  • This paper introduces a method that can derive information about the movement of a spreader and skew in order to drive ALS(Automatic Landing System) in the crane used at a harbor. Some methods that use LDL Corner detectors a kind of 2D Laser scanner sensor or Laser distance measuring units to obtain the information in ALS are used presently. But these have some defects in economic efficiency and performance. Therefore, to correct these defects, we propose a method to acquire the information for the movement of a spreader, skew and sway angle using CCD camera image data and Laser distance measuring unit data.

  • This paper introduces a novel approach that can provide the three dimensional information about the movement of a spreader by using two CCD cameras and a laser distance measuring unit in order to derive ALS (Automatic Landing System) in the crane used at a harbor. So far a kind of 2D Laser scanner sensor or laser distance measuring units are used as comer detectors for the geometrical matching between the spreader and a container. Such systems provide only two dimensional information which is not enough for an accurate and fast ALS. In addition to this deficiency in performance, the price of the system is too high to adapt to the ALS. Therefore, to overcome these defects, we proposed a novel method to acquire the three dimensional spreader information using two CCD cameras and a laser distance measuring unit. To show the efficiency of proposed method, real experiments are performed to show the improvement of accuracy in distance measurement by fusing the sensory information of the CCD cameras and a laser distance measuring unit.

  • This paper introduces a novel approach that can provide the three dimensional information on the movement of a spreader by using two CCD cameras and a laser distance sensor, which enables an ALS (Automatic Landing System) to be used for yard cranes at a harbor. So far a kind of 2D Laser scanner sensor or laser distance measuring units are used as corner detectors for the geometrical matching between the spreader and a container, which provides only 2D information which is not enough for an accurate and fast ALS system required presently. In addition to this deficiency in performance, the price for the system is too high to be adopted widely for the ALS. Therefore, to overcome these defects, a novel method to acquire the three dimensional information for the movement of a spreader including skew and sway angles is proposed using two CCD cameras and a laser distance sensor. • The space Debris laser ranging system is called to be a definite type of satellite laser ranging system that measures the distance to satellites. It is a system that performs POD (Precise Orbit Determination) by measuring time of flight by firing a laser. Distance precision can be measured in mm-level units, and it is the most precise system among existing systems. Currently, KASI has built SLR in Sejong and Geochang, and utilized SLR data to verify the precise orbits of the STSAT-2C and KOMASAT-5. In recent years, due to the fall or collision of space debris, its satellites have been threatened, and in terms of security, laser tracking of space objects is receiving great interest in order to protect their own space assets and protect the safety of the people. In this paper, a 1.5m-class main mirror was applied for the system design of a multipurpose laser tracking system that considers satellite laser ranging and space object laser tracking. System preliminary performance analysis was performed based on Link Budget analysis considering specifications of major components.

  • In this paper, we review two-dimensional measuring methods referring to target patterns. The patterns consist of two linearly-repeated patterns or is designed repeatedly in two-dimension. The repeated properties are reflectivity, refractivity, air-gapping distance, capacitance, magnetic reluctance, electrical resistance and sloping gradient, etc. However, the optical methods are generally used for high speed processing and density, and their encoding principles are treated here. In case of two-dimensional pattern, as there is not inherently error between single units encoding the pattern except for the metrology frame errors, the end-effector position of an object accompanying the pattern can be measured with respect of the global frame without via error. Therefore, it is regarded as a substitute for laser interferometer with severe environmental constraints and has been applied to the high-accurate planar actuator.

  • Position controls are very important in semiconductor manufacturing devices, machine tools, precision measuring instruments, etc. to measure the distance of movement of moving objects in minute units and the accuracy of measurement for the moving distance in these devices affect the performance of the whole devices. Therefore, in those precision instruments, a sensing device that can measure the distance of movement with high-precision resolution is required. Thus an optical encoder that has such advantages as easy digital interface, economical price, and a resolution similar to that of laser interferometers can be used. In this paper, a interferometer-type linear scale with easy digital interface and high-resolution has been set up and measured the distance of movement based on the diffraction principle. Interference signals produced in this optical setup of the linear scale have beers digitalized through fabricated photodetectors and designed signal processing circuits. A resolution of 0.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ is acquired from the experimental interferometer-type linear scale without for the movement of scales any additional dividing circuits. It is shown that from this experiment a high-resolution distance measurement device can be designed by a simple optical setup.
