정수슬러지를 혼합한 경량토의 보강에 따른 강도 및 용출 특성 분석 (Strength and Leaching Characteristics of Water Sludge-added Lightweight Soil Considering Reinforcing Material and Layer)

  • 본 연구에서는 보강재료(폐어망, 본딩처리된 폐어망, 지오그리드)와 보강층수(1층 및 2층)에 따른 정수슬러지 혼합 경량토의 강도 및 용출 특성을 비구속압축시험과 용출시험을 통해 분석하였다. 정수슬러지가 혼합된 경량토는 정수슬러지, 시멘트, 저회를 유동성에 맞춰서 배합 제작되었다. 시험에 사용된 보강재료는 폐어망과 지오그리드이다. 흙입자와 폐어망 사이의 억물림을 증가시키기 위하여 본딩처리를 한 폐어망을 추가로 사용하였다. 정수슬러지가 혼합된 경량토에 대한 강도시험 결과 보강재료에 따른 강도증진은 폐어망, 본딩처리된 폐어망, 지오그리드 순으로 증가하였다. 또한 보강층수가 1층에서 2층으로 증가할수록 강도 역시 증가되는 경향을 나타내었다. 또한 정수슬러지를 혼합한 경량토에 대한 용출시험을 분석한 결과 환경부가 고시한 기준을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The phenomenon of sediment resuspension in rivers and lakes causes contaminants (heavy metals and nutrients) accumulated in the sediment to leach into the overlying water. As a result, it can lead to changes in toxic effects and eutrophication in the aquatic ecosystem. In this regard, it is important to quantitatively determine the amount of contaminants leached during sediment resuspension. In this study, methods for assessing the amount of released contaminants and the types of contaminants potentially released due to sediment resuspension were studied and summarized. Methods for assessing leaching can be divided into three groups based on the principle of causing resuspension: (i) the oscillating grid chamber method, (ii) the mechanical stirrer method, and (iii) the shaker method. It was confirmed that the types of contaminants that can potentially be released include heavy metals bound to sulfides, as well as exchangeable and labile forms of heavy metals and nutrients. To effectively manage stable aquatic ecosystems in the future, a simplified leaching test method is needed to assess in advance the risks (i.e., changes in toxic effects and eutrophication) that sediment resuspension may pose to aquatic ecosystems.

제강슬래그의 친환경적 매체접촉형 재활용 방안: 용출시험 및 국내외 재활용 지침 비교 (Guideline for Media-contact Recycling of Steel-Making Slag: Leaching Tests and Comparison of International Recycling Guidelines)

  • Slags from steel-making industry have been recycled at a target rate of 95% and most of them are recycled as media-contact type such as fill and cover materials in Korea. However, as they contain free phase CaO during their generation, they may not only expand and collapse upon contact with water, but high pH leachate and heavy metals leaching may occur. In this study, the Korean leaching procedure (KLP) and up-flow percolation test were performed for the samples collected from 17 steel-making production plants in Korea. The waste quality criteria were met in all tests, but pH of the samples was above 10. There are no regulations on the pH of leachate in most of the countries, however, Germany, Italy, and Australia have set a pH range of 10 to 13 for the leachates. Although slag leachate cannot be considered hazardous based only on its high pH, it is necessary to reduce the pH of leachate to minimize the impact on the surrounding environment. Furthermore, conflicting regulations on wastes handling and management in Korea created confusion on the types of wastes subject to recycling. Therefore, an appropriate management plan for steel-making slags needs to be established. To this end, this study attempted to provide a guideline for managing steel-making slag waste by considering international guidelines and current management practices in Korea.

유기질 혼합토의 토공재로서의 활용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Utilization of Organic Mixed Soil as Earthwork Materials)

  • 본 연구는 유기질토를 토공재로서 활용할 목적으로 시료A(모래+유기질토)와 시료B(풍화토+유기질토)의 두 가지 시료를 유기질토 혼합비를 5%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%로 혼합하여 각종 실내시험을 실시하였다. 시료A, B의 용출시험에 의한 COD값은 순수 유기질토에 비해 상당히 낮은 값을 보였으며, 초기 침출수의 COD 값은 침출수 수질기준을 약간 상회하였지만 용출시작 4시간후의 COD 값은 매우 적게 나타났다. 모래와 유기질토의 혼합토는 유기질토 혼합비 40%(유기물함유량 11.3%)내에서는 성토재로서의 활용이 가능한 것으로 나타났으며, 풍화토와 유기질토의 혼합토는 유기질토 혼합비 30%(유기물함유량 16.4%)이내에서 토공재로서 활용이 가능하다고 판단되어진다.

