  • Recently, an optical disc system has been proposed using blue laser diode, high NA objective lens and groove only disc structure. A new method is needed to readout CD and DVD in the blue system. In order to readout CD and DVD in HD-DVD system, we adopted dual-lenses actuator in consideration of optical utilization efficiency, optical performance and insurance of sufficient W.D (working distance).   • For high density optical storage, there should be a high NA objective lens and a shorter wavelength laser diode. To secure the disc tilt margin related to the coma aberration, moreover, it's difficult to apply the tilt compensation mechanism into the portable PC. In this paper, we proposed the 3-axis asymmetry pickup actuator with high efficiency symmetric magnetic circuit, which consisted of the top cover type inner yoke for high magnetic flux density, the coil stack unit for the 3-axis independent operation and vertically polarized magnets.   • One of the major limitations of productivity and quality in machining is machining accuracy of the machine tools. The machining accuracy is affected by geometric, volumetric errors of the machine tools. This paper suggests the enhancement method of machining accuracy for precision machining of high quality metal reflection mirror or optics lens, etc. In this paper, we study 1) the compensation of linear pitch error with NC controller compensation function using laser interferometer measurement, 2) the method for enhancing the accuracy of NC milling machining by modeling and compensation of volumetric error, 3) the generation of the parabolic face profile. And the method is verified by the parabolic face machining experiment with a vertical three axes NC milling machine. After this study, we will inspect using On-machine measurement and study the repetitive machining by a compensated path

  • This paper deals with the non contact optical sensor to measure the shape of transparent plates such as glass panel of LCD(Liquid Crystal Display). The conventional methods to obtain the shape or thickness of a transparent plates are contact type sensor such as LVOT(Linear Variable Differential Transformer). Due to the contact between the tip of the sensor and the surface of objects, the tip is abraded. In addition, the high temperature glass casting makes the size of sensor body changed. These reasons makes the sensor degraded. In this paper, to overcome these problem, we proposed a low cost noncontact optical sensor this is composed of the Hologram laser unit of a CD-Pickup and a plastic lens. To evaluate the performance of the proposed optical sensor, a series of experiments were performed for various measurement condition. Based upon observation of the experimental result, the developed sensor shows good result for measuring the shape of transparent plates.

A Study on a Visual Sensor System for Weld Seam Tracking in Robotic GMA Welding (GMA 용접로봇용 용접선 시각 추적 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we constructed a visual sensor system for weld seam tracking in real time in GMA welding. A sensor part consists of a CCD camera, a band-pass filter, a diode laser system with a cylindrical lens, and a vision board for inter frame process. We used a commercialized robot system which includes a GMA welding machine. To extract the weld seam we used a inter frame process in vision board from that we could remove the noise due to the spatters and fume in the image. Since the image was very reasonable by using the inter frame p개cess, we could use the simplest way to extract the weld seam from the image, such as first differential and central difference method. Also we used a moving average method to the successive position data or weld seam for reducing the data fluctuation. In experiment the developed robot system with visual sensor could be able to track a most popular weld seam. such as a fillet-joint, a V-groove, and a lap-joint of which weld seam include planar and height directional variation.

  • 보호층 0.1mm두께의 20GB이상의 광디스크를 기록·재생하는 High Density Optical System에서는 Blue-violet laser와 NA(Numerical Aperture)0.85의 High NA의 대물렌즈를 사용한 Optical Pick Up이 필요로 된다. 종래의 대물렌즈는 glass 또는 plastic제의 2매 조합 대물렌즈가 많이 사용되어지고 있는데, 이는 두 렌즈간의 거리를 일정하게 유지시키기 위한 홀더 조립시의 공차가 엄격히 요구되며, 2매 조합 대물렌즈를 구동시키기 위한 actuator의 부피와 무게를 증가시킴으로서 구동감도를 감소시키는 단점이 있다. x$^{(3)}$ Measurement through Self-focusing with Non-gaussian Beam (비 Gaussian 빛에 의한 자체집광을 이용한 x$^{(3)}$측정)

  • The second harmonic of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser beam with gaussian mode is cut off by pinhole of a certain radius and its central portion passed through pinhole is focused by converging lens. It is confirmed that the shape of this beam in focal region is central symmetric but non-gaussian. Change of transmittance due to self-focusing is investigated by scanning (z-scan) $CS_2$ of 1 mm thickness in the focal region. It is found that the observed results can be consistently explained by Fresnel theory within 1.5% accuracy and efficiency of self-focusing depends on spatial shape of incident beam.

  • Measurement equipment, which consists of He-Ne laser, objective lens, CCD camera and position sensitive detector, was developed for the dynamic response of micromirror. This equipment can measure the tilting direction and angle, the rise time and frequency response of micromirror to the input signal. It was found that the rise time of the micromirror was less than 10${\mu}m$ and the resonant frequency was about 25kHz.

  • Recently, Plastic optical products are widely used. Injection molding process has advantages of low cost and high productivity. However, it remains a residual birefringence and residual stress by difference cooling. The present study focused on measuring birefringence in optical plastic parts using interference color pattern. The main idea of an analysis comes from chromatic aberration which is caused by difference light wavelengths. As a result, a complete system measuring the high order 2-D birefringence pattern was built. Further investigation is under way to improve the accuracy of birefringence measurement system by diode laser.

  • 최근 다이오드 레이저의 파워가 높아짐에 따라 다이오드 레이저를 이용한 레이저 가공 공정이 많은 분야에서 응용되고 있다. 그러나 고출력 다이오드 레이저의 출력은 타원형의 빔이므로 정밀 공정이 어려워 원형의 빔으로 변환하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 여러 가지 렌즈를 사용하여 설계를 시도하였으며 최적의 설계로서 anamorphic prism pair를 이용하여 타원형의 빔을 원형의 빔으로 바꾸는 광학계를 설계하였으며 원형빔의 크기를 축소하기 위해 beam size reducer를 설계하였다.
