  • In this study, Poly-urethane acrylate (PUA) was synthesized by the reaction between Polycaprolactonetriol (PCLT) and Isophorone dissocyanate (IPDI) and hybridized with inorganic materials. Tetraethylortho silicate (TEOS) and nano clay (Closite 20A) were used as inorganic particles. For the hybridization of TEOS with PUA, sol-gel method is used, in which TEOS is made into spherical particle in the firsthand. In the case of Nano clay, hybridization is carried out through the dispersion as Nano clay has a layered structure. The solution of PUA hybrid was made into a film after UV curing and its thermo and electrical properties were measured. The experimental analysis and result demonstrate that the PUA hybrid shows an improved thermal properties and lower dielectric constant than that of the non-hybrid PUA. The trend of improved properties was different depending on structure of inorganic materials.

  • Recently, precast concrete products have been increasingly used in the construction of bridges except for special bridges like long-span bridge due to their easy and high-quality construction. Specially the use of precast prestressed concrete hollow box slab bridges is also increased due to the merits in their construction. Thus, an experimental evaluation of flexural behavior of the precast PSC hollow box slab bridges and a development of effective analytical technique for the behavior are necessary. For the development, experimental study on the flexural behavior of the precast bridges up to ultimate states is needed. In this study, two full-scale precast PSC hollow box slab girders are manufactured and full-scale flexural failure tests of the girders subjected to cyclic loading are carried out. For the failure analysis of the girders, the so-called volume control method is applied to finite element analysis of the precast PSC hollow box slab girders discretized using multi-layered shell elements. The analytical results by the volume control method is verified by comparing with test results.

  • An RFID system has been widely applied in many areas over the initial SCM application. In the literature enormous RFID applications in healthcare are documented to improve patient safety, patient/provider logistics, and the efficiency of collecting data. Based on the proposed 4-layered RFID system architecture, we introduce a case that implemented an UHF passive RFID-based tracking system in an outpatient clinic. Particularly, we propose a method to process RFID data that contains noise and missing reads. The proposed method for processing unreliable RFID data is capable to locate the tag accurately and provide additional business information. We finally conclude the paper with identifying obstacles and what is necessary to ensure system reliability.

  • A defect analysis program of the composite motor case was developed to apply the ultrasonic signal processing method on basis of the ultrasonic pulse-echo method and the defects of FRP delamination and FRP/Rubber disbond in the composite motor case could be quantitatively measured. The defects detected in the composite motor case were in agreement with the results measured with the computed tomography and video microscope. This paper was described about the development process of the defect analysis program to convert the ultrasonic test data into the C-Scan image.

  • We have developed a Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) type algorithm for designing multi-layered neural networks. The algorithm is general enough that it will accept any number of inputs and any sized training set. Each neuron of the resulting network is a function of two of the inputs to the layer. The equation for each of the neurons is a quadratic polynomial. Several forms of the equation are tested for each neuron to make sure that only the best equation of two inputs is kept. All possible combinations of two inputs to each layer are also tested. By carefully testing each resulting neuron, we have developed an algorithm to keep only the best neurons at each level. The algorithm's goal is to create as accurate a network as possible while minimizing the size of the network. Software was developed to train and simulate networks using our algorithm. Several applications were modeled using our software, and the result was that our algorithm succeeded in developing small, accurate, multi-layer networks.

  • This paper presents a framework of hybrid dynamic control systems for the motion control of wheeled mobile robot systems with nonholonomic constraints. The hybrid control system has the 3-layered hierarchical structure: digital automata for the higher process, mobile robot system for the lower process, and the interface as the interaction process between the continuous dynamics and the discrete dynamics. In the hybrid control architecture of mobile robot, the continuous dynamics of mobile robots are modeled by the switched systems. The abstract model and digital automata for the motion control are developed. In high level, the discrete states are defined by using the sensor-based search windows and the reference motions of a mobile robot in low level are specified in the abstracted motions. The mobile robots can perform both the motion planning and autonomous maneuvering with obstacle avoidance in indoor navigation problem. Simulation and experimental results show that hybrid system approach is an effective method for the autonomous maneuvering in indoor environments

  • Polycrystalline SBTN layered ferroelectric thin film with various Nb mole ratios were prepared by sol-gel method Pt/ $SiO_2$/Si (100) substrates. The films were annealed at different temperature and characterized in terms of phase and microstructure. The films were crystallized with a high (105) diffraction intensity and had rodike structure, SBTN films fired at 800$^{circ}C$ revealed standard hysteresis loops with no fatigue for up to 10$^{10}$ cycles. • A matrix method for evaluating effective electro-magneto-thermo-elastic properties of a generally anisotropic multilayered composite is presented. Physical variables are categorized into two groups: one that satisfies the continuity across the interface between layers and another that satisfies an average inter-layer compatibility (which is also exact). The coupled electro-magneto-thermo-elastic constitutive equation is accordingly reassembled into submatrices, which leads to the derivation of concise and exact matrix expressions for effective properties of a multilayered composite having the coupled physical effects. Comparing the results for a purely elastic multiplayer with those from other theoretical approaches validates the developed method. Examples are given for a PZT-graphite/epoxy composite and a $BaTiO_3-CoFe_2O_4$ multiplayer which exhibit piezo-thermoelastic and magnetoelectric properties, respectively. The result shows how a strong magnetoelectric effect can be achieved by combining piezoelectric and piezomagnetic materials in a multilayered structure. The magnetoelectric coefficient of the $BaTiO_3-CoFe_2O_4$ multiplayer is compared with those for fibrous and particulate composites fabricated with the same constituents.

  • In this paper, a multi-layered finite element model for laminated glass plates is introduced. A layer-wise theory is applied to the analysis of laminated glass due to the combination of stiff and soft layers; the independent layers are connected via Lagrange multipliers. The von $K{\acute{a}}rm{\acute{a}}n$ large deflection plate theory and the constant Poisson ratio for constitutive equations are assumed to capture the possible effects of geometric nonlinearity and the time/temperature-dependent response of the plastic foil. The linear viscoelastic behavior of a polymer foil is included by the generalized Maxwell model. The proposed layer-wise model was implemented into the MATLAB code and verified against detailed three-dimensional models in ADINA solver using different hexahedral finite elements. The effects of temperature, load duration, and creep/relaxation are demonstrated by examples.

  • In this paper, we propose modeling method for video data that represents structural and semantic contents of video data efficiently. Also, a browsing method that helps users easily understand and play the contents of video data is presented. The proposed modeling scheme consists of three layers such as raw data layer, content layer and key frame layer The content layer represents logical hierarchy and semantic contents of video data. We implement two kinds of browsers for playing video data and providing video contents. The playing browser plays video data and Presents the information of currently playing shot. The content browser allows users to browse raw data, structural information and semantic contents of video data.
