Grain boundary diffusion plays significant role in the fission gas release, which is one of the crucial processes dominating nuclear fuel performance. Gaseous fission products such as Xe and Kr generated inside fuel pellet have to diffuse in the lattice and in the grain boundary before they reach open space in the fuel rod. In the mean time, the grains in the fuel pellet grow and shrink according to grain growth kinetics, especially at elevated temperature at which nuclear reactors are operating. Thus the boundary movement ascribed to the grain growth greatly influences the fission gas release rate by lengthening or shortening the lattice diffusion distance, which is the rate limiting step. Sweeping fission gases by the moving boundary contributes to the increment of the fission gas release as well. Lattice and grain boundary diffusion processes in the fission gas release can be studied by 'tracer diffusion' technique, by which grain boundary diffusion can be estimated and used directly for low burn-up fission gas release analysis. However, even for tracer diffusion analysis, taking both the intragranular grain growth and the diffusion processes simultaneously into consideration is not easy. Only a few models accounting for the both processes are available and mostly handle them numerically. Numerical solutions are limited in the practical use. Here in this paper, an approximate analytical solution of the lattice and stationary grain boundary diffusion in a polycrystalline solid is developed for the tracer diffusion techniques. This short closed-form solution is compared to available exact and numerical solutions and turns out to be acceptably accurate. It can be applied to the theoretical modeling and the experimental analysis, especially PIE (post irradiation examination), of low burn up fission. gas release.
We propose a Cubic-Interpolated Pseudo-Particle Lattice Boltzmann method (CIP-LBM) for the convection-diffusion equation (CDE) based on the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) scheme equation. The CIP-LBM relies on an accurate numerical lattice equilibrium particle distribution function on the advection term and the use of a splitting technique to solve the Lattice Boltzmann equation. Different schemes of lattice spaces such as D1Q3, D2Q5, and D2Q9 have been used for simulating a variety of problems described by the CDE. All simulations were carried out using the BGK model, although another LB scheme based on a collision term like two-relation time or multi-relaxation time can be easily applied. To show quantitative agreement, the results of the proposed model are compared with an analytical solution.
The effect of ZrC and VC addition on the diffusion induced recrystallization (DIR) of TiC-Cr3C2 has been investigated. With in creasing the amount of added ZrC to Cr3C2 the DIR of TiC was suppressed at the begining and then occurred. On the contrary the DIR was accelerated with the addition of VC to Cr3C2 Because the lattice parameters of (Ti, Cr)C and (Ti,V)C are smaller and that of (Ti, Zr)C is larger than that of TiC the lattice parameter of (Ti,Cr,Zr)C is expected to be similar to that of TiC,. The results indicate that the strain energy due to lattice mismatch between TiC and solid-solution carbide is the driving force of the observed energy due to lattice mismatch between TiC and solid-solution carbide is the driving force of the observed DIR.

Rare earth-doped ceria powders with a composition of Ce0.8R0.2O1.9(R=Yb, Y, Gd, Sm, Nd and La) were prepared by heating the oxalate coprecipitate. The green compacts began to shrink at 600$^{\circ}$-700$^{\circ}C$. The relative density after the sintering at 1200$^{\circ}$ and 1400$^{\circ}C$ became higher for the higher green density. The samples were densified above 98% relative density by the sintering ant 1600$^{\circ}C$ for 4 h and the grain sizes (4.7-7.6$\mu\textrm{m}$) showed a tendency to become larger with increasing ionic radius of doped-rare earth element. In the intial stag of sintering at 700$^{\circ}$-800$^{\circ}C$, the dominant mass transport process changed from lattice diffusion to grain boundary diffusion to grain boundary diffusion with heating time. The porosity during the intermediated and final stage of the sintering at 1200$^{\circ}$ and 1400$^{\circ}C$ decreased by the mass transport through lattice diffusion with grain growth.
Purpose: We developed the software for diffusion tensor imaging and evaluated its feasibility in norm brains. Method: Five normal volunteers, aged from 25 to 29 years, were examined on a 1.5 T MR system. the diffusion tensor pulse sequence used a SE-EPI with 6 diffusion gradie directions of (1, 1, 0), (-1, 1,0), (1, 0, 1), (-1, 0, 1), (0, 1, 1), (0, 1, -1) and also with no diffusion gradient. A b-factor of 500 sec/mm2 was used. Measurement parameter were as follows; TR/TE=10000 ms/99 ms, FOV=240 mm, matrix=128$\times$128, slice thickness/gap=6 mm/0 mm, bandwidth=91 kHz and the number of total slices=20. Four repeated axial diffusion images were averaged for diffusion tensor imaging. A total scan 11 of 4 min 30 sec was used. Six full diffusion tensor components of Dxx, Dyy, Dzz, Dxy, Dxz and Dyz were obtained using two-point linear regression model from 7 diffusion-weight images at each pixel and fractional anisotropy and lattice index images was estimated fr their eigenvectors and eigenvalues. Our program was written on a platform of IDL. W evaluated the qualities of fractional anisotropy and lattice index images of normal brains a knew whether our software for diffusion tensor imaging may be feasible.

This closed-form solution is compared to available exact and numerical solutions and it turns out that it makes computation not only greatly easier but also more accurate than previous models. It can be applied to theoretical modelings for low bum-up fission gas release phenomena and experimental analyses as well, especially for PIE (post irradiation examination).
The miniaturization of device size and submicron process causes serious problems in conventional metallization due to the solubility of silicon and metal at the interface, such as an increasing contact resistance in the contact hole and interdiffusion between metal and silicon. Moreover, the interaction between Cu and Si is so strong and detrimental to the electrical performance of Si even at temperatures below $200^{\circ}C$. Therefore it is necessary to implement a barrier layer between Cu and Si. So we study W-C-N diffusion barrier for prevent Cu diffusion as a function of $N_2$ gas flow and thermal stability. Especially, we also study the W-C-N diffusion barrier for analyzing the change of lattice constants.
Coherent precipitation of Zn3P2 during Zn diffusion in a GaInAsP/InP heterostructure was studied using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. Zn-diffusion-induced intermixing of Ga and In across the GaInAsP/InP heterointerface provided a Ga-mixed InP region which was nearly lattice-matched with Zn3P2 crystal and thus allowed thecoherent precipitation of Zn3P2. The Zn3P2 precipitates were preferentially nucleated at stacking faults which were formed to relax interfacial strain built up by the intermixing. The precipitates were grown to planar epitaxial layer along (100) plane in the lattice-matched region. The TEM images and diffraction pettern revealed that the tetragonal Zn3P2 crystals were coherently matched to the fcc structured GaInP matrix by the {{{{ SQRT {2} $\times$ SQRT {2} $\times$2 }} arrangement. The precipitation reaction of Zn3P2 was explained by an atomic migration model based on the kick-out mechanism.

This paper describes a new simulation technique for advection-diffusion phenomena over the sea surface using the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM), capable of predicting oil dispersion from tankers. The LBM is used to solve the pollutant transport problem within the framework of the ocean environment. The sea space is represented by the lattices, where each lattice has the information on oil transportation. Since dispersed oils (i.e., oil droplets) at sea are transported by convection due to waves, buoyancy, and turbulent diffusion, the conservation of mass and many physical oil transport rules were used in the prediction model. Since the LBM is modeled using the uniform lattices and simple rules, it can be easily accelerated by the parallel mechanism, for example, GPU-accelerated method. The proposed model using the LBM is used to simulate a simple pollution event with the oil pollutants of 10,000 kL. The simulation results indicate that the LBM method accelerated with the GPU is 6 times faster than that without the GPU.
