Understanding limitation of simulation for Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) height in mesoscale meteorological model is important for accurate meteorological variable and diffusion of air pollution. This study examined the accuracy for simulated PBL heights using two different PBL schemes (MYJ, YSU) in Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model during the radiosonde observation period. The simulated PBL height were verified using atmospheric sounding data obtained from radiosonde observations that were conducted during 5 months from August to December 2014 over the Gumi weir in Nakdong river. Four Dimensional Data Assimilation (FDDA) using radiosonde observation data were conducted to reduce error of PBL height in WRF model. The assessment result of PBL height showed that RMSE with YSU scheme were lower than that with MYJ scheme in the day and night time, respectively. Especially, the WRF model with YSU scheme produced lower PBL height than with the MYJ scheme during night time. The YSU scheme showed lower RMSE than the MYJ scheme on sunny, cloudy and rainy day, too. The experiment result of FDDA showed that PBL height error were reduced by FDDA and PBL height at the nudging coefficient of $3.0{\times}10^{-1}$ (YSU_FDDA_2) were similar to observation compared to the nudging coefficient of $3.0{\times}10^{-4}$ (YSU_FDDA_1).
The objective of this study is to analyze the flora and forest vegetation of trails with high visitor density at Molundae. Nine quadrats of $20{\times}20m$ were selected for the survey. The survey was conducted from April to October 2010. The obtained results are summarized as follows. Plot1, plot2, plot3, plot4, plot6, and plot7 were located at slopes of $5{\sim}20^{\circ}$, 17~40m above sea level, and were formed with the colony of Japanese black pine(Pinus thunbergii Parl) and Japanese black pine(Pinus thunbergii Parl)-white oak(Quercus aliena Blume). Tree layer had the height of 8~20m, and the coverage of 50~70%, while subtree layer had the height of 3-8m, and the coverage 30~80%. On the other hand, shrub layer had the height of 2~4m, and the coverage of 10~30%, and herb had the height of 0.2~1m and coverage 5~20%. Plot5, plot8, and plot9 were located at the summit areas of 57~78m above sea level, and $0^{\circ}$ slope. Japanese black pine(Pinus thunbergii Parl) formed a community there. Tree layer was 8~20m high, and covered 60~70%, of the area, and subtree layer was 6~8m high, and coverage 30~40%. Shrub layer had the height of 2~6m, and the coverage of 30%, while herb layer had the height 0.2~2m, and the coverage 20-80%. Succession does not occur in the surveyed areas which have high visitor density. Artificially planted sawtooth oak(Quercus acutissima) trees were found to disturb succession and formation of multi-layer vegetation, resulting in the ecologically unstable forest. Therefore, the researcher suggested the strategy of managing the vegetation in the conclusion. This study has the limit in that the plots selected for the survey reflected only part of various trails in the Molundae area. It is necessary to suggest the vegetation management plans by selecting more diverse trail areas in consideration of the visitor density and behaviors, and analyzing the changes in vegetation quantitatively in order to manage the vegetation in urban areas damaged by visitors more effectively.

Effeccs of porous wind fence on surface-pressure around 2-dimensional prism model of triangular cross-section were investigated experimentally. The pressure data were obtained at a Reynolds number based on the model height of Re=2.1*10$^{5}$ . Flow visualization also carried out to investigate the flow structure qualitatively. The mean velocity and turbulent intensity profiles measured at fence location were well fitted to the neutral atmospheric surface boundary layer over the open terrain. Various fences with different porosity and height were tested to investigate their effects on the surface pressure acting on a prism model at different locations. As the results, porous fence with porosity 40 ~ 50% is most effective for abating wind erosion. With decreasing porosity of the fence, pressure fluctuations on the model surface are increased. The mean pressure coefficients are decreased only when the fence height is greater than the model height. The effect of distance between wind fence and triangular prism was not significant, compared to that of the fence porosity and height.

The multilayer structure of the organic light emitting diode has merits of improving interfacial characteristics and helping carriers inject into emission layer and transport easier. There are many reports to control hole injection from anode electrode by using transition metal oxide as an anode buffer layer, such as V2O5, MoO3, NiO, and Fe3O4. In this study, we apply thin films of LiF which is usually inserted as a thin buffer layer between electron transport layer(ETL) and cathode, as an anode buffer layer to reduce the hole injection barrier height from ITO. The thickness of LiF as an anode buffer layer is tested from 0 nm to 1.0 nm. As shown in the figure 1 and 2, the luminous efficiency versus current density is improved by LiF anode buffer layer, and the threshold voltage is reduced when LiF buffer layer is increased up to 0.6 nm then the device does not work when LiF thickness is close to 1.0 nm As a result, we can confirm that the thin layer of LiF, about 0.6 nm, as an anode buffer reduces the hole injection barrier height from ITO, and this results the improved luminous efficiency. This study shows that LiF can be used as an anode buffer layer for improved hole injection as well as cathode buffer layer.
A Jump model was evaluated for the calculation of hourly mixing height and mean potential temperature within the height. The Sump model was modified for estimation of downward heat fluxes by mechanical convections and surface heat fluxes. The surface heat fluxes were estimated from routine weather data such as solar radiation and air temperature. Total of 8 upper-air data observed at 0000UTC and 0600UTC in Osan station during April 23 to 26, 1996 were analyzed, and compared to the model results in detail. The calculated mixing heights and potential temperatures within the height were comparable to the observations, but some differences were showed. The calculated mixing heights were generally higher than observations. And, when variations of wind directions were large, the large difference of potential temperature was occurred. From the results, it was important to note that vortical motions and advections of air masses would affect to the growth of the mixing height.
An investigation was done to know the warty layer structural difference in bordered pit of longitudinal tracheid in Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc., Pinus koraiensis Sieb. et Zucc., Pinus rigida Mill. and Larix kaempferi Carr. grown in Korea. Among the four wood species, warty layer was found in bordered pit of longitudinal tracheid of Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc. and Pinus rigida Mill. The mean height and horizontal diameter of warty layer was found highest in Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc. The height of warty layer was found the highest in juvenile wood of Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc. and it gradually decreased towards the matured wood.

