films were prepared on soda-lime-silica slide glasses, Si-wafer and sapphire substrate by the dip-coating of precursor solution. As starting materials, titanium tetra iso-propoxide and lead acetate trihydrate were used. Then acetylacetone was added to prepare stable sol. The effect of the parameters such as viscosity and composition of sol were investigated. The optical transmittance at visible range, refractive index, IR spectra were measured in varying compositions, thickness and heat treatment temperature. The crystallization of $PbTiO_3$ films were measured by using XRD and SEM. Diffusion of compositions from slide glass to thin film were investigated by using EDX, too. These sols not precipitated for 20 days. Transmittance of $PbTiO_3$ films at visible range were decreased with the increase of thickness and heat treatment temperatures, and were exhibited flat spectra. Pyrochlore type appeared in the films on slide glass and perovskite type appeared in the films on Si-wafer or sapphire at $600^{\circ}C$. Perovskite crystals transformed to $PbTi_3O_7$ phase at $800^{\circ}C$.

  • Low temperature firing $(Ba, Sr)TiO_{3}$ dielectrics were successfully prepared with lead based glass and those electrical properties were investigated. Different amount of PbO content glass materials were added to dielectrics to investigate the sinterability and its dielectric properties. Also, various compositions of ceramic capacitors were prepared to applicate in multilayer ceramic capacitors. A large amount of experiment has been done with various Pb contented glasses and different sintering temperatures. The sintering temperature of $(Ba,Sr)TiO_{3}$can be reduced from $1350^{\circ}C$to as low as $1050^{\circ}C$ with 4wt% addition of $PbO-ZnO-B_{2}O_{2}$ glass materials. Its dielectric constant at room temperature was up to 8100 with low dielectric loss, 0.005. This ceramic capacitor showed fully fired microstructures with its grain size of 1-3$\mu \textrm{m}$. The sintered body which was sintered at $1150^{\circ}C$ for 2hr with 4wt% $PbO-ZnO-B_{2}O_{2}$ glass material addition satisfied the Z5U specification of the EIAS.

  • To evaluate the effects of reflected glare on eyes, authors assessed the periodic health examination(1991-1996) & self-administered questionnaire data of a semiconductor producing company. The 13 lead frame(LF) department workers have been exposed to high reflected glare in the process for examining the silver plating products. We compared the data of connector(14) and clerical(12) workers as the non-exposed ones. Among LF department workers, 100% felt their visual acuity worsened(connector:81.8%, clerical:85.7%), and 70% had worn the glasses o. contact lenses(connector : 14.3%, clerical :40%) since working at the company. Major ophthalmic symptoms of the LF workers are asthenopia, tearing, decreased visual acuity, congestion and glare. Decrease of visual acuity by Hahn's line change of the LF workers is significantly high during a 5-year follow-up(p<0.05 by simple regression) compared with connector clerical workers.

  • This study was classified and compared astigmatism's refractional abnormal degrees with visual acuity state of full correction which turned on axises of only 5 degree, 10 degree, and 15 degree. Subjects of this study were 57 college students (114 eyes) who had neither eye diseases nor binocular abnormality, were from their twenties to fifties, with myopia. It appeared that 30.8% of subjects who had astigmatism wore glasses with wrong axis of astigmatism. After accurate correction of the visual acuity and degrees of astigmatism, when we moved to corrected axises at 5 degree, 10 degree, 15 degree, failure of visual acuity with one line or more were 56.1%, 84.2%, 93.8%, respectively. When we comapre the completely-corrected visual acuity with the visual acuity with dricted axes, the bigger the width of visual acuity's weakness was the bigger the drifted angle. The change of normal visual acuity according to drifting angle of corrected axises of astigmatism, when we compared with full correction, appeared 0.94 in 5 degree, 0.87 in 10 degree, and 0.79 in 15 degree. Drift of 5 degree from fully corrected axis, corresponded to difference of visual acuity about one line, drift of 10 degree to 1.8 line difference of visual acuity, and drift of 15 degree about to 2.6 line difference. Through this study, we were sure that, in the case of drifting away from the right axis of astigmatism, it lead to visual weakness and asthenopia. Therefore we darely advise that optometrists should make mistake of axis least by confirming accucacy of corrected axis after despensing of spectacles of astigmatism.

  • The purpose of this paper is to share the status and introduce a scientific analysis of the GeumguJagi (gilt-silver overlay porcelain, 金釦瓷器) excavated from Seongneung (石陵). This analysis aimed to highlight the GeumguJagi excavated from the Royal Tombs of Goryeo with a clear lower year (1237) and to aid research into the GeumguJagi. In 2001, the National Institute of Cultural Heritage excavated and investigated Seongneung in Heejong (熙宗). Various artifacts such as celadon, gold, bronze, and iron products were collected from the chambers inside of the tomb. There were a total of 160 celadon items including bowls, dishes, glasses, and saucers. Of those, there were 58 celadon items (including fragments) with metal frames on the openings. These consisted of bowls, plates, lids, and saucers. Until recently, in various exhibitions and papers, only one GeumguJagi was known to have been excavated from Seongneung, which was a . However, the survey identified a number of further GeumguJagis. It had been understood from inherited and excavated products that the materials used for ornaments were restricted to high-quality celadon. However, this study confirmed that the excavation of Seongneung demonstrated the use of various other materials for different models and qualities of GeumguJagis. It can be said that it is characteristic that various models and quality are confirmed together through the excavation of Seongneung. A scientific analysis was carried out that selected 12 of 58 products excavated from Seongneung. Results showed that the main component used for Geumgu ornaments was tin (Sn), and trace amounts of copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) were also commonly identified. When analyzing the material used to affix the metal fittings, this was found to be glue (膠) made from animal skins, muscle, and bones. This pattern matches that of the GeumguJagi excavated from Paju Hyeeumwonji, and the reason for this could be assumed on the basis of the contents of the 『Cheongonggaemul (天工開物)』 written by Song Ongsung (宋應星) during the Ming Dynasty. At that time, metals such as tin and copper would have been difficult to obtain. 『Xuānhwafengshi Gaolitujing (宣和奉使高麗圖經)』 shows that the use of metal was limited to certain classes; thus, the use of the GeumguJagi seems to have been centered around the royal family.