자기치유 기능을 이용하는 SSG공법의 공학적 특성 (Engineering Properties of Self-healing Smart Grouting Method)

  • 최근 개발된 자기치유 그라우팅(SSG, self-healing smart grouting)공법은 지반의 내구성 및 차수성의 향상, 용탈 및 환경오염 방지 등의 특성을 가지고 있다. 이 연구는 SSG공법의 공학적 특성을 규명한 것으로써 기존 약액주입(LW, SGR)공법과의 공학적 특성을 비교하기 위해 겔타임 측정, 일축압축강도 시험, 투수 시험, 어독성 시험, 내화학성 시험을 수행하였다. 연구결과, SSG공법은 장 단기 차수성능 유지, 강도 발현, 내구성 확보에 유리하고 용탈에 의한 지하수 및 지반의 오염 가능성이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 SSG공법은 기존 약액주입공법의 문제점들을 최소화할 수 있는 대체 공법으로 현장에 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

  • The purposes of this study are to investigate the material characteristics and strength properties of concrete mixed with waste incinerated bottom ash(BA), and to evaluate the leaching of environmentally harmful heavy metals from the bottom ash itself and from hardened concrete mixed with bottom ash. For this purpose, two reference mixes with W/C ratios of 0.45 and 0.55 were used, and the replacement proportion of BA was varied with the ratios of 0%, 30%, 50%, 70%, and 100% by volume of fine aggregate in the reference mixes. The variation of compressive and splitting tensile strength, workability and unit weight of concrete were considered. Test results showed that the strengths, workability and unit weight decreased with increase in proportion of BA replaced. Leaching test results showed that there would be no environmentally harmful problem from using BA as the substitutes of fine aggregates in concrete.

산업폐기물인 제지회의 활용방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Utilization Method of Paper Ash in Industrial Waste)

  • This study is an experimental study to investigate the possibility of the utilization of paper ash as the cover, liner in waste disposal landfill and other construction materials. The sample used in these tests was obtained from Daehan paper mill. A series of tests were peformed to evaluate basic properties, compaction, permeability, compressive strength, consolidation, leaching, and CBR of paper ash. In order to investigate the soil engineering properties of paper ash, the test results were compared with those obtained of fly ash. The results of unconfined compression tests show that paper ash had a larger strength than the fly ash. Also, the maximum dry unit weight of paper ash was approximately 59~76.9% less than that of the fly ash. It was found from the results of leaching test that paper ash is classified as non-detrimental general wastes according to the waste management law.

  • Modified product Consistency Test (M-PCT) has been developed as an alternative to other existing methods in determining the leachability of glass. M-PCT, the leaching method, is a hybrid of MCC-l and PCT, but can provide quicker sample preparation. Larger diameter glass sample (1.0-2.0 mm) than in the PCT method can be used so that the glass beads are more easily produced and cleaned. From the M-PCT, the total mass loss (ML) of glass, the normalized elemental release rate (NLi), pH value of leachate have been obtained. For some selected glasses in which leaching rates have been known, their chemical durablility have been tested using the M-PCT method. The results are compared to the literature data for the glasses. It is found that M-PCT method is reasonable and suitable in determining the leachability of Low and Intermediate level Radioactive Waste glass form, such as the pH, elemental loss and total mass loss.

  • This study concerns the cement-solidification/stabilization of the municipal waste incineration fly-ash. Compressive strength and leaching test of heavy metals were evaluated for varying types and ratios of cements and the effects of some additives of Hauyne clinker and slag were also discussed. In the cases of using cement binders more than 10%, the compressive strength after 3 days showed the values over $20kgf/cm^2$. Type III cement and Hauyne clinker improved the compressive strength, especially early strength. And the values of leaching test showed that cement-solidification is effective method to stabilize heavy metals especialy when using type III cement and adding Hauyne clinker and slag,.

EAF 더스트-점토계의 중금속 용출 및 안정화에 미치는 pH의 영향 (Leaching and stabilization of the heavy metals with pH in EAF dust-clay system)

  • 유해한 중금속을 다량 함유하는 EAF(electric arc furnace) 더스트를 세라믹 원료로 재활용하기 위해서 EAF 더스트, EAF 더스트-점토에 대해서 pH와 혼합비에 따른 중금속 용출농도의 변화를 분석하였다. 소성과정 중에서 발생하는 중금속의 휘발량을 소지 내의 중금속 이온의 총량을 측정하여 평가하였으며 TCLP(toxicity characteristic leaching procedure)분석을 통해 중금속 이온의 안정화 정도를 평가하였다. EAF 더스트-점토 슬러리의 pH를 10으로 조절하였을 경우에 습식혼합 여액중의 중금속 이온의 농도가 가장 낮은 값을 가졌다. pH 10의 슬러리에 대해서 혼합비와 소성온도에 따른 소지내 중금속 이온의 총량을 측정한 결과 소성온도와 EAF 더스트의 함량이 증가할수록 중금속의 휘발이 증가하였으며, 점토의 혼합비가 증가할수록 중금속 이온의 휘발이 억제되었다. TCLP 분석결과 점토의 혼합비와 소성온도가 증가할수록 중금속의 용출은 감소하였으며 중금속의 용출농도는 기준치 이하로 안정화되었음을 확인할 수 있었다.