The effects of the interaction between the flow and temperature field and a boundary layer due to a variety of the height of a vortex generator are experimentally investigated. The test facility consists of a boundary-layer wind tunnel with the vortex generator protruding from the bottom surface. In order to control the strength of the longitudinal vortices, the angle of attack and the spacing distance of the vortex generator are 20 degree and 40 mm, respectively. The height of the vortex generator (H) is 15 mm, 20 mm and 30 mm and the cord length of it is 50 mm. Three-component mean velocity measurements are made using a 5-hole probe system and the surface temperature distribution is measured by the hue capturing method using thermochromatic liquid crystals. By using the method mentioned above, the following conclusions are obtained from the present experiment. The boundary layer is thinned in the downwash region where the strong downflow and the lateral outflow of the boundary layer fluid occur and thickened in the upwash re,3ion where the longitudinal vortex sweeps low momentum fluid away from the bottom surface. In case that the height of the vortex generator increases, the averaged circulation and the maximum vorticity of the vortex pair decrease. The contours of the non-dimensional temperature show the similar trends fur all the cases (H=15 mm, 20 mm and 30 mm). The peak augmentation of the distribution of the local non-dimensional temperature occurs in the downwash region near the point of minimum boundary-layer thickness.
Effect of boundary layer thickness on the flow characteristics around a rectangular prism has been investigated by using a PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) technique. Three different boundary layers(thick, medium and thin)were generated in the Atmospheric Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel at Pusan National University. The thick boundary layer having 670mm thickness was generated by using spires and roughness elements. The medium thickness of boundary layer$(\delta=270mm)$ was the natural turbulent boundary layer at the test section with fully long developing length(18m). The thin boundary layer with 36.5mm thickness was generated by on a smooth panel elevated 70cm from the wind tunnel floor. The Reynolds number based on the free stream velocity and the height of the model was $7.9{\times}10^3$. The mean velocity vector fields and turbulent kinetic energy distribution were measured and compared. The effect of boundary layer thickness is clearly observed not only in the length of separation bubble but also in the reattachment points. The thinner boundary layer thickness, the higher turbulent kinetic energy peak around the model roof. It is strongly recommended that the height ratio between model and approaching boundary layer thickness should be a major parameter.
Thisstudy presentsthe method for deriving surface visibility from satellite retrieved AOD. To do thisthe height of aerosol distribution isrequired. This distribution would be in thisstudy represented by the two heights; if there is a discrete atmospheric layer, which is physically separated from the above layer, the upper height of the layer is assumed as Aerosol Layer Height(ALH). In this case there is clear minimum in the Relative Humanity vertical distribution. Otherwise PBLH(Planetary Boundary Layer Height) is used. These heights are obtained from the forecast data of Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System(RDAPS). The surface visibility is estimated from MODIS AOD and ALH/PBLH, using Koschmieder's Law for ALH and the empirical relations for PBLH. The estimated visibility are evaluated from the visibility measurements of 9 eve-measurement stations and 17 PWD22 stations for the spring of 2015 and 2016. Verification of the estimated visibility shows that there are considerable differencesin statistical verification value depending on stations, years, morning(Terra)/afternoon(Aqua). The better results are shown in the midwest part of korean peninsula for Terra of 2016. The results are summarized as; correlation coefficients of higher than 0.65, for low visibility RMSE of 3.62 km and ME of 2.29 km or less, POD of higher than 0.65 and FAR of 0.5 or less. Verification results were better with increase in the number of low-visibility data.

Experimental methods of plume dispersion in convective boundary layer using a composite turbulence water tank have been established through (ⅰ) manufacturing of water tank system, (ⅱ) providing of tracer whose volatility is relatively low, (ⅲ) development of software for image processing of dispersed particles in fluid, and (ⅳ) application of appropriate similarity law. Using these methods, the vertical dispersion coefficient $$\sigma$_2$ at long distances on mesoscale and the centerline height $Z_c$ of plumes have been measured. Measurement of $$\sigma$_2$ have been validated through comparison with CONDORS field experiments, and analysed with respect to the intensity of heat flux and mechanical turbulence as well as plume release height. Downwind distance where plume center height approaches to final level has also been analysed in respect of these three parameters.
